Ever had that moment when you're dashing through your day and you're suddenly struck by a tiny, yet powerful observation? That's what happened to me, and it sparked an enlightening conversation about the choices we make and how they shape our lives. During a routine catch-up with an old friend, an unexpected scene of someone thoughtlessly discarding chewed gum on the sidewalk led me down a path of reflection. Join me as I share insights on why we should be just as discerning with the attitudes we adopt as we are with the food we consume. This episode isn't just about keeping our streets clean; it's a metaphor for maintaining a healthy mental diet free from the pollutants of negativity and pessimism.

We all know that negativity can be as sticky and unpleasant as gum on our shoe, yet how often do we find ourselves inadvertently picking it up from those around us? It's time to discuss the importance of surrounding ourselves with positivity and consciously discarding the 'leftovers' of other people's bad vibes. Tune in to hear my candid thoughts on selecting your social circles with care and how, just as you wouldn't chew on someone else's discarded gum, you shouldn't let their toxic attitudes taint your own mindset. It's an empowering call to action—exploring the crucial balance between staying informed and staying inspired—so let's walk through this together, heads held high and spirits undimmed. Speaker 1:

So I'm zipping from one thing to the next middle of the work day. I'm catching up with a friend over lunch so I haven't done it in a while but happy to do it and as I was walking out I saw someone just walking out of a coffee shop. I won't say which one, but anyhow I won't tell you which one. They didn't promote me, but someone was walking out. They were just smacking their lips, eating some bubble gum probably mint flavor and all of a sudden they didn't have a trash can, they didn't see anything garbage around. They just took it out and threw it on the ground, straight up, littering on the ground. This is that despicable person. We've all seen him, whatever.

Speaker 1:

And the thought hit me If you're walking around and you see that gum, would you go ahead, stoop down, look at the pink or the green gum and put it in your mouth and start chewing on that piece of grossness? Of course not. Why would you? Why would you eat chewed up gravelly gum? That's not good for you. That's going to probably mess up your mouth. It could have toxicity. It could have someone else's germs Some of their. You don't even know. If they brush their teeth Like you wouldn't even kiss the person, why would you even chew up their gum? Why would you consume somebody else's garbage?

Speaker 1:

We do that all the time with our attitudes. When you're hanging out with negative people, with folks that are just depressing and I'm not talking about the mental depression where they're working on it, I'm talking about the people are just negative, pessimistic whining, complaining, spreading gossip, throwing people under the bus, backstabbing, talking to each other why do we pick up that attitude? That's leftover garbage, that's not meant for us. That is not who we are meant to be as people. That is disgusting and we would never put their gum in our mouth. Why would we put their attitude in our mind? Why would they let that fester in our hearts?

Speaker 1:

When you see a bad attitude, someone you do not want to be like, someone that is better left on loan, leave them on loan. It is not worthwhile under any circumstance whatsoever. If you see bad attitudes or stuff that you want to be around, just leave their gum attitude on the ground and go ahead and just leave it. It's meant to just stay there in the garbage. Better yet, wouldn't it be a good system? Put it in the garbage, let them be and let it be alone. Get that on the garbage, so no one else is tempted to pick up that trash. That's my takeaway for stopping here, because I'm hanging out with a friend I haven't talked to in forever. Have a good one, let's rock and roll.
