Well, I'm back with you here, talking to you about the same subject we've been on, and that is that we are talking about letting you get profit from the Word of God. Your profiting may appear to all that as you study and grow and learn, you'll do a better job teaching Sunday school and you'll be a better Christian and God will be working in your life. Better job teaching Sunday school and you'll be a better Christian and God will be working in your life. So I want to challenge you to get into the mood to teach and communicate the truth of God. Don't come running in at the last minute. Don't come in after fighting with your spouse and just rushing the class and grab your Bible and do that. You need to realize, boy, I'm stepping into the holy place with the holy book to teach saints of God or lost people that need to be saved, the truth of God. So spend some time praying, praising, thanking God, as you prepare your heart to teach these people. Meditate on that scripture so that you've meditated on it and soaked in it and bathed in it till it has become so real to you, and think about what you're teaching and realize you're only teaching this for one person, only one person you're teaching it for, and his name is Jesus. You're teaching this for the Lord, jesus Christ. That's so vitally important to understand. It's not about the pastor, the Sunday school class, the children, the parents. It's about Jesus and you're serving him.
W. Austin Gardner:Now I want to challenge you to talk to the people. You're not a speaker like you know where we put the speakers up and we amplify the speech, and so you're just sitting there, blah, blah, blah, repeating. It's not just rote, it's not dull, it's not monotonous, it's not boring. You need to look at them and there's a communication going on all the time. You can see it in their eyes. Are they hearing me? Are they learning what I'm saying? Are they paying attention back there? Are they getting this? Are there smiles? Are there tears? Is there laughter? Is there learning? Is there concern? Is there conviction? So you want to be communicating your message.
W. Austin Gardner:The goal is to communicate your message, and then let me give you the last one for today. You want to be sure and make profound truths simple and make profound truths simple. Dl Moody said that God's people are. He considered them or called them sheep, not giraffes. Don't put it on the top shelf. Put it on the lower shelf. Don't try to show off Bible knowledge. Bring it down to where they can hear it and understand it and apply it to their lives. Be interested in them where they're living and what they're doing, and let it make a difference in their lives.
