With Joe Zawinul on Keyboards, Wayne Shorter on Saxophones, Jaco Pastorius on Bass, and Peter Erskine on Drums, Weather Report set a high standard of excellence throughout the Jazz World.

In this episode we delve into the iconic jazz label Blue Note Records which was established in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff. Historically, Blue Note has been associated with the “hard bop” style of jazz and recorded essential albums in the avant-garde and free jazz styles. In 1946 recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder used the living room in his parents house in Hackensack, New Jersey before building his own studio in Englewood Cliffs New Jersey.
