Speaker 1:

In this episode, we will learn about the letter I, which stands for intelligence. Ready to learn what intelligence is and how it makes AI so smart? Let's get started. So what is intelligence? Intelligence is the ability to learn, think and solve problems. It's what helps us figure out things, remember things and make decisions. Just like people have intelligence, computers can have intelligence too. That's what we call artificial intelligence or AI. Can you think of a time when you've used intelligence to solve a problem? Maybe when you figured out a puzzle or helped a friend? So how does intelligence work in AI? Ai uses intelligence to learn from data we learned about that in the D is for Data episode Make decisions and even understand what you say. It's like having a really smart helper inside a computer that can answer questions, recognize faces and even play games with you. Did you know? Intelligence is all around us? There's intelligence or artificial intelligence, and virtual assistants. Those are devices like Alexa and Siri or OK Google. They use pieces of AI to understand your voice and help you with tasks. There are also smart toys that use AI to help you learn, and they also learn what you like and suggest new games or activities. And, of course, video games. Ai makes game characters smarter so they can respond to how you play and make the games even more fun.

Speaker 1:

So I wanted to share some fun facts about AI and intelligence. Ai learns in a way that's similar to how we do, by practicing and getting better over time. Some AI can use its intelligence to create art, write stories or even compose music. Yes, it can even make music. Ai intelligence is used to help doctors diagnose diseases, find the best routes for drivers and even translate languages. So how can AI and human intelligence work together? We can learn from each other. Humans teach AI by giving it lots of information to learn from, and AI can help us by providing new insights and ideas. Ai uses intelligence to make our lives easier, from suggesting movies we might like to watch or helping us start the draft of an email. The more data AI gets, the smarter it becomes, just like how we get smarter, the more we learn.

Speaker 1:

So let's play a game. Let's play an AI helper game. The tools you need for this game are just your imagination. First, I want you to pretend you're an AI assistant. What kind of help would you give someone? Would you help them find their favorite song or suggest a new game for them to play? Now ask a friend or family member to pretend to be an AI helper and see what smart ideas they come up with.

Speaker 1:

Talk about how the AI uses intelligence to help people in real life. There are challenges that we need to think about with AI intelligence. Ai is super smart, but it needs to be trained carefully to avoid making mistakes, and the people who train it are humans. So we have to stay involved, or what people call in the loop, with AI or humans in the loop. Sometimes AI can get confused if it doesn't have enough information or if the information isn't clear, so we always want to make sure the data that AI learns from is as good as possible. So how can you learn more about AI and intelligence? There are fun online games that show you how AI learns and makes decisions. You can also check out videos of AI doing amazing things like playing chess, painting pictures or helping scientists.

Speaker 1:

If you're curious, ask your parents or teachers about how AI intelligence works and what it can do. I want you to imagine what you would create if you could make your own AI. Yes, think about what you could create and how would it help people. Make your own AI. Yes, think about what you could create and how would it help people. How would you use its intelligence to help you or others? What smart things would it do? Then I want you to share your ideas with someone nearby and dream up the future of AI together, because, kids, ai is going to be part of your lives and you have to help build it into the best AI possible. There's also activities you can try at home. If you have a virtual assistant in your home, like Siri or Alexa, you can see how it uses intelligence to answer your questions and help with tasks. But, as you may already know, ai has limitations, so also learn what are some of the limitations of those virtual assistants and how would you make it better if you were creating a new AI?
