Speaker 1:

hey everybody, welcome back. It's brett with another episode of shooting from the circle where we turn around and we follow the rumbler football club's a-grade netball side in their quest for 2024, and today it's a bit of a preview of another cracking game. I thought the Moama game was going to be an absolute cracker. It was, didn't disappoint. But this one it's going to be another cracker. We're talking Daniluk and Rams against Rumballara, denny against Rumba Down the highway. Cobb Highway to Denny, that's where Rumba have got to go tomorrow afternoon 1.30. Cobb Highway to Denny, that's where Rumba have got to go tomorrow afternoon 1.30. It's going to be a cracking game. Now let's look back. Rumba are a four and zip. Denny are two and zip. They lost two matches in a row. So they lost against Moama and they lost against Nathalia Two close games that Denny lost. So against Nathalia it was 39-37, so a two-goal deficit there. And then five goals against Moama, 51-46. In saying that, rumbler have beaten Moama by nine goals. But I mean you can't take that. You can't turn around and say, oh yeah, but you know if Rumba beat Nathalia or Rumba beat Moama, blah, blah, blah. This is going to be a cracking game. You've got Rhianna Maxwell there taking it over and, you know, just commanding that circle, that goal-shooting circle, and commanding her charges from that circle. So she's pretty much, you know, looking down at court. She's been their coach for the last, I think three or four years. She's won two premierships. She knows what's going on. Yeah, I think three or four years she's won two premierships. She knows what's going on. Yeah, I got told that maybe they're playing some under-17s in their defensive circle. They might have lost some players, but there's not much being said about Dinalik when they're. Yeah, for the last.

Speaker 1:

As I said, the last three or four years they have been the benchmark in the Murray League netball, especially in A grade. So, as I said, they did win two premierships in a row and one of them was against Rumballara. They lost. They were nearly going undefeated until last year. They got bundled out of finals. So, yeah, they're on a rebuild hearsay. I think they've kept some of their nuclear supplies, but they are on a rebuild Rumball coming.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they're four zip. Yeah, they've had wins against new merca, king gupner, moama and um achuki united. So they've had some hard games and they're sort of um against moama and king gupner, they they let those sides come in first and shoot the first four or five goals or whatever it was. But they can't do that against Danilo Iguandamaro. They definitely can't against Danny, because Danny will just tear them apart. So, yeah, it's going to be an absolute cracker game. I mean, as I said, you've got Rumba, I think. Yeah, they've got some personnel issues at the moment, so I think they're down to the bare seven.

Speaker 1:

Still got a little bit of trouble with injuries. So Town of Steel with their quad still a little bit sore. I think Jess Bamlett's a little bit sore. They have had to break. So they had a bye last week. So they didn't play because of the split round. So Dan's split round. So hopefully they'll be refreshed and come out firing.

Speaker 1:

They haven't got medica or kai playing. So medica, she's in america. Kai I've heard some things. Maybe she won't be playing again. I don't. I don't know. There was some disamblery things that happened for Kai, but I don't know the full story. So she's not playing again. So I think they're down to the best seven. They might get a couple of big graders come up, maybe a couple of under 17s, who knows? But yeah, tomorrow it's going to be an absolute belter of a game.

Speaker 1:

I think I'm not sure what happened last year. I know it was first round or second round last year where Rumba went down. I think they went down by three goals, three goals to them, maybe four goals to them. So they're thereabouts, rumba are thereabouts. So this year, with a new side heading up there, you know, as I said, daniloquin's the unknown. No one really knows what to expect of Denny. They are a powerhouse and it's amazing how they get this talent because, daniloquin, if no one knows where Daniloquin is, it's in the middle of, you know, I think it's about 40, maybe, maybe to an hour away from Echuca, north of Echuca, on the Sturt Highway, I think it is. So it's at the middle of nowhere. Wheatfields rice is a big thing out there, so it's not a very big town.

Speaker 1:

They're best known for the Denny Ute Muster. So every October they have the Denny Ute Muster there and that's been going on for many years. It's a cracking weekend, that is, yeah, and it's a good weekend away. So there's really it's interesting here, and they've actually got two sides in that town. So they've got a Denny side that plays, I think, in the Bacola League, and then they've got the Denny Rams who play in the Murray League. So it's very interesting that they can, one get the personnel but two get the especially in netball still have the skilled players that they can get. So hats off to Denny and Yo for that.

Speaker 1:

And, as I said, they, uh, deniliquin yo for that, you know, and, as I said, they have been a powerhouse side for, you know, three, maybe four years, I'm not too sure, um, but I know, yeah, they won two premierships in a row and are undefeated in those two years that they did play in those premierships. So they're they're not, they're not to take, to be taken lightly. Um, I don't think rumble are will take them lightly. I think they'll go up there tomorrow. I mean, every side goes and plays another side and they've always had that confidence that they're going to win. Yeah, rumbelara are going to go up there and say, no, we're going to win. But I think, yeah, they'll be very tangible. They won't think it's a pushover. They'll very, very watchful on how, um, danilo can do things, and the same as well with Danilo. When you know, they know Rumble is coming off for four zip, you know, um, it's, you know, undefeated at the moment. So, denny, no, okay, rambla, I've got some talent. You know they've got Jesse Barnes in there now and you know Emily and Sarah from Melbourne. So, yeah, they're not going to be mindful of what Rambla have got and what they've produced. So, yeah, they have shot a lot of goals and they have one boy. Except for the Moama game, they have one boy over 20 goals. So, except for the Moama game, they have one boy over 20 goals. So they have got that shooting power and they have got that defensive power run below when they're on song and, as I said, there are clouds over Town of Steel and Jess Bantlet with their injuries. So I'm not sure what's going to happen there.

Speaker 1:

But, as I said, this is a preview of a game. It's one of one of the games that you know, games that are around, because I think Tongala play Moema, so there's a lot of interest on that. You know that top of the table. So Tongala and Rambalara are undefeated, and then you've got, yeah, your Moemas and those sort of likes down under that. So you know, moema, they would be wanting to win against Tony tomorrow. So it's sort of going to be helpful for Rumba. I mean, yeah, they don't want to lose. Yeah, that's the least on their mind. They don't want to lose. It's just something they don't want to do. But I mean, if it happens that they do lose, I'm pretty sure Tony will beat Moema, so it'll sort of still have that buffer and Tiny will go on top of the ladder undefeated. Now that's if Rumble are to lose.

Speaker 1:

Me personally, I think it's going to be a really, really close game. It's very hard to call it because, as I said, we don't know what Denny are doing. We don't know what their personality is. As I said, I've only heard things that they've got under 17 girls playing. That's only hearsay. I don't know. They might come out tomorrow and have these girls that no one's ever heard of before and just come out and smash Rambalara.

Speaker 1:

But in the same token, rambalara have got quality players too. As I said, you've got Soph Axe and Jesse Barnes in that shooting circle. Yeah, you've got quality mid-court, but yeah, it's the drive. You know it's an hour and a half from Shep to get to Denny and you know it's the drive. And yeah, it's a home game for them, so they just have to drive down the road.

Speaker 1:

But it's going to be an interesting game. It'll be a hard-fought game. I think if any side wins, they're only going to win. I'll say 10 goals at the most each side, 10 goals at the most. I think Rambalara will come up and win. Just on the previous results from Danny and who they've played. And you know, normally they would just be spanking sides, just absolutely spanking sides. So two years ago they were spanking sides. Three years ago they were spanking sides. Last year, to a point, they were spanking sides, but this year they've sort of come down a notch or other sides have come up, so they're sort of even with a lot of sides now.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, the next two weeks for Rumbler is going to be, it's going to be their benchmarks. It's going to. They'll know where they are because, yeah, they play Denny tomorrow. Next week they play Tongala. Yeah, you would think, yeah, unless Moama come out and play blinder of netball and I know Moama can you would think that Tongala will be undefeated tomorrow night. So, yeah, three up, us three tomorrow. You'd think you're 100% guaranteed that Tony will be undefeated. Yeah, they've got Millie Brock who's playing in V&L and she's absolutely lighting the stage up at the moment. So you'd think that they would be undefeated. Yeah, they've got Millie Brock who's playing in V&L and she's absolutely lighting the stage up at the moment. So you'd think that they would be undefeated.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, rumba, look, I'll say that Rumba will probably win by three or four goals. It's going to be one of those games that, if you've got a heart problem, probably don't go and watch it, because I think it'll play on the heart. It's going to be tense. It's going to be impactful. Again, capitalizing on opposition's fundamental mistakes, capitalizing on turnovers, scoring of turnovers. You have to score off turnovers in netball and not giving shooters three or four goes at shooting. If they miss it once, you should be there for a rebound. You should be strong for that rebound. Grab that rebound and take off. So yeah, after tomorrow 3.30. Tomorrow, you might have two sides that remain undefeated that will be playing off the following weekend.

Speaker 1:

I did the podcast about Moama. Hold on to your britches when it comes to uh, tonga rumble if those two sides are still undefeated after tomorrow night. Now, as I said, I'm not giving anything away to denny because they they can come out and their quality side. They have been for three or four years. So it's going to be interesting, it's going to be a cracker game, it's going to be tight.

Speaker 1:

I think if Rumbelara, you know they keep up their talk, like they did with Achiki United at the start. They will get over the line. But yeah, dino Aikman, to their credit, you know, hats off to them, kudos to them. They find people, they find people, they find talent. They fill holes perfectly with talent that is left and they fill it with talent that they've got. So, as I said, rhianna Maxwell she's been around, she knows what's going on, she's a quality shooter, quality coach and she's a fierce competitor. And she's a fierce competitor.

Speaker 1:

So probably the matchups will be either Tiana Steele or Jessie Bamblin on Rihanna Maxwell. That'll be the matchup. And, as I said, I don't know too much about anyone else in Danilo Quinn, but that one there will be a matchup to look for. As I said, rihanna Maxwell very classy, knows how to play the game, knows how to exploit things really, knows her craft. And then you've got Jessie Bamblett. She's exactly the same but in a defensive role, knows her craft, knows how to get away with things, is very hard at the ball, very quick at the ball. She's polished, she's got skill. She looks for those intercepts, she sort of plays that floating defender, but she also gets back really, really quick and defends off the post. So that matchup, whether it be Rihanna Maxwell and Tiana Steele or Rihanna Maxwell and Jess Bama, it's probably going to be the cracking matchup. I'm not sure what their other shooter is, so yeah, I really can't comment on that.

Speaker 1:

But, as I said, that matchup there, whether it be Town of Steel and Rihanna Maxwell, if it's Town of Steel and Rihanna Maxwell, that'll be a cracking matchup because they're both agile. You know, jess Band just balance more of a state of post but then just pounces on their ball like I have not seen someone who's had the reaction like she's had. She's just her reaction. Times are just quick. She'll grab that ball and you wouldn't even think she'd she's seen the ball. Um, and, as I said, tiana, she, she knows how to play on body, she knows how to play off body, she knows how to float. She knows how to play on body, she knows how to play off body, she knows how to float, she knows how to come back.

Speaker 1:

I think if they rely, if Denny starts to rely on Rihanna Maxwell a lot and they start lobbing it in because she's a tall shooter, she is a tall shooter, she's taller than Jessie Barnes and Tiana If they start lobbing it into her. I think you'll find that the two defenders in Tiana and Jess will double team. They'll let the goal attack or whoever run out, get her that pass, and then they'll double team and then, as soon as that goal attack comes back in, tiana will then defend off that goal attack. So you're sort of nullifying that purpose of lobbing the netball in. So I think you'll find that if that happens, if they start lobbing the ball into Rihanna and she's getting, as I said, she's taller than them, she just has to jump and leap you'll find that they'll double team her, let the goal attack out and then when the goal attack comes in Tiana, she'll check her, she'll come to her, she will stand up to her and then it's a one-on-one game. So that shooting and defensive matchups, they're going to be the cracker ones to watch.

Speaker 1:

As I said, I'm not sure about their defenders, but they're going to be up against some quality shooters in Jesse, barnes and Soph. So it's going to be a cracking game. As I said, my prediction will be probably Rumballara by at least three or four. Yeah, it's going to be not one for the faint heart of this game. It's really going to have people on the edge of their seats. I hope it does, because that makes good netball. And one other thing I hope is it's it's fair and the umpires are consistent in the way they ump of the game. And, yeah, I'll be excited to review it because, as I said, it's going to be a cracking game against two quality sides.

Speaker 1:

Denny are finding themselves in the middle of the pack on the ladder and that's not where they normally are. So that's foreign to them. It's foreign placement for them, they're not used to being there. So they'll be wanting to make a statement and saying that we're still here. So that statement starts tomorrow against Rumbler. But then again, rumbler will want to make a statement too and say, well, we're not four and zip because we played midfield teams or mid-ladder teams. We want to make a statement. We're here to challenge for a premiership and to play finals, and it's all about qualifying to play finals. So, yeah, as I said, it's going to be a cracking game tomorrow. So D'Niliquin Rams against Rumballara in Denny 1.30. Yeah, going to be absolutely superb. So that is me, brett, I'm out. Uh, thank you for listening, um, and I'll send out another podcast on sunday with a review, um, of the game. And, yeah, good luck to both sides and yeah, let's go rumba.
