Speaker 1:

hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of shooting from the circle, a podcast where we follow the rumballara football club's a-grade netball side on a quest for a premiership in 2024. And today is review day. We're going to review the game. They're going to play again this weekend against yumerica. So round one they played Numerica at Numerica Good Friday. I'm not sure how the draws work. I mean, yeah, as I said, they've played them once but they haven't played a few other sides. So this weekend it's back in Numerica because, unfortunately, rambalara, their courts and their facilities still aren't up to scratch. Hopefully next week against Nathalia, they'll be back, but yeah. So, as I said, we're going to do a bit of a review on the game.

Speaker 1:

Go back to round one. What happened in round one? So in round one, rumballara pretty much came out stomped. Their authority ran out winners by 34 goals, so it was 74 to 40. Yeah, they pretty much.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, new Merca were a very young side. Now I thought New Merca would have improved. I went and watched them play. They played against Nathalia. I think they only lost by 14 goals against Nathalia. Played against Nathalia. I think they only lost by 14 goals against Nathalia. So I was very surprised when I went back through on the Netball Connect app and had a look at their losses and it wasn't up until the last two rounds where they've actually had one win and one draw. So they're sitting 10th at the moment on the ladder. They're pretty much a long way out of it. Um, no, that's not to say in the second half of the year that they turn it around, but it's going to take a big effort from your merca. I mean, they're a young side, they, they. I think last year was their very first year back in A grade, so it's going to take a little bit for them to get back onto it, but I mean, it's a work in progress for them. So if you look at, as I said, they won over Moala, which is a surprise. Moala is very strong. So they won over Moala. So they actually know how to play the game. They know how to play and they drew with Beruga. Now Beruga. So you're looking at polar differences there.

Speaker 1:

Moela, they're sitting mid-pack. I think they're in the sixth. I think they are. But then you look at Beruga, who haven't won a game. They've come a draw with Numerka. So you're looking at, you would think that if they've beaten Moela they would come against Baruga and pretty much beat Baruga, but that didn't happen. They come a draw.

Speaker 1:

So I'm not sure whether they had personnel issues or not, I don't know, but it's going to be a big task for Numerica this. Um, whether the weather's meant to be fine on good friday. It was very, very hot, um. So, yeah, they're gonna find a big ask. I mean, you're shooting circle with um, uh, soph and jesse barnes are on top at the moment. You've got kai back. I'm not sure whether madika's back as well in that mid court. So obviously you've got Sarah, because Emily's still away. Then you've got the dynamic duo of Jesse Bamblett and Tiana Steele in their defensive end.

Speaker 1:

So I don't think, I really don't think, numerica are going to be up to it. I think they're. Yeah, 10th is probably where they actually should be on the ladder. So I'm not real sure I'm. But what they can do this weekend I know they can. You know, to try and defend Jesse Barnes and Soph is going to be. It's a massive task on its own. Their midcourt's going to have to be on top. Their defense is going to have to be on top, like I mean really, really on top, and then their shooters are going to have to be on top because, yeah, you've got Tiana, who played a great game on the weekend and then against Cobham, and then you've got Jessie Bammer. She plays great every week, she's just the mother of the team down there in defence, and they've got a lot of directors, a lot of leaders, on that court, so they'd be really wanting to come out strong rumba.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, as I said, I can't see numerica um doing anything. I really can't see them um putting on a show. But that I could be wrong. I mean, yeah, we all know rumbalar is eight and zero at the moment. So they're, they're still undefeated. Um, they're up and about, they're on song Koi come back.

Speaker 1:

Last week it was probably one of the best games I've seen them play. Lani, she was brilliant. You know they're going to have to. New Merca are really going to have to. You know, put four quarters together and just be consistently on pressure, consistently pressure Rambalara. As I said, I can't see Numerka doing any damage to Rambalara, so it's going to be unfortunate. But I mean Numerka, yeah, they'll come out. They know what they need to do. They played them once before and that's what I said before. I don't understand the whole draw thing. Rumbelara haven't played girls or haven't played teams yet, but they're playing Yermarka again and then obviously next week they're playing Nathalia.

Speaker 1:

So this is my preview on it. There's really not going to be much to be said because I think Rumbler will run it out. I think Jesse Barnes and so forth will be on top in that shooting circle. I think with Koi, lani and Sarah in that midcourt, they're going to be absolutely. You know they'll dominate, they'll dominate from the start. And it was only, I think, the be absolutely. You know they'll dominate, they'll dominate from the start.

Speaker 1:

And it was only, I think, the first game. I think New Merck had come back and shot a few goals, and it was only because it was hot in the sort of rotations and you know, the girls in the fence come off. So Jess came off, I think Tiana came off. So it'll be interesting to see this weekend. But, as I said, it's highly unlikely that New Merca I think New Merca will push them probably for about one and a bit quarters, maybe one and a half quarters, and then Rumble R will just run away with it.

Speaker 1:

I might be eating my words on Sunday when I do the review of the game, who knows? I hope New Merca come out because I'm all about these girls that want to develop and everything else. So I hope New Merca come out and put on a good show and just show their supporters that they're not an easy beat, they're not a pushover, but with their form coming into this game, as I said, they beat Moela and that's a big thing. To beat Moela, moela were grand finalists last year. So to beat Moela but then to struggle against Baruga and only come a draw, you've really got to look at their consistencies. And maybe it's a young thing, maybe they're just not on song and knowing how to win. But I mean, that'll come with practice and that'll come with time.

Speaker 1:

So that is my preview of the game this Saturday in New Mirka, at the New Mirka showgrounds, rumbelara versus New Mirka, 1.30. Yeah, I think Rumbelara will be on top. I think they'll. Yeah, I hate to say it, but I think they'll bear will be on top. I think they'll. You know, I hate to say it, but I think they'll be 30-goal winners.

Speaker 1:

I don't think New America got the personnel to go with Rumbelar. Rumbelar will just run a while for it. Their defensive efforts will be, you know, will be on song. You know touch wood that, you know there's no injuries or whatever. They're shooting circle. They then they're meek. They've just got a well-groomed team and then the girls have come off the bench. They know their role and they know how to play. So yeah, unfortunately for New America, it's going to be a tough test. I hope they put up a good fight, but for me, rumble are about 35 goals and I'll do the review of it on Sunday. As I said, this is my preview of the game. Yeah, rumballara for me too strong, too talented, too skillful, but I really hope Numerica put up a good fight. Anyway, that is me, brett. Thank you very much for listening, much appreciated. This is my podcast, as I said, my views, my thoughts, me only, nothing else. So you have a great night, have a great week, and I'll talk to you on Sunday when I do the review of the game. Ciao.
