Speaker 1:

hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of shooting from the circle, a podcast all about following the rambalara football netball club's a-grade side on a quest for a premiership in 2024. I'm your host, brett. Thank you very much again for listening. So today is review sunday, so yesterday nathalia came back to rumblar, so rumblar had their very first home game yesterday, um, after about no I think it's about eight, nine weeks, um, so they had the new facilities open for everyone. Um, so yeah, it was good to have rumblar back at home. They've they've traveled um more so than the other club this year. It was good to have Rumballara back at home. They've travelled more so than any other club this year, so it was good to be able to get back home. The facilities first off. A shout-out to Josh and the committee at Rumballara Football and Netball Club as well as Rumballara Co-op. The facilities are A1, absolutely sensational. It gives people room to sit out the front of the canteen and it was a weird sort of a day. To start with it was looked like it was going to be cold, but the day as it progressed through the day, it became warmer and the crowd was unbelievable yesterday at rumblar. So hats off to rumblar um gate takings would have been phenomenal because, yeah, the crowd, and especially um over at the netball side of things, like the crowd that was there for the netball yesterday was unbelievable. So hats off to nethalia football club, uh netball club, and to rumble, our football netball club as well, for for a great day. Um, and yeah it was. The facilities, as I said, are fantastic. Um, they got one more away game, which is this weekend against Barooga, and then I think they play the rest of them at home. So well-deserved for Rambalara.

Speaker 1:

So, getting into the game, as I said, I'm reviewing the game against Nathalia Football Netball Club yesterday. So, as I said, rambalara hosted them. It was probably going to be like Rambalara have gone over the top of Tongala Denny Moela. This was probably their next step. This was another stepping stone in their quest for a premiership this year. So you know the pin in Nathalia. Now, nathalia were very unknown. They were 6-3 at the start of um the weekend, so they were sitting in fifth um. So very unknown, they'd beaten some sides and only, like I think I said in my last podcast, they they were very much um within reach of some teams when they got beaten, but they didn't actually blow away teams when they won. So not like Rumballara where you know their winning margin. I think it's averaged at about 25 goals each game. So yeah, for Nathalia, I mean it was going to be a. It was probably a danger game for Rumballara in the sense that one.

Speaker 1:

You know Nathalia has still got some quality players. So you know, you've got Cara Blizzard who played yesterday and you know, at United she was just an absolute superstar. She played a great game yesterday. She hasn't lost anything. You know you've got Ash Khan in that defensive circle. You know long-time Shepparton player and you know has been a structure down in that defensive circle for Shepparton for a long long time. They picked up a couple others, like Amy Brooks, you know, and Georgie Walpole and her sister Brianna. But the thing was Georgie Walpole went down with a serious knee injury at the start of the year, so pretty much in pre-season I think I'll play in a practice match, so she's done her ACL. That sort of put them on the back foot a bit, sort of pinned their team around Georgie Walpole because she is a sensational shooter. She was at Sheppey United, so it sort of put them back a bit, put them back in the pack, so Shep United, so it sort of put them back a bit, put them back in the pack, but at the end of the day, you've got to play the cards you dealt and pretty much Rumbelara got to beat the side that is get put on the park against them. So it was going to be a very unknown and a danger game for Rumbelara, because they really want to continue on this undefeating run and sides are going to come at them now and try and beat them, and what you don't want is to get beaten on your very first home game.

Speaker 1:

Like, yeah, as I said, the crowd was massive yesterday. It was great to see so many people just over at the netball. So, yeah, I feel and this is why I'm doing this I feel that netball, yeah, it doesn't get talked about as much um, but you've got some quality players and some great games um that get played out there in netball. So it was great to see, see the fans. Uh, especially in the thalia, they came out, yeah, they came out in droves um to sit there and watch the netball or stand there and watch the netball. So it was great to see, and that was probably added pressure into Rumballara knowing that this team. They have got the potential to be a top side, nathalia. It's just unfortunate they had some injuries, lost, a couple of players with serious knees.

Speaker 1:

So Rumballara and I know Jessie Barnes at the start turned around and said that she was a little bit nervous. Tiana Steele said that she was a little bit too because it was just. She said how embarrassing to lose at home on your very first home game. So there was a lot of pressure on Rumbler right from the start and there's going to be pressure on them every week because you know the fear is you go undefeated all year and drop out in straight sets in finals, and I know Danilic will know that firsthand because that's what happened to them last year. So yeah, you've really got to be on your game every week. You've got to be mentally prepared. So the pressure's on Rumbelara and yesterday the pressure was on them getting back to the game because Nathalia wanted to come out and ruin the party. You know which is. That's their role. But, as I said, congratulations on Rumbelara because, yeah, the facilities are great and the crowd there.

Speaker 1:

Yesterday and it was a nice day, it wasn't raining, it wasn't wet, so getting into the game. So with the lineups. So with Rumballara, I'll start with Rumballara. So they started off with Sophie in goal shooter. They start. Then Jesse Barnes in goal attack, they had Nakai Bamlett Kai in wing attack, sarah Thorpe in center and I'll touch back on her in a minute Hadlani in wing defense, tiana Steele in goal defense and Jess Bamblett in goalkeeper. So on the other side with Nathalia, so they had coming from their shooting down to the defense. So they had Rebecca Bond, who they picked up from Rupner as well, down to the defense. So they had rebecca bond, who they picked up um from roopna as well, um brianna warpole, georgie's um sister, and olivia tillard in um wing attack. Cara blizzard started in um santa and, as I said, she hadn't lost anything. Cara blizzard was just absolutely sensational.

Speaker 1:

Then you had Stacey Ross in wing defence and then Ashkahn goal defence and then Tegan Sutton as goalkeeper. So on paper they look two strong sides and, as I said, it's sort of it's a bit strange with Nathaya because, yeah, they lost some players, but on paper they've still got quality players on that court. And then, obviously with Rambalara on the bench, they had Jorah Lavelle and Rehab. So Lavelle's an under-17, jorah is an under-17, and Rehab is a B-grade. On the other side they had Abby Bell, amy Brooks, who's come from United as well, and then Tidy Jacinda Tide. So Jacinda Tide, just adding that quality and that experience on the bench.

Speaker 1:

So she's played with Shep for a long, long time. She's coached state netball, she's played state netball. So having her sit on that bench, um, and it did and I'll get into that a little bit later, but it did um have an influence at one stage. So having jacinta todd just sit there, um, and, as I said, currently tracy breton wasn't there yesterday. Obviously she with her um duties for umball higher up quality coach, unfortunately 17 years at Shep with no premiership, but they've recognised how well of a coach she is. So she's coaching the Vixens Reserves and she's coaching the Strikers Championship side. So she's doing a lot of things in Melbourne. So she wasn't there yesterday.

Speaker 1:

So, starting the game, as I said, yeah, the pressure was on, uh, rumba, they're a little bit nervous, um, but like every game, um, they. They started off well, rumba, but um, nathalia stuck with them. Nathalia stuck with them probably for the first four or five minutes. Um, it was sort of goal for goal, but then there was a couple of interceptions, rambalara started to get on top, and they've done it every week, that they've been like that for the first four or five minutes and then they just click, and that's what happened yesterday. So all of a sudden they clicked the defensive circle and then I mentioned before about Sarah Thorpe and how she played center. So she played on Cara and, as I said, cara hasn't lost anything.

Speaker 1:

Cara, we all know she's a quality midcourt, she's quick, she's fast. What I did find yesterday was a couple of times I think her experience and her speed may have been too much, um, and what I mean by that is she would bring the ball down and she'll be on that shooting circle ready to pass the ball in, and she would just pass it, but they, the shooters, weren't ready. Now, whether that's a shooting error or whether that's just cara needed to slow down a bit, um, maybe take another second, you know, maybe another second and a half just to just to um, have a look and adjust, um, and probably, you know, try and work out where they're going to be. Um, but yeah, I've just found a couple times yesterday. Um, she was pretty much um, yeah, she was too quick for her shooters. She was there passing and they weren't even there, um.

Speaker 1:

But getting back to sarah, her defense, her defensive work as a center is just phenomenal. She, she will. She works hard down the court offensively, um, and her, and just her passing into the circle to Jess Barnes and um, sophie is phenomenal, but her defensive end as well, um, you get a lot of teams that they'll have mid-quarters that are more offensive than defensive. So they, they, they like to run the ball down and they're great in their passing into the circle and whatever, but they're not very good on that offensive or defensive end. So you know that which put pressure on your wing defense, your goal defense and your goalkeeper.

Speaker 1:

But but, sarah, yesterday, you know, in that first quarter she started to. I wouldn't say she was getting on top of Kara of Blizz, but I think they were very evenly matched. But it got to a point where, say, as I said before, kara was probably too quick for her shooters. But I think she was too quick for her shooters sometimes because of the pressure that Sarah was putting on, but also the pressure that Lani was putting on. So, being a wing defense, she was playing against Olivia Tiller she's a damn good player and Lani and their defensive end, their defensive pressure in that first quarter, after about the fourth, five, maybe six-minute mark, nathalia had nowhere to go. They had nowhere to go. They couldn't do anything. Their shooters were frazzled. And I will say yesterday and I'm going to be brutally honest I seen and this is as I said right from the start with this podcast, this is my thoughts, my views um, and it's all about the rumbler and I might be biased, but yesterday, um, yeah, rebecca bond she probably shouldn't have ever.

Speaker 1:

She looked more like a C-grade or maybe a B-res shooter. There was a couple of times there where she was shooting the ball and she couldn't even get it on the circle. She couldn't even get touch the ring. She was underneath the ring and she just, it was just air balls and Tiana and Jess Bamblett just capitalised, just grabbing those rebounds. And then Rumbelara's transition from defence into offence and into shooting was just unbelievable.

Speaker 1:

Kai probably one of the best games I've seen her play. Her feed, probably with Kai. The only criticism is she probably steps on too quick. So instead of waiting an extra second, she'll step on. But then she's off balance and it looks like she's off balance, so she'll just throw the ball. But there was a couple of times there where she started to do that. So Rumble just started to get on top. Their shooters weren't shooting properly. Their defenders were like Ashkahn was a bit slow, teagan Sutton okay, teagan's just come back from having a baby, but they were just out of place and in the first quarter, yeah, rumbelara just went over the top of them.

Speaker 1:

So quarter time and Rumbelara have averaged at least 17 goals a quarter on all their games. So, yeah, they've been raking up big scores. I think they're like 90 goals ahead of everyone else in fours and they're only actually now, I think, three goals behind the number one side, which was, I think, nathalia in defensive end. So for against. So you know, rambalara play Baruga next week and I think by the time the Baruga game is finished next week they'll be on top for four. So goal shot and they'll be on top for against, which is goals defended. So a great effort by Rambalara for that. But yeah, as I said, end of the quarter the score was 17 to 8. And, as I said, it's pretty much a 17 goals is pretty much what Rambalara shoot each quarter, each week. They look at that and they go, yep, that's our goal, that's what we need to shoot.

Speaker 1:

So the first quarter ticked off. So they were nine goals up first quarter straight away. You know, and there was a bit of chat going on and you know, like some of the Nathalia players or defenders were like, well, what do we do with Jesse Barnes and Soph? What do we do? What do we do? What do we do? And they tried to work things out. Second quarter come back on and you could say nine goals isn't a lot, nine goals isn't a lot in any sport to defend, so you really need to keep on attacking. And for Rambalara well, for Nathalia, unfortunately, that's what Ramballara well, for Nathalia, unfortunately, that's what Rumballara did.

Speaker 1:

Rumballara come out in that second quarter and they've been doing this consistently over the last eight or nine rounds where their second quarter now we're talking about third quarters or premiership quarters, but their second quarters are just absolutely phenomenal. So Rumballara come out Defensively. Tiana and Jess were just on song, larnie was on song and, as I said, sarah coming back and being an extra defender as well, being in that center. Yeah, they had no answers up in their shooting circle, but in a defensive circle they had no answers up in their shooting circle, but in an offensive circle they had no answers either. So there was a couple of times there where they pretty much just decided to double-team Jess Barnes because she was just, she was just killing them.

Speaker 1:

But what that did was it allowed Sophie, and there was a couple of plays there where Sophie pretty much passed the ball out, passed the ball in. She would just continually pass it down until she was in goal, shot and shot a goal. No, there was no pressure on her whatsoever, no pressure from the centre. So second quarter, cara Blizzard came out of center and I think Olivia Tillard went into the center, or maybe Amy Brooks. The both of them were rolling, subbing off into center, but the center, there was no defensive pressure on the center. Like I said that Sarah does defensive pressure on the center. Like I said that Sarah does.

Speaker 1:

Really, their wing defense had no answers for Kai, because Kai was just using that arc, that shooting circle and, yeah, she was going to pocket, she was going to the top, and then just their passes in was just absolutely phenomenal and Rambalara just ran them off it. They just absolutely ran them off it. Jesse Barnes and Soph just did what they wanted. They did what they wanted. Chiana Steele and Jess Bamblett did what they wanted, just their attack on the ball. And I've said it all along, jess Bamblett, her reflexes you know the super cat she's just absolutely she would. Her reflexes were on song tiana's ability to read where the ball is actually going to go not where it's going to, but where it's actually going to go and and to get those tip-offs and those intercepts. And, um, you know, they're free balls. Once you get an intercept, that's a free ball for you. That was a ball that was in opposition's possession, which predominantly could have given them a goal, but it's a free ball for you now, so utilize it. And that's what they did.

Speaker 1:

They capitalized in that second quarter on a lot of Nathaya mistakes and there was a lot of chat that, oh, what do we do? How do we do things, cara? What do we do? That you know that. Yeah, oh, what do we do? How do we do things, cara? What do we do? But I mentioned Jacinda Todd before about her leadership and about her experience and it started to show like the bull had already raced. Yeah, it was already done in the second quarter.

Speaker 1:

But some of the girls, like Jessie Barnes and that sort of thing and Jessie Barnes would know because she dealt with Jac like jesse barnes and that sort of thing, and jesse barnes would know because she's dealt with just uh, just in a tie before and car and. But they started to notice that, um, they reacted, they, they they turned around and was like, okay, we need to do something here, we need to change something up. And the girls for nathalia, to their credit, did they, they reacted, so they were starting to push, um, the rumba girls in the pocket. So they were starting to push the Rumba girls into pockets. So I was starting to push them onto one side of the court and not letting them free up to go 45s and go across the other side of the court. But, as I said, it was already done and dusted.

Speaker 1:

So that second quarter was finished and the score was 37-13. So Rumbolara put on 20 goals, 20 goals in that second quarter to Nathaya's fourth. That was a killer. The scoreline was 37-13. It's a 14,. Well, it's a 24-goal lead coming into halftime. 24 goals. Now you can peg that back, I know, but psychology-wise, just their reaction was negative. Nathalia's reaction was negative and that's what I mean, having that experience on the bench with Jacinta Todd. So Jacinta Todd didn't kid up, she just stayed in the civvies. But then, yeah, the halftime, you know they were mentally beat, they were physically beat by Rumballara and you know you start to think to yourself shit, you know how far is this going to go. Start of third quarter. So Rumble.

Speaker 1:

I made a couple of changes because Sarah was just, she was playing center for two quarters nonstop, whereas she was saying she would turn around and she was saying to a couple of other people oh yeah, they keep on changing the centers on me and Sarah's a girl where she doubts herself. But, mate, she's probably one of the best mid-quarters going around in the Murray League at the moment, if not the best mid-quarter going around. And to have opposition teams swap and change and roll off centers all the time, or opposition players on you all the time that just turns around and says that they can't keep up with you and they couldn't. So in the third quarter she had to actually have a break. She was done. So they brought Rehab into.

Speaker 1:

I think Kai went to center, rehab went to wing attack and Lani stayed at wing defense. And going back to Jacinta Todd, again, they sort of worked out some game plays and Nathalia reacted. So in that third quarter, as I said, they started to choke Rumbelara a bit. They started to stop their drive, they became a very defensive team and pretty much I think they just thought well, look, you know we're probably not going to win this, but if we can curb the scoring and lock it down a bit, we're not going to get absolutely smashed. And that's what they did. They become. It wasn't a scrappy, you know. They sort of become like a Fremantle or St Kilda in the AFL where they just become defensive. They were locking down and they were pushing, you know, the Rumba girls to one side and that, you know. And it started to work and probably for half that quarter, you know, and having that inexperience at Rehab in wing attack and you know Kai going into center and, you know, just trying to get that drive because, as I said, sarah had to have a break, she was shot, she was done, but yeah, so there was good coaching in the Thayers aspect, where they identified what they needed to do and they switched on.

Speaker 1:

But what actually happened too was like three quarters into that quarter, rumba sort of stopped and went hang on. Yeah, we need to react to this, we need to find a way, and to the Rumba Lara girls' credit. They sort of worked it out. They sort of worked it out themselves and went well, all right, and they started getting that free flow again. So it sort of broke what Nathalia had done for three quarters of a quarter, if that makes sense. They sort of broke that mold and come back out again and started to get a couple of intercepts and started to get a couple of breaks on Nathalia's ball and everything else.

Speaker 1:

So the third quarter and it's happened a couple of times and Jess Bamlett has identified it that Rumble are sort of they don't slack enough but they don't have their A-grade side on, if you know what I mean, not their AAA side. Sarah has to come off for a break, so you lose that drive and then they get young girls from under-17s or B-grade to come on. So yeah, it's just the name of the game because unfortunately at the moment with the personnel at Rumblar they're still missing Emily and they're missing Madika. But the thing is Emily's back next week. So Emily's back from overseas, so she'll play the Baruga game, which is a fantastic game to come back to because she can ease herself in. She hasn't played netball for five weeks, but that's not to say she's not going to be fit, but she can ease herself in, she can do four or five-minute quarters just to get us match fitness.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, as I said, the back end of that third quarter, rambalara started to work things out and go from there. But, as I said, their third quarter has been a little bit sus. But in saying that, their third quarter against Moama was probably the quarter that won it for them, because they were 12 goals down and ended up being six goals up at three-quarter time. But against other sides where they're 20 goals up or whatever, it doesn't seem like they want to put them away, if that makes sense, and that's probably not what their plan is. But it just looks like that and I suppose it gives them opportunities to rest because at the end of the day, what did I say? They were 24 goals up at halftime. That pretty much has to mean that they have to win, they have to shoot 24 goals to level it, but not have runumba shoot at all. So they probably identified that and it was probably a good move in the end because, as I said, Sarah needed a break.

Speaker 1:

So three-quarter time come around and Rumbalar the scoreline was 49 to 27. So Rumbalar shot 12 goals that quarter. So they were down on their 17 quota that they wanted and Nathalia shot 14. 12 goals that quarter. So they were down on their 17 quota that they wanted and Nathalia shot 14. So, nathalia, they won the quarter by two goals. So it wasn't reflowing, as I said, because Nathalia sort of locked things down. But yeah, 49-27. So that's a 22-goal lead coming into the last quarter.

Speaker 1:

You'd pretty much say that it was done and dusted, and I don't think the girls felt that, though they came back out with a lot more intent. So, sarah, come back on. Their intent was still there For Nathalia, though. I think they'd realize yeah, the horse is bolted, we can't win this, which is unfortunate for them because they have got some quality players, but they tried their hardest. Still, in that last quarter. I forgot to mention if they did fines for footy clubs, like oh, you get your picture in the paper, that's a fine. Well, maybe they should do fines for netball, because in the third quarter now there's a new rule, obviously for rough conduct or rough play, and it's up to the umpire. They don't have to give you a warning, they can send you off.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, in the third quarter the ball was coming down to Nathalia's shooting end and Jessie Bamblett come out and what she normally does is if she had gone with her left hand and not her right hand she probably would have got off it. But she went with her right hand to try and swipe the ball as it was coming. But yeah, she was a little bit slow and she actually clotheslined the girl for Thaya. So the umpire stopped the game and turned around and said no, no, warning, get off for two minutes. So the crowd were like there was a Nathalia crowd that happened in front of them. They're like, ooh, and anyway, you can hear Tiana Steele laughing and she's going oh Jess, what are you doing? And she's just laughing. So for two minutes Tiana Steele had to defend in a circle by herself and I'm not saying this because I'm biased or whatever, because being daughter, being rumbler or whatever but they shot two goals in that two minutes and Tiana rebounded probably three balls.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, and Tiana said after the game that their shooters were still looking at each other going well, which way do we go? Where do we go? Because tiana was a mobile player, so she would. She was jumping from one player to the next. They they couldn't capitalize. They didn't capitalize on that, um, so that's.

Speaker 1:

That's happened in the third quarter, where jessie bamlett got sent off to for two minutes. I think it's a shit rule because I'll both going up for the ball. Jess Bam was just a bit late, but I think if she came in with her left arm or left hand she probably would have got her welfare, but she didn't. She came in with the right, so that's unfortunate, but yeah, as I said, they didn't capitalize on it, so that was a missed opportunity by Nathalia. So anyway, fourth quarter as I said, they were probably thinking, well, we can't really do something they were getting.

Speaker 1:

You know, I find a lot of teams. They weren't rough, but they started to get a little bit more physical. They've lost the game. Yeah, why get physical? Yeah, they just couldn't match Rambalara in that last quarter. Again, rambalara just shooting willy-nilly. Their defenders were just lost because you could tell when they were getting beaten by Jess Barnes. Jess had missed a shot, but her tenaciousness to win that rebound was just unbelievable. Sarah again being that defensive center.

Speaker 1:

Lani you know Cara Blizzard who, as I said, she's over 300 games or whatever for Sheppard United, has won BNFs, won premierships, knows all about it. Lani actually played a damn good game of netball on her. Lani matched it with her. Obviously, you know, cara's got a little bit more speed than Larnie, but just the way Larnie set herself up, how she positioned herself with her, and that was just. Yeah, it was good to watch. And my hat goes off to Larnie because, yeah, she did play on probably one of the best mid-quarters at GBL I've seen for a long, long time and she did it well.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, sitting that last quarter, yeah, nathalia, just they couldn't match it, like they were 20-odd goals down already. They got a couple of goals they got. There was a point there in the last quarter where they, I think, shot three goals in a row, so sort of rumbler. Yeah, I don't know whether they went to sleep or whether they just thought, oh yeah, we've won the game, but they, they needed to learn that, they needed to play the game out and really just put their foot on their throat and say no. So, um, yeah, it was just at the end of the day, it was just Rumbler. It was all Rumbler, except for that third quarter.

Speaker 1:

As I said, sarah played a great game, larnie played a great game. Kai. Just her speed into that circle was unbelievable. And then just Jess and Soph in that shooting circle, just confusing the defenders. They just did not know what to do. They didn't know whether to double-team Jess, double-team Soph, go one-on-one. They tried everything and they got beaten. And then, as I said, brianna Warpole to her credit. If she wasn't on they would have lost by a lot more. But yeah, she was getting her goals in probably halfway through the third quarter. She played a damn good game for them. She was consistent in her shooting.

Speaker 1:

As I said, rebecca Bond, maybe it was just an off day, Maybe she was just nervous, but yeah, she got beaten comprehensively and she just couldn't shoot. She just could not shoot. She came off a couple of times. She came off and Abby Bell came on. Now Abby played a hell of a lot better game than what Rebecca did, but they took her off again and brought Rebecca back on. So I don't know why I would have kept Abby on and just continued letting her shoot, because when she came on her and Brianna really worked together, very speedy, very strong shooters.

Speaker 1:

But at the end of the day they didn't get the chocolates, it all fell down for them. They're defensive. They couldn't do anything for jess and soph um their shooters. Um, yeah, there was a lot of times there where tiana and jess would just they would hold their defensive, like their defense, um, they would hold it, hold it, hold, and it was over three seconds, four seconds, and, yeah, they'd shoot a goal. And then there was a lot of times where they just could not shoot. They just could not shoot because of the defensive pressure that Tiana Steele and Jess Bamber put on.

Speaker 1:

So, as I said, final scores were 63-34. So in that last quarter, rumba put 14 goals on 2-7 um nathalia. So, really, yeah, you look at that and you go, okay, well, yeah, 17 goals a game. So they'll what three goals down to getting their 17 for the fourth. Uh, five goals down, five, yep, five goals down um, they're getting there 17 for the third. So, yeah, they really yeah. If that was their case, they were sort of underdone a bit, but I mean probably come down to a little bit of, yeah, a bit of nerves and everything else. But at the end of the day they did win um, yeah, 63 to 34. So 29 goals um at the end, which is probably the norm for rumballara at the moment. But, yeah, great win in front of a home crowd, in front of a big crowd.

Speaker 1:

It was actually I'm not going to lie Nathalia came and the funny thing was getting back to that in the first quarter. For the first five minutes Nathalia were up and about. They were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, they were cheering every goal. But as soon as Rambalara got a steam on, they just yeah, they sort of just lost it. And my hat goes off to the Nathaya guy that was standing behind me, or sitting behind me, because even in the dying minutes and I think Nathaya got a goal, he was still cheering. So I thought that was fantastic too. So now Rambalara move on. So Nathalia lost a spot now on the ladder. So they were fifth. Now they go down to sixth.

Speaker 1:

It's going to be hard for them because there's three teams on. I think it's 32, yeah, I think 32, or maybe 30, I think, or I think they're maybe 30, I think, I think they're on 32. But there's three teams on 32, which are second, third and fourth, which is Finlay, moama, tongala, and then you've got a game or a game and a half back to Mathia. So it's very tight up in that mid-pack of the ladder. Obviously, rambalara, you know two games clear. I think they're two games clear. It could be three games clear in the next couple of weeks because a couple of those top teams play each other. So yeah, it's Nathalia, I think, now in a bit of a predicament. They need to win probably another three, four games to play finals because, as I said, they're in sixth and they're just in front of Danny and Moela, I think, unless Moela's fifth, I really can't remember now. But yeah, they sort of left themselves in a bit of a predicament. So the next couple of rounds they need to really start winning games.

Speaker 1:

For Rumble R, I think they just continue doing what they're doing. As I said, they got Emily back this week. They play Beruga. So, yeah, whether they rest players or not, I don't know. Yes, bamlett said that she might have a rest, so yeah, it'll all depend on how it pans out in the first quarter. I guess, yeah, with Beruga all of a sudden putting the pressure on them and, for unknown reasons, they're two goals down. I don't think that that's what they do, but I think more so that they'll probably be 20 goals up, maybe 30 goals up, I don't know. Rumble I just need to continue doing what they're doing. Rest a couple of players when they can. I think they've got a boy in a couple of weeks too.

Speaker 1:

The next game that they need to really really get over would be finley. So, feeling at the moment a dark horse, um, very weird, very weird. Uh, apparently they've still got the same people as last year, but chelsea, mcdonald, a couple others, I don't know. So they're the underdog well, they're the. Not the under. Well, they are the underdog, but they're they're sleeping under the. They're the underdog Well, they are the underdog, but they're sleeping under the. They're going under the radar at the moment Finlay, and I think that's what they like. So, yeah, so that is it. Rumble Oaks has got to continue doing what they're doing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, after the game yesterday, nathalia really need to start looking at winning some games and putting together consistent games and maybe look at their shooters, because, yeah, yesterday they weren't very good. Brianna was probably quarter and a half, so half of the third quarter and all of the last, but other than that, not very good at all. So, anyway, that is me, brett. Thank you very much for listening. I'll do a preview of the Beruga game on Wednesday, maybe Tuesday, but yeah, as I said, that was yesterday Rambalara victorious over Nathaya 63 to 34. Yeah, nathaya didn't have no, they just had no match for Rumbelar. And Rumbelar are really, really looking strong. They are very like I had a Nathalia supporter behind us yesterday and they said that how Rumbelar looks so fit and they were running games out.

Speaker 1:

They were running the ball out and they were just and then slowing it down, so they were doing a slow ball play. They were running the ball out and then slowing it down, so they were doing a slow ball play. They were doing fast ball plays and they've got a real good connection there at Rumblar at the moment the girls are really really getting on loving their netball, loving winning. So hopefully they get over Finlay and then last two games, getting over Moama and Tony and moving to finals. But at the moment it's still every day, one day at a time. So yeah, that's it for me.

Speaker 1:

Great day yesterday at Rumbelara. Fantastic day Sun was out. Brand new facilities for Rumbelara. Fantastic day Sun was out. Brand new facilities for Rumbelara. Crowd was enormous. Crowd was great. Great win by Rumbelara on the A-grade netball Undefeated.

Speaker 1:

Still Got Beruga this week. Finlay needed a little bit of work. My best players probably Sarah, jesse, barnes, and I would give it to Nakai. She did play well, but Nathalia, look, yeah, I don't really know. I think they just relied on each other to carry them through, so I wouldn't have a clue who would be their best. But yeah, for Rumba, those three girls. But yeah, that was it.

Speaker 1:

I hope you enjoyed the podcast. As I said, I'll do a preview of the Rumbalara-Baruga game on Tuesday with a few more stats and figures. Hopefully, fingers crossed, I'll have an interview with someone special on Thursday as well, so I might do a review after the interview. But yeah, rumballara, the juggernaut continues rampaging. Rumballara, they are continually moving forward to one qualify for finals and two to win a premiership. And the way they're going, I think, yeah, we can get all excited, but we just need to, yeah, just contain it and see how it goes. So that is me, brett. Thank you very much for listening, much appreciated. Have a great weekend. Have a great week. Rumblar away next week to Baruga. But yesterday they were victorious over Nathalia 63-34. But yesterday they were victorious over Nathalia 63-34. Um, another, another demolishing team. And yeah, the way they're going, they're looking the goods, but you know who's to say. Anyway, that is me. Thank you very much for listening. Have a great day, have a great weekend. I'm out, bye.
