Speaker 1:

Morning my neighbors.

Speaker 2:

It's time to rise and shine and get your morning started with Alabama's award-winning morning show we have hit the motherland. Hey, it's morning time Broadcasting live from high atop Alabama's beautiful Sand Mountain. We're no strangers to love.

Speaker 4:

You know the rules and so do I. I listen to you guys every day, every hour, all the time. Keep it here and listen for this.

Speaker 2:

Please welcome your hosts. Barry, you probably won't believe this, but I was bullied in high school for being too handsome.

Speaker 1:

I don't believe you. You're right, it was for setting my crotch on fire in shop class.

Speaker 3:

And Holly. The English language cannot fully capture the depth and complexity of my thoughts, so I'm incorporating emoji into my speech to better express myself.

Speaker 2:

Linky faith let's play this backwards and see if it gets any better good morning, it's 6 11.

Speaker 4:

I know we're running a bit behind, a bit behind, sorry we are. We're a minute behind there's a good reason good calls yes because people have been uh dropping off dog food since uh what? 5, 3030. And that is awesome. Yes, woodstock 2024 is officially underway, collecting dog food already up to almost 300 pounds.

Speaker 5:

Yes, we're already up to almost 300 pounds. And let me tell you, Barry, we have a ton of dog food. We have 280 pounds, but it costs 300 pounds to feed in one day.

Speaker 4:

Well, so all this going to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz All month long. I know we're wrapping up May today, last year May, but all during June. You have until June 30th. There's many ways you can drop it off this morning and if you want one of the tie-dyed t-shirts, we have 75. Actually, we have less now. Yeah, we have less.

Speaker 5:

How many now?

Speaker 4:

because how many do we have now? How many people? Three, four, five, six, seven people have been by. Hey say thank you to the people who've stopped by this.

Speaker 5:

Okay, so thank you to ray amberson. He is a real estate agent. Know him through my dad, love him. Thank you, ray amberson. Yep, and smith and john smith. I stopped in the parking lot. Yes, you called me and said yes, from crossville. They said you said where are you at? I said I'm on my way. You can't take a picture because you're one-handed. You're doing show.

Speaker 5:

I can probably do a better job than I'm kidding I came in on two wheels and one of our other junior croft. He yeah, junior drops every year helps us out he said holly, you've taken up two parking spots out there. You did, yeah, I did. I know what were you doing. I was coming in on two wheels trying to get a picture. Holly, you've taken up two parking spots out there. You did, yeah, I did, I know what were you doing. I was coming in on two wheels trying to get a picture of Ann Smith?

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 5:

Because I thought she was the first that had brought off the dog food. So, the job before the parking spot. You know, yeah, and so thank you to Eric Ballou and Adrian Ballou and to Macy Adams from Altoona.

Speaker 4:

And you can see one picture we have one of. I think it's Ann. Let me see. Yeah, it's Ann With the t-shirts and you get. If you're one of the first 75 people to drop it off and you drop off 30 pounds or more, you get a beautiful Woodstock tie-dye t-shirt. And I asked Ann they're out in the lobby and she said she loves it, maybe one of the best ones we've had.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, she had the one on from last year and it's beautiful too, but this one and you can kind of see it in the picture you can but it was so. These are so cute. They look like a Snoop Dogg version it does.

Speaker 4:

If Snoop were to be a real dog, that would be Snoop yeah, snoop Dogg. But I tell you the picture doesn't do the t-shirt justice. Dixie designs and boaz did an amazing job again printing these and, uh, donating all these. So if you now, even if you don't get one of the first 75 tie-dye shirts, the other colors are still beautiful. I saw a dark blue one in there.

Speaker 5:

The logo just pops on the dark blue oh yeah, and you can see ann's is orange. We had a various assortment last year too, didn't we have?

Speaker 4:

colors, all different colors, all different colors. And you canortment last year too, didn't we?

Speaker 5:

We did All different colors, All different colors. And you can see hers last year. It looks good on those solid colors. So if you can't make it by, don't panic. But but I have to tell you a way that you can beat the system and get your tie-dye t-shirt. Okay, you can order from Amazoncom, chewycom or Walmart and have it delivered here to our station. Call us with your order number and we will hold a t-shirt for you and you can just come by and pick it up.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, we will Just give us a little proof that you have ordered and we'll save you a tie-dyed t-shirt. And we have all different sizes too.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, we have small to 3X.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, we do, and these are beautiful, so feel free. The doors are open now if you want to pick up and Purina. People are listening People are listening.

Speaker 5:

Everything that was brought in has been Purina, so I know I'm not supposed to say this on air and I did it yesterday. Yeah, but don't bring us old Roy.

Speaker 4:

Old Roy, it's not good for their tummies, tears their tummies up, tears them up.

Speaker 5:

So just bring us some Purina or some higher brand.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5:

So we can cause less cleanup for Second Chance.

Speaker 4:

Shelter. Later this morning Holly's going to put up the dog of the day. We're going to pick a dog that needs adopted at Second Chance Shelter. Would love to be adopted and put a picture up and say maybe you can look at it and say that's the dog I want.

Speaker 4:

That's the one. Yeah, so a lot of stuff going on today. It's going to be a fun day. It's going to be a beautiful day Sunshine 85, no chance of rain. Tomorrow, though, the weather has changed a little. Now there's still just a 50-50 chance of rain, but now they're showing the rain's going to come in a little bit earlier. So it looks like the start popping up earlier in the morning, but then it's going to stop for a while, with more possible later in the afternoon. So it's not going to rain all day Tomorrow. Tomorrow Don't let this change your plans at all, because we have Maid on the Mountain in Albertville. In downtown Albertville, we have the June Jam tomorrow, so there is a chance of seeing some rain early in the morning. Then it's going to stop, according to this, and then may come back again later in the day and tomorrow night is it supposed to thunder?

Speaker 5:

there's a possibility of thunderstorm I was gonna say because rain shows at a music festival are fine, they are yeah, thunderstorms are no fun because they stop everything.

Speaker 4:

Everybody has to go to the car yes, and that and that stinks, but you get to play in the mud.

Speaker 5:

It's like, it's like woodstock again, absolutely j Junestock.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, junestock. So anyway, the weather tomorrow looks good. You're probably going to see rain at some point, but it's not going to rain all day. Then, Sunday about a 60% chance of rain, mainly early Sunday morning. This morning, beautiful 53 in Fort Payne, 58 in Gadsden. We're at 60 here at WQSV. How do you know Things you need to know this morning? It's the last day of May, final day of May. Things you need to know, need to think about today, what's going on today?

Speaker 5:

Today is National Tabletop Game Day and these board games. They hit a huge surge during COVID the most popular board games, number one. This surprises me.

Speaker 4:

It does me too. It's chess. I wouldn't have guessed that, but it's a board game.

Speaker 5:

I wouldn't have guessed it's the most popular.

Speaker 4:

I don't think checkers will be higher than chess.

Speaker 5:

Checkers didn't make the list.

Speaker 4:

Nope, didn't.

Speaker 5:

Number two is Monopoly. Number three is Risk. I don't know that game.

Speaker 4:

It takes so long. It's where you have to try to rule the world, take control of.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, scrabble Love.

Speaker 4:

Scrabble and Battleship, love Battleship. We used to play Battleship with a piece of paper when I was little. Oh, really we didn't have the real game. So you get a piece of paper and you draw out your 1 through 10, then your A through whatever letter, then you have your own paper and you play. Hey, there you go.

Speaker 5:

Because we couldn't afford the real game. Yeah, yeah Well. Warner Brothers Discovery Home Entertainment just announced Friends, the complete series, on 4K Ultra HD, available September 24th of this year. The set is available for pre-order now. All 236 episodes of Friends have been remastered for this collection and it will present in 4K for the first time ever, I know.

Speaker 4:

Look at the price, look at the price.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

The Amazon price is $249.99. That's not $2.49. That's $200. $249.99.

Speaker 4:

Every episode, extra footage and $250. It's on 4K so it's going to look fantastic, but 250 dollars yeah, that's too much they say if you're tired of scanning around trying to find the episode you like on tv on the streamer streamers now you can own it yeah, but if it saves me 250 yeah, I'll just keep flipping around. Yeah, I'll just flip and google. That's expensive, yep.

Speaker 5:

And then I have trouble saying this word, but I thought about this. Okay, has anybody ever lived long enough to buy a second bottle of Worcestershire sauce? You only need one.

Speaker 4:

It lasts forever. It lasts forever. It really does. I know. I've never thought about that. I've got a bottle. I guess it has an expiration date. I guess I should check it. Sure, it does. I've got a bottle. I guess it has an expiration date. I guess I should check it.

Speaker 5:

Sure it does.

Speaker 4:

I've had it in the refrigerator forever.

Speaker 5:

You've probably been using it way past expiration date.

Speaker 4:

One bottle per family is all you need for a lifetime. That's it for a lifetime? Yeah, 619.

Speaker 2:

WQSB Mornings with Barry and Holly.

Speaker 4:

QSB Jason Aldean, let your boys be. Country 623, barry and Holly, you're busy, are you okay?

Speaker 5:

My back, my back is killing me from carrying the show. Oh, carrying the show. No, listen, Let me tell you. Barry, I woke up, had a nice little morning, came to work, went to go get everything ready. Got all my coffee, got a new coffee cup, excited about that. Got everything fixed and then the dog food starts coming in, which is awesome. Which is awesome.

Speaker 4:

We had another lady a few minutes ago.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, Miss Debbie McDaniel. Yeah, miss Debbie McDaniel came by and brought something, and I have been back and forth from the back to the front probably 50 times, so I'm going to need two cups of coffee today.

Speaker 4:

You are. But hey, thank you for breaking in the dog food. This is day one of Wolfstock 2024. 30 pounds or more gets you a tie-dye T-shirt. I knew people would go crazy over these.

Speaker 5:

They're going fast, though, because they're beautiful. Yes, they are.

Speaker 4:

I've got to tell you they are going fast and we will run out. Yeah, but don't worry If the tie-dye runs out, we still have other colors which are still good-looking T-shirts. Yeah, they sure are, but thank you so much for bringing them. We're over what? 300 pounds now.

Speaker 5:

Mm-hmm. We hit 280 plus 30.

Speaker 4:

So 310. Yeah 310. Very good, awesome, and it's all going, all going to our buddies at Second Chance Shelter in Boas. So if you need details on how you can help, we're doing it all month long in June until June 30th, so there's many ways you can help out Other things going on this. You know I can't help you as much and I apologize. With one arm I can't bring in the dog food like I used to.

Speaker 5:

I'm sweating, but it's okay. I need to sweat. You're doing good. You're doing good shaking right hands. Yeah, I'm really proud of you, but I can use one of these.

Speaker 4:

I think Scientists have now created a third thumb, A third thumb, and it goes on whichever hand you choose. University of Cambridge have created a third thumb that people can use to open bottles, sort through playing cards with one hand. It attaches to your right hand and you can see a picture of this on our Facebook page If you click on the video. This is so cool. It's not skin and bone like your regular thumb, but it's like something you'd see like a prosthetic, and it wraps around your wrist a little strap and then the thumb is positioned right below your pinky finger, so you get your regular thumb on one side, then the new thumb it's a plastic prosthetic on the left side and then when you squeeze, it helps you with an extra finger.

Speaker 5:

Oh hey, I could use that bringing all these dog food bags in.

Speaker 4:

See, and if you watch it, you have to watch the way I do it. Oh, I'm watching it. Yeah, I had to watch it, but it shows them like doing different things.

Speaker 5:

I had dog food back then, see, and if you watch it, you have to watch the light here. I'm watching it. Yeah, I had to watch it.

Speaker 4:

But it shows them like doing different things, oh yeah, and they say it's very handy, somehow it attaches to it's. I don't know the science behind all this.

Speaker 5:

That's weird, but look at her.

Speaker 4:

She's opening up a bottle, because it now kind of twist off the bottle cap.

Speaker 5:

That's what you need.

Speaker 4:

Exactly.

Speaker 5:

Because you can't twist anything right now.

Speaker 4:

This is okay. Yeah, I'm watching it. This is a great idea. They said it's especially for somebody who may have lost a hand or an arm. This will be something that you could use.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 4:

And the science behind this. It says it's controlled by a sensor placed under the big toes in your foot, in your shoe. Wow, the device is helpful for people to do things like well, opening things, bags, bottles, whatever you can think of Great idea.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, that is a great idea. I could have used this when the girls were younger. Yeah, use your thumb, hold a diaper.

Speaker 4:

Can you imagine the look on somebody's face when you walk up and and they don't? They don't realize you have this on.

Speaker 5:

You reach out and shake their hand you got six fingers, you got to grab six fingers you've got six fingers five fingers and plastic, then the bottom thumb is like wrapping around their wrist.

Speaker 4:

You're gonna get some looks. I would give them a heads up first, say hey, I've got this on. Yeah, but don't be alarmed it's's not going to hurt you. Yeah it's weird. For sure they're going to be making these available sometime in the near future for people to be able to buy and use.

Speaker 5:

Let me see, I'm curious. So there's no surgery involved.

Speaker 4:

No it just straps onto your wrist and there you go.

Speaker 5:

That's crazy. I'm trying to skim through the article real quick. I just wonder how much it's going to cost. I think it's going to be expensive I bet it is.

Speaker 4:

I bet it's expensive, I bet it is too. It doesn't give a price yet, but it should be available sometime later this year.

Speaker 5:

That's so cool. It says that 98% of participants were able to successfully manipulate objects using the third thumb during the first moment of use.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, they said very easy to use. That's so cool. It shows a kid here. That's so cool, it shows a kid here. She apparently doesn't have one of her fingers and she's able to do other things that she hasn't been able to do before. Hmm, that's neat, great idea.

Speaker 2:

I love stuff like that All right 628. Mornings with Barry and Hall here on Alabama's country giant WQSB.

Speaker 4:

Time for you. I'm going to give you a little spelling bee here. Okay, last night they wrapped up the national spelling bee and this amazes me to watch these kids spell these words. I've never heard of these words and they can spell them like it's nobody's business. The winner is 12-year-old, is it Bruja? Soma, I don't know how you say it? From St Petersburg, florida, he won the big prize last night. They have spellers from over 50 states across the globe. He wins $50,000 in cash and he spelled. Actually, they had a tie, they had a tie and him and the other kid they had a spell off and they gave them let's see 90 seconds and gave them as many words as possible and they had to spell as many of these words correctly in 90 seconds. Now, soma, the winner spelled 29 out of the 30 words correctly and won the spell-off and is the winner. Here's a piece of audio of him in action spelling some of these words Hyperkeem. H-y-p-o-r-c-h-e-m-e Bicellium B-I-S-C-L-L-I-U-M.

Speaker 7:

Mcteric. M-y-c-t-e-r-s-e. Endacia. E-n-d-e-c-h-a. Saracen. S-e-r-s-e-r-n. Nyctalopia.

Speaker 4:

I don't even know what this means. I have no idea. No idea. That was like the lightning round and he won. That is amazing man. They are so smart. Yeah, your days in school.

Speaker 5:

We didn't have spelling bees, did you?

Speaker 4:

We did. We had spelling bees and I hated them Because I was shy in school. Did you have to enter it. Well, the room was like English. They would stand everybody up in the room around the wall.

Speaker 4:

And then she'd give you a word and if you got it right, you kept standing. What did you do, baby? The minute you missed, you sat down. It didn't matter what word she gave me, I would misspell it on purpose to sit down, to sit down, because I didn't want to be standing up. I remember one of the times she said okay, spell your name barry.

Speaker 5:

I said b-u-n-c and she said go sit down, she knew I didn't want to be here god, we got the dog food coming in y'all, oh my gosh this is amazing. Oh my gosh, this is amazing, hey, um.

Speaker 4:

So I misspelled it on purpose.

Speaker 5:

Okay, so I think that you did terrible in school, but I think you could have done really good.

Speaker 4:

I could have, you could have done great. I did a stride you went on to college.

Speaker 3:

Well, yeah.

Speaker 5:

And graduated with a degree.

Speaker 4:

I did.

Speaker 5:

So you had? You had to apply yourself, didn't you?

Speaker 4:

Yes, yes. So I'm going to give you some words. Oh Lord, okay, these are some of the ones they use from the actual spelling bees.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

These are some of the easier words, so let's see how good you are. You ready? Yep Snippet.

Speaker 5:

S-N-I-P-P-E-T. Oh, look at you.

Speaker 4:

Thank you Okay a little harder now.

Speaker 5:

Hodgepodge H-O-D-G-E-P-O-D-G-E.

Speaker 4:

Wow, I know We'll go down to the next level here. Okay, such a breeze to do these. Yeah, magma.

Speaker 5:

M-A-G-M-A.

Speaker 4:

Oh, good job, Magma. Okay, what about marvelous?

Speaker 5:

Oh no, I can't Come on. M-a-r-v-e-l-o-u-s.

Speaker 4:

Whoa Look at you, wow. Okay, what about kosher?

Speaker 5:

K-A-S-H-E-R.

Speaker 4:

Got O in there, k-o. I said K-O.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I said A. I said that wouldO-O. I said A, that would be Casher.

Speaker 3:

I meant O, don't go back.

Speaker 4:

Don't go back, because there's no second chance. There's no. Casher, okay, what about Hawaiian?

Speaker 5:

H-A-W-A-I-I-A-N. You're better than I thought.

Speaker 4:

Okay, let's find another one here. Okay, give me a good one. Okay, let me find a difficult level. Okay, periwinkle.

Speaker 5:

P-E-R-I-W-I-N-K-L-E.

Speaker 4:

You said you were no good at this.

Speaker 5:

You're killing it.

Speaker 4:

I'm a hidden talent. What about deceitful?

Speaker 5:

Oh, I can't do I's and E's D-E-C. Then I depend on autocorrect. More dog food coming in Okay, d-e-c-i. Autocorrect. More dog food coming in, d-e-c-i. I before E, except after C, it's C-E-C-E-I. Yes.

Speaker 4:

You were so close, I know. Okay, let's see Congeniality.

Speaker 5:

Okay, c-o-g-e-n. Okay, I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

Speaker 4:

You left out the N Congeniality. Okay, last one Terrarium.

Speaker 5:

What is?

Speaker 4:

that.

Speaker 5:

Oh, t-e-r-r-a-r-i-u-m A-R. No terrarium T-. I just said one letter, hold on, wait a minute, let me have one more chance. No, t-r-r-t-r-a-r-i-u-m, I don't know.

Speaker 4:

Okay, last word. Okay, deceptively.

Speaker 5:

I can't do I's and E's. You're doing this on purpose D-E-C-I before E E-I-C. What was?

Speaker 4:

the word. I don't even remember the word you left out. The P had a silent P. I did. Deceptively. You missed it. You missed it. But no, these are easy words for. But these kids are spelling words I have no clue. I've never even heard of those words and the little guy won 50 grand. But being able to do this amazes me.

Speaker 5:

Isn't it crazy how much we depend on autocorrect.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 5:

I'm going to put up a Facebook poll and say how much do you depend on autocorrect and our listeners just give us your answers if you use it for every text message? And I think this is probably. I'm stepping out on a limb here, but this is probably one of our little tastes of AI.

Speaker 4:

It is.

Speaker 5:

You know, because it predicts your next words. And it tells you what you should say but sometimes it's so wrong, yes, it is Like yesterday when it was telling you to eat a rock a day, yeah, or smoke three cigarettes a day.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I was tapped in and I was going to look at the crock pot the other day. Yeah, it gave me a different word. It did not give me crock.

Speaker 5:

Did you forget a letter?

Speaker 4:

I just typed in the C and then it gave me the form of a bird. Oh, that's not what I need. That's not what I thought you were going to say.

Speaker 2:

I want a slow-cook meeting. I don't want any of that. It's 6 to 46. Barry and Holly on Alabama's Country, Giant WQSB.

Speaker 4:

Speaking of twisters, that movie opens up later this summer. As far as this weekend, I noticed only one movie and the reviews say it's okay. I don't see it doing very well, Do you?

Speaker 5:

No, the new movies in theaters this weekend is Summer Camp. It's rated PG-13. It stars Diane Keaton and Kathy Bates. I love Kathy.

Speaker 4:

Bates and Diane Keaton. But I saw a trailer. It just doesn't look very good. Doesn't look good?

Speaker 5:

No, Well, this one probably will. Chris Hemsworth is in talks to join the crossover film between the Transformers and the GI Joe.

Speaker 4:

That's a great idea that is a great idea. Great idea.

Speaker 3:

Great idea.

Speaker 5:

This is going to be the first time that the two popular 80s brands come together on the big screen, although they've previously crossed over in Marvel Comics.

Speaker 4:

I love GI Joe's and Transformers. I think that'll be a good movie.

Speaker 5:

That'll be a good one, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Love Hemsworth too.

Speaker 5:

Yep, my kids will be excited about this and I know a lot of other kids will be too. Yep, Netflix is going to produce an animated series based on the hit video game Minecraft.

Speaker 4:

Yes, sir.

Speaker 5:

Yep. The animated show which was announced to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the game will offer an original story with new characters. That's described as showing the world of Minecraft in a new light.

Speaker 4:

Kids love that game. They do Well, adults do too.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I know, I don't.

Speaker 3:

I've never, really played it. I have yeah.

Speaker 5:

And I don't get it. You just build things with blocks and then you smash it down, but you can have like cows and sheeps and they're all made of blocks and it's really cute, that's cool, but you can hurt them and they go and they turn red.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that's how they go, yeah, and they turn red. What was that supposed to be? A cow or a?

Speaker 5:

sheep, I don't know. Whatever you think it is, I have no idea.

Speaker 4:

Whatever your interpretation is, it's a mixture of a cow and a sheep.

Speaker 5:

I was really going for a cat.

Speaker 4:

Oh, it was a cat yeah, oh, my bad.

Speaker 5:

There's no cat in Minecraft by a cow.

Speaker 4:

Okay, now we know How'd it go again. Yep, that's what happened the cow stepped on the cat. That's sad. I want one of these popcorn buckets.

Speaker 5:

I know you do. Ryan Reynolds unveiled a Deadpool and Wolverine themed popcorn bucket inspired by the viral Dune 2 design. Love it. It resembles Wolverine's head with an oversized mouth to reach in and get the popcorn. This is awesome.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it resembles Wolverine's head with an oversized mouth to reach in and get the popcorn. This is awesome. Yeah, it's Wolverine. He's got a giant mouth open as wide as it can, and that's where the popcorn goes.

Speaker 5:

And it says designed by Deadpool.

Speaker 4:

Deadpool.

Speaker 5:

And you told me about it and I thought it was going to be funny, but I had to see the picture You've got to see it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, you've got to see the picture and I've got to have one when the movie comes out. That's supposed to be the biggest movie of the year, really, and the trailer has been one of the most watched trailers of all time of any trailer ever and the movie looks good. Oh, I can't wait to see it, it comes out in a couple of months, oh, yeah, all right, 655 birthdays are next. Wqsb all four number one songs.

Speaker 5:

Oh, you can't beat that.

Speaker 4:

Nope, and he's got brand new stuff coming out. All four of these also came off the first album, yeah. So he has a new album coming out very soon. 7-eleven boy. It's been a great morning for Wolfstock 2024. I want to thank our listeners for coming by, had a chance to go out and say hi to Josh Phillips. Yes, phillips, yes, I'm encouraged. Josh encouraged me because he said he also had shoulder surgery back recently and I watched him.

Speaker 5:

He was moving his arm nicely he lifted 80 pounds of dog food, barry.

Speaker 4:

So he's you're gonna be all right because at this point I'm no better than I know what's frustrating.

Speaker 5:

I know, but what's frustrating for you is you said you feel no different this Friday as compared to last Friday, and last Friday you were one day post-op.

Speaker 4:

We were back here after surgery and oh my goodness.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

It was a tough day. Yeah, it was tough, but I know it's a tough go. They told me it would be. It's going to take a few months.

Speaker 5:

Well, I think when you were, you did a good job not to Google, but you did Google. The night before, yeah, and you sent me a screenshot and sent a text that said three to six months for recovery. And you were like, oh my gosh, how am I going to get through this? And you're doing it, though You're doing all the stuff you're supposed to be doing. Everybody that has come in has asked him how he's doing.

Speaker 4:

I appreciate that and so people want to know. Very nice, he's doing great.

Speaker 5:

He's not sleeping at all.

Speaker 4:

No, sleeping is the hardest part. I'm a side sleeper In this one you almost have to sleep on your back, and I cannot sleep on my back. I've tried recliners and I just don't want to take medicine to sleep. I don't like the feeling of that. It's going to be alright, but I have rehab this morning again, so it's getting better. But, Josh, nice to meet you. Thank you for the dog food, but we've had more. Now go over some of those who dropped off dog food this morning.

Speaker 5:

Okay, yeah, so Josh did. And then Holly Pendergraft, jade Ellick, Rayleigh Hope with her mom, autumn I saw Autumn out there Debbie McDaniel and I don't know how to say this name, but I love it. Milana I think it's Milana Gilliland from Boaz, but I'm going to tell you Crossville is showing up. Well, yes, they are. I've got one, two, three, four, five people from Crossville, one person from Albertville. I am challenging, I am throwing out a challenge that we hit 2 000 dog pounds of dog food today before nine o'clock no way.

Speaker 4:

No, we can't do that before nine one thousand yeah we get it one thousand.

Speaker 5:

You're out of your mind. No, not, I'm not. I could you. I'm not. Do you not believe in our listeners?

Speaker 4:

I love our listeners, but they know they're busy this morning and they have an entire month to make this happen. They've got to come, yeah, and if they want the tie-dye t-shirt, you have to be one of the first 75, because we only have 75 of the tie-dye, which we now only have about what? 65, a little bit less, and those are going fast. Now, if you donate 30 pounds or more, you get a T-shirt, and these, I think, in my opinion, is the best T-shirt we've had, the prettiest one, the coolest looking one, and thank you to Dixie Designs and Boaz, they nailed it again this year.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, if you want to see what it looks like, go to our Facebook page. At the very top. It shows you what one of those. Even if the tie-dyes are gone, you still get a t-shirt. Oh yeah, A Wolfstock t-shirt. They'll be just in different colors.

Speaker 5:

Let me ask you this If we give out enough and we've used up all our shirts, is Dixie Designs going to make us more shirts? They sure will.

Speaker 4:

They'll keep on making the shirts.

Speaker 5:

That's awesome. They've been fantastic but no tie-dye. This. We have a lot that we have, yes.

Speaker 4:

Yes. So anyway, feel free to drop them off during business hours. Now today's different. We're doing it for early this morning. Now it's like tomorrow. Offices are closed Saturday and Sundays, but you can drop it off anytime, monday through Friday between 8 and 5. So just make a note Between now and June 30th, brain Dog Food all goes to Second Chance Shelter in Belance.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, but do it now, because I say we can get a thousand pounds before the end of the show. I hope we do and Barry says I don't know, so let's do it, I'd love to. I'm going to win.

Speaker 4:

Because now we're over. Is it 520,? I think it's in 520. 520 right now.

Speaker 5:

We're halfway there. Crossville beat us. Barry's from Crossville, I'm from Albertville. Let's let Albertville win. Come on, albertville people. We got Rural King right down the road from us. Swing by Rural King, pick you up $30 worth of dog food. We're looking for 30 pounds. There was a debate on this on Facebook last night and it was do y'all need $30 or Because? Do y'all need $30 or 30 pounds? We?

Speaker 4:

need 30 pounds. 30 pounds gets you a t-shirt 30 pounds, which roughly 30 pounds is about $30.

Speaker 5:

And that's why we say $30. Yeah, because that's about what it is. But we've had people like Josh Phillips. We just talked about him. He brought in 80 pounds of dog food.

Speaker 4:

The more the better. Thank you so much. The more the better. Yes. Feed, the better thank you so much, yeah, those dogs.

Speaker 5:

So we almost have enough to feed these dogs for two days. Sure do, and it is 7, 17 in the morning, yeah, so we're doing a good job. We're on the right track so thank you so much.

Speaker 4:

I want to congratulate audrey hilburn, our listener of the day yay, audrey audrey for listening. You are the official wqsp list of the day and you get a morning show t-shirt. Now your job to be listening today is simple listen to our podcast, which will be on our Facebook page coming up after 9. Listen to it, comment on it. Then Monday we'll have another listener of the day, yeah, so thank you very much, audrey, for being the listener of the day.

Speaker 5:

And I have something special I have to. We have one birthday that was not sent in. We did. It is a very special birthday. It is it's one of our most give me a word, our most dedicated listeners.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

I love them. Mitch Crow. It's Mitch Crow's birthday and his brother, his twin brother, scott. Yes, it is Mitch's birthday and, mitch, we have something for you. We sure do so. Just come by the station.

Speaker 4:

And for Scott too.

Speaker 5:

And for Scott Let them know at the front that you're here to pick up your birthday gift. And this is special for Mitch, mitch is special to WQSB, so happy birthday.

Speaker 4:

We love Mitch, we love Dad, we love the family. They've been dedicated listeners for years, yeah, so thank you to Mitch and Scott and Tim and the family. Absolutely and yes, we have Mitch and Scott birthday presents here waiting on you.

Speaker 5:

We do, yeah, so just come up.

Speaker 4:

It's kind of late in time to pick them up. All right Time for the words of wisdom quote of the day. What have you got today?

Speaker 5:

I love this one. It says a bird is safe in its nest, but that is not what its wings are made for.

Speaker 4:

That's a good one. Oh, that's good. It has wings. For a reason, get up and.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, like get out there.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, fly.

Speaker 5:

See the world.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, don't just be happy sitting in your one spot all the time. Get out of that house, yeah, do something Bring me some dog food.

Speaker 5:

Be from Albertville, so I can be.

Speaker 4:

Barry, use those wings and bring some dog food. Yeah, it's 718.

Speaker 2:

Mornings with Barry and Holly here on Alabama's country giant WQSB In my belly.

Speaker 4:

Come on. Well, a couple of food stories are finally out. We've talked about these for weeks. Finally, Taco Bell releasing their big Cheez-Its.

Speaker 5:

Do you think they're really going to be in stores?

Speaker 4:

They say they're going to be in stores. It says select locations, so possibly hopefully everywhere. Not sure, but these are like the giant Cheez-It crackers. They're now going to be in stores in some locations starting today. They've teamed up with the Taco Bell and Cheez-It. They're calling it a game changer. What it is. It features a Cheez-It cracker that's 16 times larger than the original little crackers you get in the box.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

And in these they've got your choice. You get a Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme or a Big Cheez-It Tostada. Oh, which one are you going for? I like the Tostada because all the stuff is sitting on the cracker. Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 5:

I think I'm going to go for the Crunchwrap.

Speaker 4:

We'll have to try one this weekend if we can find one.

Speaker 5:

And what?

Speaker 4:

else.

Speaker 5:

McDonald's has just dropped two new flavors of McShaker Fries. What?

Speaker 4:

is that.

Speaker 5:

Well, you know, I'm sorry about it because it's in Canada, but you can get them in churro and masala seasoning I don't know what masala is.

Speaker 4:

What is masala? I don't know. Churro is going to be a sweet fry. How would you like that?

Speaker 5:

Hey Siri, what is masala flavoring?

Speaker 4:

It says it's a blend of ground spices.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, Indian spice.

Speaker 4:

Okay, so it's a blend of spices Cinnamon cumin and cloves. That'll be good then.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, that'll be good. So these look good to me. They come with the churro seasoning or the masala seasoning. I'm not sure if they're pre-shaking in there or you can shake it on yourself. I don't know, We'll see. And then Dairy Queen is testing a Cookie Monster dipped cone In select locations. The ice cream is blue, just like the Cookie Monster, and contains cookies and cream pieces. So that looks really good to me. So it's based on the Cookie.

Speaker 4:

Monster, the Cookie Monster. I'll have to try one Cookie. I love Cookie Monster. That'll be good. It's $7.26.

Speaker 2:

Barry and Holly on Alabama's Country, Giant WQSB.

Speaker 4:

The Come On man story. A guy in Michigan okay, you've got a suspended license. Yeah, that means you should not be driving correct.

Speaker 5:

That's correct.

Speaker 4:

Okay, a Michigan man was recorded driving with a suspended license as he attended a court hearing over Zoom. Zoom they had a court hearing over Zoom. The guy's name is Corey. He logged into Zoom a few days ago while he was behind the wheel and he was talking to the judge, had his little court hearing over Zoom Behind the wheel.

Speaker 4:

Well, you should probably have been at home doing this, but the judge noticed he looks like he was in a car. So they noticed that the guy pulled into a doctor's office. The judge clarified that they had proof that he went to a doctor's visit while he was behind the wheel, even though he had a suspended license During his court hearing. He was on the Zoom call driving and the judge noticed there's something wrong with his picture. It looks like he's behind the wheel. They did some checking, found out he was behind the wheel. He went to his doctor's visit, drove himself there.

Speaker 5:

I'm torn. I feel kind of bad for the guy I do too.

Speaker 4:

I know you got to do what you got to do, you got to go to the doctor, but you have a suspended license. You can't drive. You can't do that. No, the judge says I don't even know why he would do that. Uh, the guy appears to be shocked on the video, as a judge says excuse me, you're driving. You need to head to jail.

Speaker 5:

Yeah just oh, he told him to head.

Speaker 4:

He said well, since you're driving, drive yourself to jail?

Speaker 5:

no, because you can't be driving without a valid license. Yeah, how stupid is that.

Speaker 4:

If you've got to your court of hearing. I would pull over and then get out of the car.

Speaker 5:

This is probably one of my favorite come on man stories we've done this week. This is a true come on man.

Speaker 4:

Come on, man, you're behind the wheel, behind the wheel.

Speaker 5:

A.

Speaker 4:

Zoom call your court of hearing A Zoom call. You're court hearing. Zoom call Because you don't have a license and he's driving anyway. Talking to the judge.

Speaker 5:

Does it say how old he is? It doesn't say I'm curious, I'm just curious.

Speaker 4:

I'm not sure it doesn't give an answer, because that could go anywhere from Anywhere from the age of 19 to 88. It could, it could be anybody Not smart, it's 740. Wqsb Mornings with Barry and Holly Rachel's in here. We're about to put Rachel to work. She's about to be our dog food toter.

Speaker 5:

What.

Speaker 4:

Our dog food toter. You've got to have somebody to help you. I'm a toter. Here we go with the question from yesterday.

Speaker 5:

I don't think it was yesterday, I don't know. I'm on pain medicine?

Speaker 4:

No, you're not.

Speaker 5:

Don't tell people that starts rumors, he has literally taken one pain pill this whole entire time and that was because the nurses made him. Because he had tears rolling down his face, oh Mary.

Speaker 4:

But anyway, you've been working your little rear ear off this morning bringing the dog food in.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I've been running back and forth. Dog food's heavy, that's not a bad thing.

Speaker 4:

It's a good thing because our listeners have stepped up. So how much do we have already?

Speaker 5:

Listen, we're at 736 pounds. We can make it to 1,000, and I can win this bet and you will buy my lunch. I will, I'll take a lunch. I know, rachel, if we can make it to 1,000 pounds by 9 o'clock, barry's buying my lunch, all right, and if we don't make it to 1,000 pounds, I have to buy his lunch, okay. So I think we can do it. We're at 636.

Speaker 4:

No 736. Now, who are some of the ladies?

Speaker 5:

Our buddy yeah so he's from Perdido Key and he is having it shipped from Amazon. He sent me a message and he said his hometown is Southside but he now lives in Perdido Key. He donated $105 worth of dog food.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, scott Chambers. Thank you, we love you, scott.

Speaker 5:

Rachel Turner from Collins will donate $40 through PayPal to Second Chance and we will be giving her a T-shirt for that. So if you do that, send us a Facebook message so we can catch those, because once these shirts are gone, we can't order any more.

Speaker 4:

So roughly how many total people have donated so far? Because we have 75 of the tie-dye T-shirts, so the first 75 who donate get the tie-dye shirt 17. So we have about what 60, 50-something T-shirts of the tie-dye shirt 17 so we have about what 60 50 something t-shirts of the tie-dye left. Now, once the tie-dyes are gone, there's still other t-shirts and these are beautiful. You've seen the t-shirt traits.

Speaker 5:

These are gorgeous they're great colors absolutely super summery I mean they look just as good as the tie-dye I mean I know everybody wants the tie-dye.

Speaker 7:

They're really cool, but yeah, um, we've got some other really great colors.

Speaker 4:

We do. 30 pounds or more gets you a Wolfstock t-shirt.

Speaker 5:

Yes, People have asked us is it $30 or 30 pounds? Either one, either one. But we focus on pounds because that's what the dogs go for, because, think about it, if you get a 50-pound dog food, it may be like two ounces.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and pound dog food, it may be like two ounces yeah, and all this goes to second chance shelter and her buddy, doug, will be in the gig, will be joining us every monday morning in the month of june talking to us about second chance. If you want to adopt a dog, go by there. They can hook you up and you put up the dog of the day a few minutes ago, eleanor. Eleanor, the dog of the day yes, needs adopted.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, eleanor needs a home. So if you're looking for a six-year-old, a little bit older dog that goes outside, eleanor is a perfect fit for your family.

Speaker 4:

Yes, so sweet, that's sweet. What kind of dog is she?

Speaker 5:

Oh, she's a little mix, a little mix, a little puppy, but I put her picture up on her Facebook and we will be hoping that somebody adopts Eleanor, absolutely.

Speaker 4:

All right time is Friday. You know what that means senior birthday time, and we do this every Friday. Holly puts together five of her senior birthdays and you're part of our special WQSP, bgs and Albertville Birthday Club. Every Friday morning we salute our club members and then you'll digitally place their photo on special bottles of BG's original chicken dipping sauce, which they're now up on our Facebook page so you can see them, you can like them, you can share them to your Facebook and even have the pictures printed.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, you sure can so who are the five this week?

Speaker 5:

The five this week is Ms Janice James, 81, of Boaz, ms Becky Glass, 84, of Gadsden, miss Becky Glass, 84, of Gadsden, mildred Dunn, 84, of Albertville, herbert Rutledge, 94, of Albertville, and Miss Marie Smith, 88, of Crossville.

Speaker 4:

That's a great five right there, and be sure to send us your birthday photo If you're 70 years of age or older. Do this to our website, wqsbcom, and you can be in next week's birthday club. Sure can All right, 7.55.

Speaker 2:

Mornings with Barry and Holly here on Alabama's country giant WQSB.

Speaker 4:

QSB Cole Swindell singles, Saturday night 8.13, with Barry and Holly Rachel's in with us. We're about to taste some food in a moment, but first let's go back to our bet we made, which this is a bet. I don't mind losing at all.

Speaker 5:

I'm going to hope that you lose this bet.

Speaker 4:

I do too I hope I do lose. Oh uh-huh, this is a good bet to lose, because about six, you said, I bet we'll get at least a thousand pounds before nine o'clock a dog food yes, and I said I don't think so, but I hope we do. Yeah, and where are we at now?

Speaker 5:

we are at 931 oh 931 pounds of dog food. And this is the first day. This is day one. Yeah, day one. Baby, we are in it.

Speaker 4:

Now, usually we don't start until 8 because the doors open when Sabrina and Seth gets here. But we said, well, since we're already in the building, come on by at 6, and people want those tie-dye t-shirts.

Speaker 5:

And Ray Amberson was here at 5.30. Yeah, so he was the first one to get one, but we have to hit 1,000 by 9 o'clock and it's 8.15. I think we can do it.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 5:

Come on, Come on people.

Speaker 4:

Now who are some of the more recent people who stopped by.

Speaker 5:

Did I say Cecily stopped by? I don't know, I love that name, Cecily. Yeah, I do too, Cecily Mann through PayPal, which is absolutely acceptable. If you would like to donate through PayPal, you directly send it to Second Chance Animal Shelter and send us a screenshot of the transaction and we'll put your t-shirt to the side. So that was exciting. Annette Beck, Melissa Howard brought in 74 pounds of dog food. Chelsea Johnson from Albertville and Sharon Runyon from Atala. Thank you for driving up.

Speaker 4:

And they're all getting the tie-dye t-shirts because we have 75 of these. When they're 75, those are gone. You get the other t-shirts which to me. I'm with Rachel. I think those look to me as good as the tie-dye.

Speaker 5:

They do yeah.

Speaker 4:

Tie-dye may be the kind you want. That they do. Yeah, tie-dye may be the kind you want, that's fine, but if you wanted the regular ones, there's. What Dark blue, what other colors are there there's?

Speaker 5:

dark blue, light blue, cream, black colors.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, black.

Speaker 5:

Neutral colors, like basic colors.

Speaker 4:

And if you want to see what the t-shirts look like, go to our Facebook page. There's one of Holly and one of our first donors this morning holding up the tie-dye T-shirt. You can see what they look like this year. I think it's a great logo. Yeah, I think it looks great, it's so fun.

Speaker 5:

We talked about how it looks like Snoop Dogg in cartoon dog form. It does, but it's got that kind of retro vibe and it's got the peace signs and the music notes. And it's the tie-dye and we notes and it's the tie-dye and we are sending one. I've got one right here to send to our news guys scott chambers in pensacola, florida.

Speaker 4:

So if you're out of town, out of the state, let us know and we can get you a t-shirt. Now of the 75 tie-dye we're down to about what, 50 roughly yeah, about 50 left now we're not just doing it one day now.

Speaker 4:

we have the tie-dyes till they're gone, but we're going to be doing this donation, this dog food drive, until the end of June. So you've got plenty of time. And we have clubs who have put together fundraisers, like the Jeep Wrangler Club. I think they're going to bring their donation to buy in a couple of weeks and it's usually into the thousands of pounds.

Speaker 4:

We're shooting for as much as possible, because what it does it goes to Second Chance Shel, chance shelter and instead of them having to buy the dog food, which they have to buy everything through donations, it allows them to put their money towards something else, like repairs and second chance shelter. Like last year, I think they didn't have to buy any dog food till like september. That's amazing. So that means june, july, august and september. That's like three, four months that they could take that money and then use it to redo some of the kennels and do other things repair work.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, we usually have a really good turnout for wolf stock.

Speaker 4:

Sure do Last year over 15,000 pounds. I think we can easily beat that this year. Oh, we can beat that.

Speaker 5:

We're almost to 1,000, and we've got the whole entire month of June. Yeah, I think we can beat that for these pups and we're going to be doing dog of the day. We will. So our dog of the day today is eleanor. If you would like to see eleanor, she's on our facebook page to adopt a dog.

Speaker 4:

We highly recommend eleanor, we do. And now, moving on to something even even bigger, because we have food, we have ice cream we do.

Speaker 5:

We've never had ice cream on here before. We've had frosties, yeah, but we've never had ice cream from a punt this is one we had on there.

Speaker 4:

we talked about about two about two weeks ago, Yep. Now I can't see the brand. Is it Blue Bell?

Speaker 5:

I can't see the brand. Yeah, it's Blue Bell.

Speaker 4:

Blue Bell and it's A&W Root Beer Float Ice Cream, mm-hmm. So do you like root beer floats, rachel?

Speaker 3:

I love root beer floats. What about you, Holly?

Speaker 4:

I love root beer floats.

Speaker 5:

So this it's like a little dark color. I'll get you a scoop there. Oh, she got her a good little scoop. I love it. I know you got to get your scoop.

Speaker 4:

Now, these just have come out, haven't they my scoop's?

Speaker 3:

not bigger than yours, I know.

Speaker 4:

You women comparing scoop sizes again, again, are you? Ready.

Speaker 5:

I'm ready, all right, oh, oh, oh.

Speaker 4:

Man, that's just like a root beer float. Yeah, it is. That is a root beer float.

Speaker 7:

I'm surprised it has such a. It's not a strong root beer flavor, but it.

Speaker 4:

They even nailed it with that.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, where do you get this?

Speaker 4:

I think this was from Food City Okay.

Speaker 5:

I believe People are asking.

Speaker 4:

Pretty sure Food City had this one.

Speaker 5:

Food City and they have it in the big containers and then the little pint containers.

Speaker 4:

This is the pint container here. To me that's about enough for one sitting.

Speaker 5:

Oh well, you're over there eating it all right now.

Speaker 3:

Okay, sorry.

Speaker 4:

I'll give you some more, Since you're the root beer fan. I like root beer.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

And this is good ice cream. This is good. I'll give it for ice cream, 10 out of 10.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I don't want any more. What do you give it Rach? 10 out of 10.

Speaker 4:

10 out of 10 from Barry and Rachel. If you like root beer, you'll love this ice cream, so what about you?

Speaker 5:

Are you a root beer fan at all? I'm going to go with an. I know I like it, but I don't want another bite. I don't know. I like it. I like the root beer float. It tastes like a real root beer float.

Speaker 4:

It really does.

Speaker 5:

Like a real one. It's not one of those that's artificially flavored.

Speaker 7:

It does taste like A&W root beer too. Yes, it does. It doesn't taste like Barks Nope, it doesn't taste like Barks.

Speaker 5:

It tastes like A&W. You're right, it's real distinct, highly recommend it. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Thanks, Rachel. Thank you 819 Country News is next Barry and Holly on Alabama's Country, Giant WQSB. Wqsb Carly Pierce and Chris Tableton. We don't fight anymore. It's 826, barry and Holly, and Greg Anthony's on the phone with us. I tell you, greg, anthony, over the years you've gone above and beyond helping us out in so many different ways. Greg, with North Country Ford. You do an awesome job there and you made a phone call. You're on the phone with us now. First of all, how are you doing, greg? You doing all right.

Speaker 3:

Barry, I can't complain. It's a beautiful day and the weather is beautiful and we're blessed to be here, so I'm doing good, Thank you.

Speaker 4:

Well, I know you've got a big sale going on this weekend, right?

Speaker 3:

We do. We're in the middle of our tent sale. It ends tomorrow, so I think you guys are going to be there. I'm not sure, but that's what I thought you guys are going to be there for this sale. So it's been great and the community has been really, really good and we had a great turnout for this tent sale and that's why I'm fixing to do what I'm fixing to do on the air with you guys.

Speaker 4:

Well, you do a great job. I was at North Country Forward back I guess about a year ago. Love what you guys do and you've always helped us out with any kind of charity we have going on. And you say you want to help us out with the Wolfstock dog food promotion Is that?

Speaker 3:

right? Yeah, let me tell you what I want to do, barry, I'm going to challenge the Mark Breachys, the John Connor, the Randy Balls, the Bobby Levitt. We're going to challenge everybody that's got car dealerships. Look, let's give back to the community. Listen, these dogs I know they need help. But the people that's running this it's great that they're doing what they do. And if we buy this dog food, then they can use money for the medical bills for these dogs and rebuilding kennels and help getting them adopted and getting advertising out there. But look, I'm going to do a thousand pounds from north. Uh, so I'm going to do a thousand pounds. I'll jump online and order and have it delivered straight to them and look, let's let every dealership do that right now. Y'all said y'all needed a thousand pounds and when I got on, got home, holly said no, I need 2,000 pounds. I did.

Speaker 5:

I said we needed 2,000 pounds. Barry said there's no way we can do it before nine. Surely we can't do it before nine.

Speaker 3:

We did it, holly. If there's a will, there's a way. If there's a will, there's a way. Right, oh great.

Speaker 5:

You did it the challenge.

Speaker 3:

So you are calling out mark brickie and who else? John connor, john connor, john connor, let's get randy ball, bobby ledbetter, let's get all these guys, let's get all these guys to help. But here's another thing I'm going to do. Okay, the company is going to donate a thousand pounds. We have a sales meeting this morning at 8 45. I'm going to find out exactly how much it is and I'm going to ask my sales people to do any up and let's get another thousand pounds and that way. So the company's going to a thousand, but I'm going to challenge my sales people to kick in and do a thousand pounds. But let's get every dealership around it. Listen, if, every dealership. But you don't even have to be a car dealership. Listen, let's let all of the businesses around, just any up and buy some, and let's be done with this thing. Let's go to A whole entire year.

Speaker 4:

There you go, let's do it, let's do it. Oh man, greg, that is awesome. We really appreciate what you've done and thank you so much.

Speaker 3:

You're very welcome. You're very welcome, I've got chills.

Speaker 5:

Thank you, Greg.

Speaker 3:

Well, you're welcome. I know you just had a root beer float, so put a jacket on.

Speaker 5:

You also bought my lunch too.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I got to buy her lunch. There you go, that is okay. So go by this weekend to North Country Fort and shake Greg's hand in person. Say thank you for what you've done for helping those dogs at Second Chance Shelter. Greg, we really appreciate you.

Speaker 3:

Well, you're welcome, barry and Holly, and listen, appreciate everything you guys do, and we're always here to help the community Anytime you need us, let us know.

Speaker 4:

Sounds good. All right, thanks, greg. It's 831. Wqsb.

Speaker 2:

Mornings with Barry and Holly.

Speaker 5:

I'm about to cry. Yeah, I feel emotional.

Speaker 4:

I mean between Greg Anthony's phone call a few minutes ago and what?

Speaker 5:

just happened, the guests that we have like, right here waiting to speak, to have walked in I noticed we were talking.

Speaker 4:

I was talking to Greg and I kept seeing dog food come in bag after bag after bag. I thought, oh my goodness.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, you said who's out there. I said it's the Lotberry.

Speaker 4:

And now we're going to find out. So what's your?

Speaker 7:

name my name's Tammy.

Speaker 4:

You're close, Tammy.

Speaker 7:

My name's Tammy.

Speaker 4:

Who's with you, Tammy?

Speaker 7:

My sister Veronica.

Speaker 4:

Come over Veronica. Hi where are y'all from?

Speaker 5:

We are from Cleveland, alabama, so y'all made a little drop this morning.

Speaker 7:

But we're here for the June Jam. We came from Fort Payne because we're here for the June Jam Awesome.

Speaker 4:

So you brought some dog food when you came in this morning. Yes, well, thank you so much. So do you have dogs?

Speaker 7:

I have one dog and seven cats, seven cats.

Speaker 4:

Poor dog.

Speaker 7:

We kept having babies and we had to keep some, even one out of every three.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, you got to keep one. So you guys drove all the way up from Cleveland. You're going to Fort Payne, to June Jam. Who are you most excited to see at June Jam? Old Dominion.

Speaker 7:

I'm excited to see John Barry. That tells my age.

Speaker 4:

Love John Barry. Well, it's going to be a great day tomorrow. Do you have one ticket from QSB?

Speaker 7:

No, no, we actually bought them, but we tried.

Speaker 4:

You tried, we tried to win.

Speaker 7:

We gave them. I said I don't know what we'll do with them, but we're going to try to win.

Speaker 4:

How do you like your Wolfstock t-shirt? Oh yeah, I thought it was.

Speaker 7:

Willie, that's true.

Speaker 3:

So we're going to tell everybody that's Willie.

Speaker 5:

Willie.

Speaker 4:

That's fine. Well, thank you all. So much for the donation, thank you all, and we enjoy listening to you all, we've been listening since 1993.

Speaker 7:

Since 93.

Speaker 4:

Well, thank you all, and Barry, we have another visitor here we do so make your way over to the microphone.

Speaker 5:

Yes, this is Ms Rose, and let me tell you, ms Rose is from Albertville. Ms Rose just brought in four 80-pound bags of dog food, bringing our total up to 2,381 pounds of dog food this morning.

Speaker 4:

In less than three hours In less than three hours. You didn't load that all by yourself, did you Rose?

Speaker 7:

Oh no, I can't do that. I had some young man at Walmart do it for me.

Speaker 4:

Well, thank you. So what makes you want to donate to a great cause like this?

Speaker 7:

Well, I love Wanda and Doug and they do such a great job helping the dogs in our counties and I've got two dogs that I rescued from out there and I love them to death and wanda and doug do such a fantastic job and when I can, I like to splurge on the dogs, yeah, you know. So I went and got 480 pounds, which was 12 large bags, you know, of dog food, because I appreciate them so much.

Speaker 7:

We do too yeah, I mean, they are super great people and their staff is really really super nice and I just love them to pieces.

Speaker 4:

Yeah we love what they do. That's why we got behind them a couple of years ago and started this and all this dog food you're seeing out there. We'll go to second chance and save them from having to buy dog food for, hopefully, many, many months.

Speaker 7:

Exactly because a lot of times they have several hundred dogs out there they have over 200. They have to have help feeding these dogs and I love animals and I'd do anything in the world for them if I've got the means to do it with. Absolutely, and right now I have the means to do it. Well, and right now I have the means to do it Absolutely and I'm blessed by doing it. Yeah, I thank God that I can bless somebody else. Yes, amen.

Speaker 4:

You've done a great thing today. Thank you so much.

Speaker 7:

You are so welcome and I really appreciate it.

Speaker 4:

Love the T-shirt.

Speaker 7:

Enjoy that T-shirt, love it I saw it on Facebook last night and I called Wanda and I said, wanda, what's going on? And she told me and I said I got to do it early in the morning. Yep, get up and get it done before it gets too hot.

Speaker 4:

Well, thank you so much for dropping by this morning.

Speaker 7:

Love y'all.

Speaker 4:

Love to listen to y' 2,381 pounds.

Speaker 5:

Wow, that's a lot of dog food. It's been a great morning. It's been a great morning.

Speaker 4:

Now people are wondering about how many tie-dye shirts are left. We had 75 to begin with. Now, even though she brought in that amount of dog food, she still gets the one One shirt, the one, 30 pounds or more, gets you a tie-dye t-shirt, but you can get the other kind, which is just as pretty, I think the dark blue one is my favorite.

Speaker 5:

We had some people that preferred those. They didn't want the tie-dye yeah.

Speaker 4:

So there's still about what 40, roughly 40, 35 to 40 tie-dye shirts left.

Speaker 5:

Yep, and it's almost 9 o'clock, people are still coming in.

Speaker 4:

So I got lunch today. Today, yes, you get a free lunch, and you know what I'm so happy. We passed that two.

Speaker 5:

I am, too I'm glad to buy you lunch whenever we the bet was if we had 1 000 pounds before nine, I'd buy your lunch. We've hit almost over 3 000, yeah, pounds. Yeah, and here's the thing last year this is numbers that I heard, so tell me if I'm wrong. Okay, last year I heard that we donated 15 000 right around 15 000 you, you are correct. I heard the year before.

Speaker 4:

It was a little bit higher, about 25 to 30.

Speaker 5:

About 25 to 30.

Speaker 4:

Way to drop.

Speaker 5:

I think well, we hit a pandemic.

Speaker 4:

And the economy was tough.

Speaker 5:

The economy, yeah, but hey, $30 is going to give you a lifetime of happiness That'll buy 30 pounds of dog food roughly, yeah, and you're donating to a good cause. This is such a good cause.

Speaker 4:

It's fantastic. Well, thank you again. Thanks, Barry. All right, if you want to donate, bring it by Open until 5 o'clock and then Monday through Friday. We're doing it all the way through the month of June, so you've got like another month, so you don't have to do it today. 843.

Speaker 2:

Mornings with Barry and Holly here on Alabama's Country Giant WQSB.

Speaker 1:

WQSB. We're Alabama's Country Giant. There's Tim McGraw and his latest. That is One Bad Habit. It is now 8.50. Mike sitting in. Just one more time for Barry.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, just a little bit. So, finishing one show, about to start another, I know he's got that therapy stuff that they say he has to do. Who knows?

Speaker 1:

They're going to teach him how to make the peace sign with one hand.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, that's the myth for today. He don't have to use both hands anymore.

Speaker 1:

Bless him. A lot of stuff going on around here this morning.

Speaker 5:

Mike, it's been crazy. It's been crazy. I beat Barry in a bet and I get my lunch bought for me. I said that we could hit 1,000. We've hit over 2,000 pounds of dog food.

Speaker 1:

Free lunch and radio. It's a thing.

Speaker 5:

It's a thing, it is, it's a thing.

Speaker 1:

So do we know what the total is right now?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, we're over 2,100 pounds of dog food. Wow, 2,000. I mean dang, that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

I think we got like 30 pounds dropped off yesterday. Somebody couldn't wait.

Speaker 5:

Yep, they got people coming through the door right now.

Speaker 1:

Alright, well, let's get on with it then, so we can help people get this stuff in here. Quote of the day. Ready to go?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so here's a quote of the day, and I love this one. Tell me what you think, mike. It says a bird is safe in its nest, but that's not what its wings are made for. Ooh.

Speaker 1:

I like that. That's almost as good as the one. A bird will fall dead from a branch having never felt sorry for itself. Oh yeah, that's some good stuff too.

Speaker 5:

That's good, good stuff.

Speaker 1:

Overloaded with good stuff on a Friday, yeah we are. All right, folks keep it here. More great music's on the way. My show will begin here in just a few more minutes. Got Few, more minutes. Got great music on the way for you. Stand by for Stuff From Got Dylan, scott George Burge and Tiger Lily Gold right after this.
