Have you ever wondered what elements make a movie a timeless classic? Join Barry and Holli for a spirited morning as we jump-start our day with a celebration of iconic films. Holli recounts her spine-chilling experience watching "The Crow" and its haunting connections to Brandon Lee's tragic story, while we also reflect on Heath Ledger drawing inspiration from Lee for his unforgettable Joker performance. In between our cinematic explorations, we spotlight the heartwarming success of our Wolfstock dog food drive, with a whopping 5,600 pounds collected, encouraging our community to keep up the generous contributions throughout June.

From the laughs of "Caddyshack" to the tears of "The Notebook," we reminisce about the movies that left indelible marks on our hearts. Personal favorites like "Titanic" and "Gone with the Wind" create a vivid tapestry of memories, while listener picks like "Pretty Woman" and "Grease" add layers to our discussion of what truly defines a classic. We can’t help but share our excitement for the remake of "The Crow" and swap some funny stories, including Scott Chambers' gym routine that’s straight out of "Rocky." Plus, we toast to Dr Pepper’s impressive rise in popularity, now second only to Coca-Cola, and eagerly anticipate Taylor Swift’s leading nominations at the Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards.

But it's not all about movies and pop culture; we bring you quirky and fascinating stories from the news, including a bizarre crime spree in Florida and a study on bird poop preferences that’s sure to make you chuckle. We round off with a heartfelt tribute to our seniors and the unsung heroes—geriatric nurses—who care for them with unwavering dedication. Tune in for a fun-filled episode packed with nostalgia, laughter, and thought-provoking moments that promise to brighten your day.

Speaker 5:

Patty, what's this about?

Speaker 4:

So, without further ado, Power of love is a curious thing. I absolutely love the show Broadcasting live from high atop Alabama's beautiful Sand Mountain. Please welcome your hosts, Barry, Put that cookie down Now now. I dropped my phone in the toilet why didn't I flush when I? Got in here, god, it's like talking to a three-year-old wow, the man is a real deal you need to listen to and holly where's the mashed potatoes?

Speaker 2:

where's the cranberry sauce? Where's the pumpkin pie? Not another word or I shall have to summon a policeman. Is that clear? We don't need money.

Speaker 1:

Don't take fame. Good morning, it's 6.09. The man's a real deal.

Speaker 5:

You heard him say it, I heard him say it, you got it quoted right there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, hold on one second, here comes a good point. Okay, here we go, just save your life.

Speaker 4:

That's the power of love.

Speaker 1:

This makes me think of Back to the Future.

Speaker 5:

I'm dancing.

Speaker 1:

Love. You finally saw Back to the Future a few months ago.

Speaker 5:

I know I got to see it. I think that I have wasted my whole life not watching Back to the Future.

Speaker 1:

You need to see Part 2 and 3 now. It's just a great series.

Speaker 5:

You know what I watched yesterday that you recommended. What's that? The Crow?

Speaker 1:

Oh, the original. Yeah, the original With Brandon Lee.

Speaker 5:

Well, yeah, you told me that Bill Skarsgård is coming out with a new one and I'm so excited because the trailer looked great. But you said but you got to watch the old one.

Speaker 1:

You need to watch the original.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so I watched it yesterday.

Speaker 1:

There's so much creepy history around that movie where Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son, was killed while filming the movie.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so what happened? Real quick.

Speaker 1:

There was a scene like the very beginning of it, when the bad guys are in the apartment and they put a gun up to Brandon Lee's head. It was just a fake prop gun and in those days it's about 20 years ago they used what's called blanks and they're like a wad of paper and stuff that makes smoke come out a little bit bit and they put one in there and, for whatever reason, it was harder than it was supposed to be.

Speaker 1:

When it came out it hit him in the exact right spot in the head and killed him that's wasn't a real bullet just a blank, but it was strong enough and big enough that it hit him in the right spot and killed him, that's crazy and it is and it made the movie so much more intriguing, though, to know that he was not alive during the release.

Speaker 1:

They almost didn't release it. They decided the family wanted what was mine and said, yes, he worked so hard on this, we've got to release it. All right, I'm going to put up a post on Facebook One more thing you read something you told me about a few minutes ago that Heath Ledger in the Batman movie when he played Joker, heath Ledger in the Batman movie.

Speaker 5:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

When he played Joker, because I was telling you that the makeup in the Crow looks so much like the Joker's makeup in Batman and you found something that said that he pretty much copied Brandon Lee.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so I texted you because I'd read an article where and this was years ago when Heath Ledger was battling his addictions and stuff- yeah and I read an article where heath ledger studied brandon lee's um character in the crow yeah, to be like him and the makeup's kind of the same. The mannerisms are the same, the same creepy little. Yeah, smiles and tears. But um, I put up a post what's your favorite classic movie would? Would you consider that a classic movie? It?

Speaker 1:

is. It's a classic. Especially around Halloween, people watch the original Crone.

Speaker 5:

It's a cult classic, it is yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's just a well I would say cheaply made. But it's just a fix in that movie compared to today.

Speaker 5:

It was kind of cheaply made.

Speaker 1:

It was, but back in those days it was good and I would say it's like a cult classic.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, and you're saying you can't wait to see what the new one? The new one, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because Bill Skarsgård, who plays Pennywise the Clown in it, is the Eric Draven in the new one.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, when you told me that I looked up the trailer on YouTube.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's violent.

Speaker 5:

Oh, it is Viewer. Discretion advised.

Speaker 1:

Don't let the kids watch the trailer.

Speaker 5:

No, they pop a guy on the head and show it.

Speaker 1:

Oh man, it comes out in August, by the way. Yeah, so it's the new the Crow.

Speaker 5:

But blow the whole head off.

Speaker 1:

It's pretty violent, I know, but anyway. Anyway, on to happy stuff. Yeah, okay, dog food. We're up to almost 5,600 pounds. We collected another about 500 pounds roughly yesterday. So thank you to the listeners coming through their Wolfstock dog food promotion. So here we are, almost 5,600, and we're only up to Wednesday. We're doing this the entire month of June, so feel free to drop off at least 30 pounds. You can drop off any amount you want to, but to get a T-shirt 30 pounds or more and get you a free Wolfstock T-shirt with a beautiful Wolfstock design designed by Dixie Designs. And we still have I'm not sure if there's any tie-dyes left, but we have a dark blue, light blue black, and you said there's a cream color or two.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, there's a cream color or two. Is there a purple? Yeah, there's a purple, Light blue, dark blue, purple and cream, Because Dixie Designs has assured us that we will have shirts for everybody. They'll keep making them. So they will keep making them. So all you have to do is bring us your dog food 30 pounds or more, Purina or better.

Speaker 1:

And you're going to go over some names and thanking some people in a few minutes. We've got to thank Tiffany Graves. Tiffany is our listener of the day. Dun-da-da-da Way to go, tiffany. Tiffany commented on something yesterday and you have been chosen as the QSP Listener of the Day. We're going to give you a Mary and Holly Morning Show t-shirt.

Speaker 1:

All the listeners of the day this week will be qualified to win a family pack of four tickets to the Tennessee Aquarium, to the IMAX Theater and the Creative Discovery Museum. We'll give those away Friday and we have more to give away to the aquarium about 7.45 this morning.

Speaker 5:

Yes, we do. We've been teasing this on when we'll be doing it. Today is the day.

Speaker 1:

Yep around 7.45. We'll play a little game giving you a chance to win tickets to the Tennessee Aquarium. How'd you know? Things going on June 5th Wednesday Things you need to know, need to think about today. What's going on today?

Speaker 5:

This one could get weird it's National Doll Day.

Speaker 1:

Doll Day.

Speaker 5:

Like a Barbie doll, those kind of dolls, like a Barbie doll, barbie doll is the most popular doll in America, but today also brings up the question is the GI Joe a doll or an action figure?

Speaker 1:

I say action figure.

Speaker 5:

I say action figure.

Speaker 1:

Now many people still say that men like to say it's an action figure because they don't want to call it a doll.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But many people say it is a doll.

Speaker 5:

It's not a doll, though, because you don't take care of it. You just play with them. You just put it up there. I don't know. Yeah, you do. It's not a doll to me.

Speaker 1:

No, that would be something good to put up on Facebook because of your opinion. Yeah, that is a good one. Is it a doll or is it an action figure? It's an action figure, you agree.

Speaker 5:

Okay to know, flavor Flav is backing Red Lobster's revival after it filed for bankruptcy.

Speaker 1:

Oh good, He'll save the day, Thank you.

Speaker 5:

Flavor Flav. He shared a photo of his big feast on social media, saying he ordered the whole menu and plans to engage in talks with the chain for potential collaboration.

Speaker 1:

Flavor Flav is teaming up with Red Lobster. That's weird, flavor Flav.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, personally, I think Red Lobster should name a dish after him.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, which one?

Speaker 5:

It would be called the Flavor Flav Flounder. That's pretty good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Flavor, Flav, Flounder. Comes with a little tiny like clock around his neck.

Speaker 5:

A little tiny clock yeah, one gold tooth, one gold tooth on the blender.

Speaker 1:

That would be cool.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, and here's something to think about. You know you're getting older when you run into your friends at the pharmacy instead of at the club.

Speaker 1:

Yep, yep, things have changed. That's good. It's 6 16.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I'm going to sing it. Oh no, Every night, in my dreams I see you, I feel you. That is how I know you. Go on. Okay, that's enough. You could have done that without all the sound effects.

Speaker 1:

Well, the crowd was getting a little restless. So what other movies would you say are some of your favorites?

Speaker 5:

Legends of the Fall. Okay, I haven't seen that one oh my gosh, you have to see it. Tombstone I love Tombstone. Tombstone's one of my classics. There's like two versions of it.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

Judy Dobbs says Pretty Woman, love it, love Pretty Woman. Dana Burgess says Grease.

Speaker 5:

Oh, that's a good one.

Speaker 1:

Ken Miller says Sergeant York. I don't think I've seen that one. Stephanie Bladlock says Sometime to Talk About. Maybe she means something I don't know With Julia Roberts.

Speaker 5:

We don't know because they never say in the movie.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

You may be right.

Speaker 5:

I think they do.

Speaker 1:

I don't remember.

Speaker 5:

I could be wrong Somebody send me a Facebook message and let me know how the ending of they curl up and did what?

Speaker 1:

Yes, I think so. What Duh Okay.

Speaker 5:

That's dying on the radio.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

I don't think so. Time to go to sleep now? I wouldn't think so. I don't know, but I wouldn't think so. Anyway, that's a good movie though.

Speaker 5:

That is a good movie. Yeah, Don't let me discredit the movie.

Speaker 1:

No, I love the movie. I'm just confused about the dying part. But it's so sad how they go bleh so easy. I don't think they went that like that, though no, they did not 644.

Speaker 4:

WQSB Mornings with Barry and.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, we just ask a question. Yeah, we forgot how it ended.

Speaker 5:

But people are very passionate about this, so I got some messages. Karen Hopper she says they died together because they loved each other so much that their hearts were in sync.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 5:

And I said, oh my gosh. And she said to have a love like that would be amazing. Yes, amber McAbee, she was the one that said they died at the end. And then Vicki Wilson says their love took them together. So I guess, can you love somebody that much? I guess, so Did you die with them?

Speaker 1:

Well, they did. I know it's a movie, yeah, but we were asking what's your favorite classic movie? And, like Heather Wilson here on our Facebook, says Twister.

Speaker 5:

Oh, that's a good one, and I can't wait to see the new one.

Speaker 1:

Twisters comes out in just a few weeks. That's going to be good. Karen Hopper also says oh Yeller or the Red Fern Grows, yep, those are both good. Our newsman Scott Chambers goes with Rocky. I agree, word has it. When Scott goes to the gym he plays this when he walks in the door.

Speaker 5:

No, the gym plays this for him.

Speaker 2:

They're like here comes Scott.

Speaker 5:

Chambers.

Speaker 2:

He runs up the three stairs.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, he does, puts his arms over his head.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and they said, sir, you've got to sign in, but I'm Scott Chambers, I don't have to sign in.

Speaker 5:

And they'll say we'll sign you in for you.

Speaker 1:

Go ahead, scott here, get on that treadmaster. Yeah, the treadmaster.

Speaker 5:

The stairmaster, whatever it is, the old chair, what the treadmill? The treadmaster?

Speaker 1:

What is that.

Speaker 5:

Just pretend that's a. Thing. Just pretend like you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do.

Speaker 5:

The treadmill stairmaster.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I've got to work out today and do the old treadmaster. I'm going to work on the leg. It's leg day today. Work on the old treadmaster.

Speaker 5:

Can't wait to get up in the morning and get on the treadmaster.

Speaker 1:

All right Time for Holly's pile of stories. By the way, you can still give us your favorite classic movie and we'll read some more of those coming up in a minute. But how about the big story with Dr Pepper? This is huge.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, this is like history-breaking. Dr Pepper has officially passed Pepsi as the second most popular soda in the US, behind Coca-Cola. So Dr Pepper now holds 8.3% of the soda market. So it used to be Coke or.

Speaker 1:

Pepsi Always One, two, One, two Right For years Since the 80s. But now Dr Pepper has done such an amazing job of branding and the fact that if you watch college football they're all over all of the college football championship games. They have great commercials. Personally, I like all three, but Dr Pepper is my favorite of all the drinks.

Speaker 5:

I know more people that like Dr Pepper than any other drink.

Speaker 1:

I agree.

Speaker 5:

And at Jefferson's, if it wasn't sweet tea, it was Dr Pepper.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely Yep, so I can see it now. So now it's officially number two. That's huge, that is that's huge, that's amazing.

Speaker 5:

So, like I said, it used to be Coke and Pepsi, now it's Coke and Dr Pepper. There you go. Well, taylor Swift leads the nominations for the 2024 Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 5:

That was a good movie.

Speaker 1:

Good movie about his life. Good movie.

Speaker 5:

The children's series will soon start streaming 24-7 for free on the free streaming platform Pluto Soon. There will be a 24-7 channel dedicated to Mr Rogers' Neighborhood so fans can continuously watch the series.

Speaker 1:

I think kids today would also still enjoy watching it.

Speaker 5:

Oh yeah, I think my kids would love it.

Speaker 1:

I think they would like it. All right. 6.54. Birthdays are next.

Speaker 4:

Mornings with Barry and Hall here on Alabama's country giant WQSB. I want to stay with my friends Say you'd be brave.

Speaker 1:

Because a lot of these quotes are for people who maybe they're having a bad day, they're having a tough time. Something might pick you up. Be brave, get out there and take a step, do something, yeah, and maybe change your life or somebody's life. So what is the quote of the day today?

Speaker 5:

I love this one. It says Caring for seniors is perhaps the greatest responsibility we have. Those who walk before us have given so much and made possible the life we all enjoy.

Speaker 1:

That is so good.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. So my mom was a nursing home nurse for 40 years and I have watched her come home and say I had to hold somebody's hand while they died tonight with no family.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 5:

And it takes a special person to be a geriatric nurse it?

Speaker 1:

does it really? Does they have a special heart? Uh, they have a. It's hard to explain, but yeah, I've had to visit nursing homes. My other was in there for a while and it's tough and to know that you work there it's. They're very. Those who work there love what you do. People don't give them enough. Thank yous.

Speaker 5:

Well, my mom teaches a CNA class and I took her class and she said these seniors that we have in this nursing home at one time did their laundry, canned their food, went to work, took care of their children, and now here they are, completely helpless. They've got to have help and we're the ones to do it.

Speaker 1:

So just like the quote of the day. Yeah, it's a perfect quote. Just for that Perfect Good stuff, it's 715.

Speaker 1:

We'll talk about our Wolfstock dog food. Oh, go ahead and tell him it's up to 5,557 pounds. Had another big day yesterday.

Speaker 5:

Yes, and we need your help. We are looking. Our goal is how many a day?

Speaker 1:

If we can hit about 500 to 600 pounds a day.

Speaker 5:

A day. That's our goal.

Speaker 1:

I think we can hit our ultimate goal, which is, by the end of June, about 22,000 pounds.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, we can do it, I think so. We hit 2,000 before 9 o'clock last Friday Sure did I think we can rally together. We still got people coming to see us and orders coming in.

Speaker 1:

You can still have it shipped to us, like Chewycom or Walmart or Amazon. Have it shipped to us and if you have it shipped, they just take a picture of the receipt and send it to us and then we can mail you your T-shirt. If it's 30 pounds or more, is that the best way?

Speaker 5:

Screenshot your order and send it to me, you don't have to take a picture of her. There's not a digital receipt.

Speaker 1:

Well, we need to know that you've actually ordered it.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, just screenshot your order.

Speaker 1:

Or if you want to take a two-second chance shelter, and you can do that and just let Doug know which you will and then they can let us know, and then we'll get you the t-shirt some way or the other. Just put the list up there, yeah, and then we'll get you the t-shirt some way or the other. Yeah, so 30 pounds or more gets you a beautiful Woodstock t-shirt. Who were some of the ones that dropped off dog food recently?

Speaker 5:

So we have had some from Steve and Rhonda Allen, misty Turner, angela Ward and Darlene Ward, david and Michelle Creel, casey Abbott, kim Cobb, jeannie Turner, dorothy Hyde and Miss Jana Gray. These are all from yesterday.

Speaker 1:

Thank you all so much Again. 5,557 pounds.

Speaker 4:

Get in my belly, come on, it's raining, tacos.

Speaker 1:

Raining tacos? How about raining goldfish? I love the goldfish crackers. I think who invented these Great idea? Because kids love them. They're good, a good snack. They're a good snack. They're about the right size. And how about the new flavor Spicy dill, pickle flavored goldfish crackers.

Speaker 5:

Oh, we gotta try those, we gotta find them.

Speaker 1:

I love the dill pickle flavored potato chips. I think these will be delicious. It says they're gonna be coming out a limited time rolling out to stores soon, so hopefully in the next few days you'll have the Goldfish Spicy Dill Pickle Crackers in stores.

Speaker 5:

That'd be so good. Well, Hans is bringing back Black Garlic Ranch and Harissa Aioli Sauces to Target and Walmart. I don't know what that is either.

Speaker 1:

What is Harissa I?

Speaker 5:

don't know. The Black Garlic Ranch is going to feature a unique and smooth experience combining the mellow, deep flavor of black garlic and the creaminess of ranch.

Speaker 1:

I love garlic. Okay, I think this will be good, good dipping sauce.

Speaker 5:

And then the other one. The harissa aioli is a smoky roasted red pepper blend with heat and globally inspired flair. I don't know what that means.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. So if it's from Heinz, it's probably going to be pretty good.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, it's going to be good.

Speaker 1:

We'll try that, yep.

Speaker 5:

And then Sonic Dave views new groovy fries and groovy fries sauce nationwide. I want to try these. Yep, they feature a crispy golden exterior that locks in the heat and offers a texture that's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. So it combines savory flavors of creamy ranch and herbs with the mild spice of sriracha.

Speaker 1:

That's the sauce. Looking at the picture, you have the sauce. They look good. I'd like to try some of those.

Speaker 5:

Well, I love ranch. And so for their groovy sauce to be ranch and herbs with a spice of sriracha. Ooh, I can't even try it.

Speaker 1:

It's basically crinkle fries. Yeah, it is, it is. They have little grooves, so they're calling them groovy fries.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I don't know why they're doing that. I don't know, it's just crinkle fries.

Speaker 1:

It looks good though.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, check it out on the Facebook page.

Speaker 1:

It's 727. Wqsb Morning 736, barry and Holly. Good morning, cloudy. It looks like it's about to rain any minute now, but there's not much rain out there.

Speaker 5:

I saw that you had me muted for a second.

Speaker 1:

Well, I had to fix it. Well, I'm dealing with one hand here and I want to clarify what Marbury said Keep going to rehab.

Speaker 5:

We need to have a discussion. Stan Winthrop came in, yeah, and he was listening out.

Speaker 2:

We're going to have him on in a minute.

Speaker 5:

He's playing Beast in Beauty and the Beast it's going to be so good, but we had him on or had him in and he said, barry, rehab what? And so we feel the need to clarify it's physical therapy Mark.

Speaker 1:

Rookie Therapy. Yes, yeah but that's a Rookie for you. I love Mark Rookie, but if you missed a conversation, yeah, yeah, he just ended the conversation with hey there. Keep going to rehab. I am going to rehab, I'm going to therapy. It's physical therapy for my left arm that I had reconstruction surgery basically and then the other new nothing. Six million dollar man, seventy five dollar man. Basically that's what I paid for this little sling thing I'm wearing. But I know, but anyway, yes, it's that rehab, I'm going to that kind of rehab yeah.

Speaker 1:

But anyway, back to the rain. There is some rain scattered around today. Not going to rain a lot, but later tonight there is a better chance of rain. Just keep in mind you could see some fairly strong storms later on tonight. Come on, man Well come on, man.

Speaker 4:

Here's the topic.

Speaker 1:

Rain could Well come on, man. Here's the topic rain could help out your car if you've got bird poop on it. There's a study. There's been a study and a survey done and they've released the total saying that I've always wondered this what car color do more birds poop on than any other color? Would you have guessed red? No, I would have guessed white because I've had a white vehicle. I would have guessed white because I've had a white vehicle. It's like every time you get her washed, I think they go eat those berries that are purple.

Speaker 5:

Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you're talking about. I honestly believe that birds the purple berry poop? Yes, yes, it's the purple berry poop.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Yes, I know what you're talking about. I think birds play a game.

Speaker 1:

I think they, honestly, they get points. I think they honestly, they get points.

Speaker 5:

I think they have like a game, a tally, and just keep up with it.

Speaker 1:

It's like March Madness or something for birds, but it's for all year. Yeah, Because some of the weirdest things are that I had like a car, of all the places in the world for them to poop. Why on top of a car.

Speaker 5:

I don't know. And why is it always on the windshield when you're driving down the interstate?

Speaker 1:

Yes, why does that happen? It's usually at the spot of the windshield where the wipers don't quite reach it.

Speaker 5:

Yes, or it does it right in front of your line of field of vision.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 5:

And you've got to smear it with the windshield wiper fluid. Come on birds.

Speaker 1:

Come on man, come on birds. But they did a study. Seriously, red is the most popular car color that has bird poop on it 18%. They broke it down it's red and then blue, and then black, then white, gray or silver and then green.

Speaker 5:

I'm sorry, but no, gray is way on up there.

Speaker 1:

Because yours is that kind of color.

Speaker 5:

Yours is gray.

Speaker 1:

It is Mine's gray. I've got some on the side window. How it hit that, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. Yeah, that's talent.

Speaker 5:

And it slid down. I have found that every time I wash my car I either get bird poop or it rains. So I think if I just stop washing my car I'll save everybody the hassle of bird poop and rain.

Speaker 1:

I think birds know when you've washed your car. They can, they do. This is shiny.

Speaker 5:

Let me let this go.

Speaker 1:

Do you think I'm wrong? Do birds have a contest?

Speaker 5:

No, I think you're right. I think they keep a tally of it.

Speaker 1:

I think they get extra points if you have a sunroof or a convertible or a Jeep with the tops out. They also get extra points if you have a bald-headed man with the tops off Extra points because it's splat man.

Speaker 5:

I got pelted one time. Yeah yeah, I was wearing like one of those puffer jackets and it made like a noise, like a Really it went like. That's how it went on my puffer jacket.

Speaker 1:

You're really into sound effects today.

Speaker 5:

Well, I just you know.

Speaker 1:

Disney called called hey Holly. We need sound for bird pooping in the new Moana movie. It's perfect. I'm worried for Stan Witherell. Stan's coming in a minute. If he's got a convertible, I think birds see him. They're saying get him, he's playing beast.

Speaker 5:

Oh yeah, I think you're right. I think they have target practice.

Speaker 1:

I do. It's a game. It is, and we're the victims of it, might as well, because women, we in return, we eat a lot of them Eat birds.

Speaker 5:

This is true. I will say 3% for gray is low, though I agree, I think that's a little low.

Speaker 1:

It should be young. But red is the number one color that birds look for Mornings with Barry and Holly here on Alabama's country giant WQSB. Rachel has returned to the room. Good morning, Rachel, Hello.

Speaker 5:

Rachel Hello.

Speaker 1:

Good morning. Welcome back, Rachel. I like it when she comes because she's in charge of payday.

Speaker 5:

She is oh it is payday. Oh, today, today Praise the. Lord.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh, okay.

Speaker 5:

So, rachel, we had a discussion this morning real quick. What's your favorite classic movie, 25 years or older? Oh, wow, yeah, yeah, dang, we got Steel, magnolias, titanic, varsity Blues, tombstone.

Speaker 1:

A lot of the Gone with the Winds and Wizard of Oz. Mm-hmm. I said Caddy, dirty Dancing Grease is on there. Caddy Shack was mine. I love Caddyshack.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, gosh, a lot of them have been named off. If you're going to sit down and watch one on a rainy, stormy day with a bowl of popcorn and a fire going, Older movie With a big fuzzy blanket You've seen before. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what would you pick?

Speaker 5:

I don't know. The one listener said steel magnolias, and I love steel it's so, sad though it is man. It is sad. It is such a sad, but so good, it's a classic, it's so good yeah, all right.

Speaker 1:

Knowledge nuggets are you ready? I'm ready. Things you need to know, whether you know it or not. What have you got got for us today?

Speaker 5:

According to a recent survey, almost half of all women leave a store's fitting room mad, oh Angry. What percent? Almost half.

Speaker 1:

Wow, Is that because whatever they tried on did not fit yeah?

Speaker 5:

it didn't fit.

Speaker 1:

Or they got in there and saw the price tag.

Speaker 5:

There's times that I'll grab stuff for a fitting room. Don't check the price tag. Get in there and look and I'm like whoa.

Speaker 1:

Not even trying at all. Does it make you mad when the size you usually wear all of a sudden this size doesn't fit? Of course it does, so that's why there's some ad.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, but I mean I'm not like, like I'm still going to be nice to people, I'm not that mad, but I'm Disappointed, yeah, disappointed, yeah, I just feel like this.

Speaker 1:

You're really into sound effects.

Speaker 5:

Yes, I'm doing a really good job. There are two jobs where 95% of the workforce is female. Can you guess?

Speaker 2:

Two jobs.

Speaker 5:

Yep, there's two jobs where 95% of the workforce is female. One is kindergarten teacher Okay, Kindergarten teacher yeah. I see that, yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a male kindergarten teacher. I know that's a good point. And the other is a dental hygienist.

Speaker 1:

Really, that is an excellent point. I don't know that I've ever had my teeth cleaned by anyone. I've never had my teeth cleaned by a man.

Speaker 5:

No, I haven't either.

Speaker 1:

I've never thought about that.

Speaker 5:

And then here's something that you've got to try, and you've got to try it if you're in your car or if you're listening at home getting ready. Here's a fact it is impossible, and we're all about to try this it is impossible to hum while holding your nose.

Speaker 1:

Really, I've never done. Let's try it. You know it is correct you can't. We'll get Stan to try it in a minute.

Speaker 5:

Stan. Come here. He's watching Rachel. Do this. Come here, stan, let's try it can you?

Speaker 2:

hum while holding your nose, can you?

Speaker 5:

hum while holding your nose. Mmm, no, I've never thought about that. You can about that noise with your mouth, but you can't really yeah, it makes just a noise it's not like yeah, stan had I said I had to see this I've never thought about that, so maybe we'll take a video of everybody humming through their nose. That's a deep, deep thought. Yeah, it is Well good job.

Speaker 1:

Thank you. Morning's crime story. I gave you a heads up saying this is one of the goofiest crime stories we've had in a few days.

Speaker 5:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Guess what state it happens in.

Speaker 5:

Let me guess.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Is it Florida you?

Speaker 1:

are correct, they called him extremely amped up, a-m-p-e-d. A man showed up, extremely amped up, at the jail. He didn't just show up, he drove into the jail, drove through the front door, his car went through the front door and was stopped in the lobby. Okay, and here's the even stranger, this is a Martin County, florida. The man has nothing on from the waist down, he's wearing a lady's top. What the guy pulls? He's driving his car, drives into the lobby and of course it stops. Luckily Nobody was injured. And then he jumps out with no pants on, no underwear on, but he's wearing a lady's top. I don't have a picture. So what do you think? What kind of top do you picture this guy wearing?

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

What do you think?

Speaker 5:

So I'm picturing a nice little crop top with the halter top, shoulders that go across the front and little thin straps. Gotcha With the halter top coming above his belly.

Speaker 1:

So what color do you go for to match your, from the waist down, being naked?

Speaker 5:

I feel like he's a pink kind of guy. Pink yeah Okay, but he can do pink, okay, pink crop top he probably says like Barbie on the front.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he gets even stranger. Okay, his name is Joseph, he's 40. Okay, he. Then they say, he grabs some oil and then begins pouring it on the car and then on himself and threatens to light himself on fire. Motor oil Whoa, he threatens to light himself on fire. Motor oil Whoa, he threatens to light himself on fire. Luckily the police grab him, stop him before he does it. Oh, I forgot to mention he also jumped out and threw two rubber snakes into the lobby and multiple cell phones, threw those also into the lobby.

Speaker 5:

What yeah Wow?

Speaker 3:

Don't know.

Speaker 5:

This guy's got some mental issues going on. Alcohol was involved. Okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 1:

A lot of it. Okay, but he threw two rubber snakes. He's driving around with no pants on holding two rubber snakes in his hand.

Speaker 5:

I just picture him driving on the road like take this.

Speaker 1:

Holding a rubber snake and he has multiple cell phones. Oh, they threw those also into the lobby.

Speaker 5:

Why Don't know this guy's unhinged?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and then he grabbed the motor oil, began pouring it on himself, and the car in Threnz has set it on fire.

Speaker 5:

Oh my gosh. So I Googled is motor oil flammable? Because I didn't know, I just didn't know. But yeah, it says it's highly flammable. It says all it needs to do is be exposed to a spark, flame or high temperature.

Speaker 1:

Well, he didn't have any pants on, so there's possibly a spark somewhere. I don't know Gas, I don't know.

Speaker 5:

Oh, that'd be awful.

Speaker 1:

But he was arrested on multiple charges. That made it easy to arrest him because he's already right there in the jail.

Speaker 5:

I mean, okay, I'm picturing this guy. Yeah, I've been on like steroids or pain pills before, yeah, and I get like I need to sit down, sure, be quiet, yeah, and not say anything.

Speaker 1:

Get a little loopy. Go to sleep, yeah, because you're going to talk out of your head, sure anything, get a little loopy, go to sleep.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, because you're going to talk out of your head. Sure, this guy had to be on something To crash into the front of the lobby. Jump. Throw out two snakes. Yeah, how'd you know? No, I do, yep, jump. And then throw out 11 cell phones, jump.

Speaker 1:

Where do you get all the phones?

Speaker 5:

first of, all it's only so long, and why are?

Speaker 1:

you carrying them around with you With two rubber snakes.

Speaker 5:

What are you going to do? Just throw them. What are you doing? What is this thing?

Speaker 1:

doing. I'm going to beat you with a rubber snake. That's what he was doing, but luckily nobody was hurt. The guy, I guess. They gave him a new wardrobe, they took off the lady's top and gave him a nice little orange jumpsuit.

Speaker 5:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. That's crazy. You're on Facebook. You need to scroll down some for our animal story. This may be one of the most beautiful cows I've ever seen.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And one of the most expensive cows I've ever seen. They say this cow is worth about $4 million. Now. It's from Brazil. Now, brazil has hundreds of million cows, but one in particular is extraordinary. Her massive snow-white body is watched over by security cameras, a veterinarian and an armed guard. An armed guard they watch it nonstop because it's that expensive, it's that special, it's a. How do you say the name? Is it Viatina? Uh-huh, viatina, yeah, viatina 19 is the cow's official name. They're now saying it's the most expensive cow ever sold at auction. According to Guinness World Records, it sold for $4 million for a cow.

Speaker 5:

Dang yeah. Who's got that kind of money? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, but they now have security, they have cameras, they have its very own personal vet that only takes care of this one cow.

Speaker 5:

Tell about the eggs.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Now if you would like to receive eggs from the cow to help, you know, maybe have your own little cow from Vietina. It's going to cost you $250,000 to have some of the egg sales from Vietina.

Speaker 5:

So let me get my math straight. You buy this cow for $4 million. How many $250,000 sales does you have to take to get your money back?

Speaker 1:

Well, four would be $1 million, so it would be $16,000, I guess. Easy To get the money back, Easy. And they say they've already sold more than that. Oh my gosh, this cow also. I didn't know they had such a thing. It won a special award, including Miss South America. Oh, it's much like it says. Says a beauty contest for cows.

Speaker 5:

Oh, so it's not only the world's most expensive cow, yeah. It's the world's most beautiful cow.

Speaker 1:

It won Miss South America for cattle.

Speaker 5:

It is a very odd looking cow. It's huge.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Look at the guy standing next to it in the picture. First of all, I would be so intimidated to stand beside that cow, wouldn't you? Could you imagine being in the pasture? This thing gets loose and comes after you.

Speaker 5:

Uh no. And then what's the hump on its back? Why does it have a big hump?

Speaker 1:

It's just the way they are.

Speaker 5:

It's just that certain breed Cows? Yeah, some of them do, some of them do. Yeah, I didn't know they had that.

Speaker 1:

Some do, but it's just the breed it is.

Speaker 5:

But it is, it's.

Speaker 1:

And then the front of it has tons of loose skin. It's just an amazing gift. Words of wisdom, the quote of the day we'll leave you with, and this one we talked about it earlier. I think this is a great one because there are so many people out there like your mom yeah, works with seniors, cares for seniors but I think this is just a great quote for everybody to think about this morning yeah, it says caring for our seniors is perhaps the greatest responsibility we have.

Speaker 1:

Those who walk before us have given us so much and have made possible the life we all enjoy yeah, always show them respect and, you know, help, take care of them, help do things for them, because they've done so much like for us when we were little, done so much for us when we were little. They took care of us when we were little.

Speaker 5:

They did, and they've raised generations, they've seen generations, they've lived generations and now they need help, being taken care of, and there's nothing that irks me more than elderly care, when people just neglect elderly.

Speaker 1:

Ignore them.

Speaker 5:

Because they can't function for themselves, and if you are a good geriatric nurse, thank you for your service.

Speaker 1:

You do a great job. Yes, yes you do Good stuff. It's 856.
