Speaker 1:

hello, welcome back to whispers and reggae. I'm baron battlebread, the current game master and, I believe, last when we left off with the Timebreakers.

Speaker 2:

Timebreakers.

Speaker 1:

Time Timebreakers. They had defended their ship. They got in a fight with William. They defeated William and during their long rest the piece of divinity was found by Gimble placed in a jar and taken away from his ship. Thank goodness, the party woke up in the morning and are preparing to embark down the mountain on their trip back to Regate.

Speaker 3:

Did we jump out of the hole using the jump spell?

Speaker 1:

You want to use the jump spell to jump down the mountain.

Speaker 3:

No, to get out of the hole crater that we're in.

Speaker 1:

You are in. I mean you don't have to be in the crater. You could probably jump off the back of the ship and not be in the crater. That's how William got in he climbed up the back of the ship instead of going into the crater.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, but in fairness William's a vampire, so he might have been strawed in disguise.

Speaker 1:

You know we're not clear on that, but it is early morning, you are all fully refreshed and Elise is carrying the star in her dark. You guys have to figure out how you want to go down the mountain. You already know what's waiting for you.

Speaker 3:

We have horses and there's a road.

Speaker 1:

How many horses do we still have? Is it just the one? So you have a riding horse and a draft horse.

Speaker 5:

Hold up, there's only two horses, yeah well, what happened to my horse?

Speaker 3:

It got eaten. Shimmer is taking the riding horse again waiting for a lease.

Speaker 1:

I got a walking speed of 40 feet. I got this Okay. So you guys, you get on your horses. Are you guys doubling up again, or I assume that's what we're doing.

Speaker 5:

There's five people in it, so I'll be on.

Speaker 1:

Yeah but Gimble is very short. Hey, Gimble, do you count as a small or a medium creature? Gimbal, I count as a small creature. A horse might be able to hold three of you.

Speaker 3:

A draft horse would probably be able to hold three.

Speaker 2:

That can be Thaddeus, sarah and Gimbal Let me see Where's my description.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I never put my height and weight in here.

Speaker 6:

Oh goodness.

Speaker 5:

I was like three foot tall or something.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you are a little over three foot tall.

Speaker 6:

Uh, but you are also made of metal and weigh about 40 pounds. Well, I, I, I could definitely, I definitely have uh, a mobile uh situation. That could definitely solve our problems your chip not quite. Uh, good old gamby needs a little bit of uh r&r. She's gonna to need some work done. But when I do make ports, I do have a craft that I tend to utilize so that I can get around in more nimble situations. I have a cart.

Speaker 3:

There's a that's probably can it fly.

Speaker 6:

Once, like that's probably, can it fly Once?

Speaker 5:

Sounds like a plan to me. Well, I say we jump on the gnome's wagon.

Speaker 6:

Sarah sees nothing wrong with the fact that it can only fly once and then not work again no, gimbal does have a wagon that is specifically designed for getting over rough terrain and stuff like that, so it could haul everybody out.

Speaker 3:

He just needs some way to pull it, because he doesn't have any horses right now oh, shiver is just gonna take the horse and not connect hers to the thing and it's going to get tired and start trying to lead it away. Like come on, guys, she is waiting with her horse. Shimmer is waiting with her horse at the edge of the trail. Like come on.

Speaker 1:

Okay, who wants to use Gimble's cart and who thinks you guys should make their way through just on horses?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I'll jump on the wagon.

Speaker 3:

Zimmer is not about to get in a cart with them.

Speaker 2:

The lesser beings, like out of everybody in this group. Elise doesn't care for most people. She's a misanthrope. But Shimmer is a noble which automatically earns respect in her eyes. So she's going misanthrope, but Shimmer is a noble, which automatically earns respect in her eyes. So she's going to go with Shimmer.

Speaker 3:

And also there's still the gap.

Speaker 1:

So Gimble, sarah and Thaddeus hook up the draft horse to the cart and make their way back down where Shimmer and Elise are going to ride the riding horse.

Speaker 5:

Yes, so basically, what I heard out of elise is that you plebs don't have any money, whereas she has money exactly well.

Speaker 2:

So here's the thing specifically about sarah. Elise doesn't realize that this character is sapience. Oh yeah, she doesn't show very well she's. She's not aware that sarah is a thinking feeling creature. It could just be, you know, faulty wiring programming, got it. It's not aware that Sarah is a thinking feeling creature. It could just be faulty wiring programming, got it. Until the conversation gets deeper, until there's actually a conversation between Elise and Sarah, she's not going to pick up on the fact that this is a real person.

Speaker 1:

Got it All right. So who's driving the cart? That would be Gimble Okay and Shimmer. I believe you. That would be Gimble Okay and Shimmer. I believe you're going to be leading your horse, you're going to be holding the reins, I guess.

Speaker 3:

At this point? Yes, okay cool.

Speaker 1:

So you guys start after everyone gets situated, you start making your way back down the mountain. The path is, you know, a little rocky, a little windy, a little annoying, but the first step is, you know it's pretty good.

Speaker 6:

Those in the wagon will notice that it's a relatively smooth ride.

Speaker 5:

It's not as bumpy as I thought On the way down.

Speaker 4:

Thaddeus says wow, this is a relatively smooth ride.

Speaker 1:

You guys continue down the path until you come to Shimmer's first fear. The gap In front of you all as you come down the path is a 15-foot hole in the path. We get a new brand of wagon jumpers.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Shimmer's going to range over to the draft horse and cast jump on it before touching her own horse and casting jump and then jumping gap. Okay, the riding horse gets a quick run up and you watch as it gracefully leaped the gap with no problem. Gimble, you're in charge of this cart.

Speaker 6:

Gimble. He pulls on a lever next to the reins and the horses and the cart just glide over top of the hole. It wouldn't be all terrain if a little something like a hole would stop us.

Speaker 1:

He said, the cart can fly once as such. I suppose that has happened.

Speaker 4:

I got to say this wagon's really jumping.

Speaker 2:

All right, if we didn't already have a title for our group, we could be called the wagon jumpers.

Speaker 1:

Boo, the jumping wagons. You guys continue to make your way down the mountain no particular issues this time around. Shimmer as the one in the lead and currently guiding your horse, roll me a survival check Survival. You guys continue to make your way down the mountain no particular issues this time around. Shimmer as the one in the lead and currently guiding your horse, roll me a survival check Survival there you are 22.

Speaker 1:

Nice, with the morning sun coming over and a fresh start on the day, you follow this path through the woods, no problem. You make it to the bottom of the mountain, you continue heading out along a path previously traveled, and you guys make it back to the edge of the mountain. You continue heading out along a path previously traveled, and you guys make it back to the edge of the village that you left previously and about half the time it took you to get up the mountain in the first place.

Speaker 1:

Nice, yes, and you know that from the north side of this village it's about a dave's travel through the forest and then over the plains to get back to reggae well shimmer doesn't know that shimmer might know that elise does.

Speaker 3:

I know elise does shimmer doesn't, because she was in the necklace the whole time, up until the village.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my goodness, that's right. Shimmer has no idea how long it took to get here. So the question is do you guys want to go through the village to get back on the north path, or do you want to go around the village?

Speaker 4:

I would like to go around the village please.

Speaker 5:

What's wrong with going through the village?

Speaker 4:

I'll explain later, okay.

Speaker 3:

Once we get past the village, I'm going to actually switch with Elise, because I don't know where I'm going at this point. Okay, if that's okay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it takes probably another hour of travel making your way around the village, instead of cutting through it, to get back on the path that takes you north to reggae. As you make it through, it's probably just after mid-morning when you reach the edge of the king's forest. If at this point, you have switched, elise, you would be in the lead. So roll me a survival check. That is a 13. Nice. Okay, so you guys are on the path through the forest, making your way through with little issue. About halfway through what you believe is your journey, elise, I need you to roll me a deck, save 18. Nice, a large branch catches you in the shoulder, but you manage to hang on and you hear a chittering in the trees above you.

Speaker 5:

Just, that's a weird chittering.

Speaker 1:

It is.

Speaker 3:

How close did it get to hitting Shimmer?

Speaker 1:

It came from an arc above so when it struck Elise it kind of stopped rather than continuing. But you know they held on, they didn't take damage from it.

Speaker 3:

I'm asking because Shimmer might get offended at almost getting hit by a branch and just Eldritch Blast the branch.

Speaker 1:

Normally that wouldn't be a problem. Just Eldritch Blast the branch. Normally that wouldn't be a problem. But Eldritch Blast does not target objects.

Speaker 5:

You make an attack roll with it, so why wouldn't it?

Speaker 1:

Because that's not how the magic works. Eldritch Blast targets creatures.

Speaker 3:

But I want to use it to attack a branch.

Speaker 5:

Does that mean you can't use it to attack constructs? Well, constructs are creatures.

Speaker 1:

I know weird right. I believe it was intended to prevent the overuse of such a powerful spell being used on anything and everything.

Speaker 2:

Elisa whispered to Shimmer over her shoulder. I truly hate the wildlife of this fucking forest.

Speaker 3:

Shimmer will nod and hum in agreement, basically Roll me a perception check, elise Nine.

Speaker 1:

You look up to see what kind of creature could be making that noise. And just as you look up, you catch a fleeting glimpse of an ape in the trees above you. But it soon disappears and you continue on your way. That was about right. I hate the wildlife. As you continue down the path, you hear the chittering again, just the constant howl and screeching and teeth clacking of the creatures in the trees above you. Gimble in the cart.

Speaker 1:

Yes, owe me a survival check it's a nat 20 nice so 26 as you come along the path, the riding horse had stepped over this log with no issues. You driving a cart, you attempt to make your way through and, after some coaxing and pushing and pulling, do you have any other means of getting the cart over this log or do you plan on just crashing through it?

Speaker 6:

Like I said before, this cart is all terrain, so there is no terrain that is too difficult for this cart to get over.

Speaker 1:

All right, feed bump as you go, and the cart. You know, I like to think the cart has treads, so it just kind of rolls over. Yeah, pretty much as rolls over. Yeah, pretty much as the cart is climbing over this. You dodge out of the way of the same branch. That almost got Elise Thaddeus. However, roll me a dex save.

Speaker 4:

Five.

Speaker 1:

Thaddeus, you get smacked in the side of the head with a large branch that comes springing out of the trees above you. What the hell just hit me?

Speaker 5:

Samurai trials for a weapon.

Speaker 1:

You will take two points of bludgeoning damage and roll me a perception check.

Speaker 5:

Can I also roll a perception check?

Speaker 1:

You drew your weapon.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Uh, you won't need to. 23. Thaddeus, you look up and you see, at the end of the branch is a large ape just sitting in the tree above you swinging a stick around.

Speaker 4:

I turn to Gimble Gimble. There's something in the tree is a large ape of some kind that's swinging, sticks around at us.

Speaker 2:

I think my favorite is the word-for-word reinterpretation of what Red says every time.

Speaker 1:

So, uh, thaddeus gets hit in the head with a stick. You see the ape up there and Gimble decides to just keep driving no interaction. I will throw a rock see the ape up there and Gimble decides to just keep driving no interaction.

Speaker 5:

I saw a rock at the ape. Where did you get a rock?

Speaker 6:

This is not the Pokemon Safari Zone.

Speaker 1:

Catch him. Catch him, roll an improvised weapon, I guess. Roll a hit with a ranged attack. We believe in you, sarah.

Speaker 5:

It's just going to be what dex plus proficiency.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, d20 plus dex and proficiency 24. Okay, roll me a d4 plus your strength modifier.

Speaker 5:

Ideal five damage to it.

Speaker 1:

You guys hear a thud as Sarah throws the rock, it cracks against the ape. The ape falls out of the tree and hits the ground on the path behind you. How far did it fall? Far enough that it is unconscious. It was in the trees on the edge of the cliff, next to the path, and then you hit it with a rock and it fell down.

Speaker 5:

Due to the fact that it is not moving anymore. I will put away my weapon and sit back down and say don't mess with that.

Speaker 1:

Sarah, as you're sitting back down, I want you to roll me a perception check. Thank you, sir. Uh 10, you don't see anything, but you get this eerie feeling of being watched and you guys continue down the path. I would say that it's probably late morning, almost noon, around the time you make it out of the king's forest with your previous survival checks. There are no serious issues left along the way. You guys want to continue through your day, or would you like to stop for lunch? Finally, civilization. You can see the walls of the city in the distance how far is it until we actually reach that?

Speaker 2:

shimmer's asking elise, but I don't personally know how far.

Speaker 1:

Was it about an hour uh, a little more than an hour probably. You guys just exited the king's forest. It's just around noon at this point, so three to four hours travel.

Speaker 2:

If you're not, you know sprinting along it should be another two, maybe three hours until we get to the walls I prefer to get back to civilization.

Speaker 1:

I would as well after a brief lunch, probably eaten while you're walking along the road. At least least you're leading. Roll me a perception check.

Speaker 2:

My die in D&D Beyond is cocked but it came out to 15 perception. What do you mean On the screen? So on the screen it shows the die roll but it hit the corner, so like it wasn't actually flat. Luckily for us, d&d Beyond actually shows the results.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I've had it do that before. The electronic dice is gone.

Speaker 1:

They made the physics too real.

Speaker 5:

They made the physics too real. Yeah, it stops on the corner of the screen and it's just like kind of is at an angle, oh geez. Or in my case, if I'm using it on my computer, it will just kind of stop wherever and sometimes it'll be like really diagonal well, with a 15.

Speaker 1:

From where you are, you can see the main road, and on the main road you can see a caravan of carts making their way towards reggae.

Speaker 4:

Quite a lot of people in them can I roll history to find out if, uh, this is part of the festival everybody gathering, if you want yeah, go ahead makes sense to me 22

Speaker 1:

yeah, the caravan that you see before you, especially with so many people attached to it, is likely a group of tourists coming in from the various surrounding small town to find a place to stay and get ready for the next day's festival I uh tell the party that, um, hang on, dang, it was going to have that all lined out.

Speaker 4:

I basically relay all the information to the party.

Speaker 2:

You think it'll be harder to get inside the walls. Shouldn't be right.

Speaker 4:

I don't see why not.

Speaker 3:

Weren't we specifically sent by royal people, we shouldn't have a problem.

Speaker 1:

You mean Prince Renor?

Speaker 3:

Well, shimmer doesn't actually know who sent us, so she's assuming it was one of the nobles Right, though she's assuming it was one of the nobles Right.

Speaker 1:

you were in the necklace for that too weren't you. Yes, I was. You went to bed in a house in Reggae and you woke up in a village a day's travel away.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, She-Ra was very confused, with a sentient skeleton in it.

Speaker 3:

Right. No, the skeleton became a non-sentient at the same time. I got pushed out of the thing, so she never saw the skeleton became non-sentient at the same time I got pushed out of the thing, so she never saw the skeleton. She never met Tom.

Speaker 5:

I mean, did anybody really meet Tom? Then yeah, I pulled it out, and then he said hey, and then that's where we cut Technically.

Speaker 3:

Sarah talked to Tom and Elise and Thaddeus. Well, thaddeus talked to Tom. Elise was there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, elise was tailing them, Thaddeus and Sarah were talking to Tom. They got some information and everything turned into a pile of bones. That's right. Do you guys make your travels? Would you like to join the main road or would you like to travel across the plains?

Speaker 4:

I don't see where we'd have any difficulty getting in. We could just travel the main road and join everybody for the festival.

Speaker 3:

Whichever way gets us there faster.

Speaker 5:

Definitely won't have anything go wrong. Indeed Okay.

Speaker 1:

So you guys make your way to the main road, Because your carts and horses are not currently overloaded with people and other goods and things. You soon find yourself at the head of this caravan, having successfully passed them pretty quick.

Speaker 4:

Out of my way. Sunday drivers yeah, pretty much.

Speaker 1:

After about an hour's travel, you know the walls of the city are growing larger. You're well on your way there. Suddenly the air around you grows cold.

Speaker 3:

I knew it.

Speaker 1:

The air around you is growing colder and clouds are forming in the sky, dark and gray. The wind picks up Just a chilling bite to it. You can hear the people behind you murmuring.

Speaker 2:

I hadn't realized it'd be a storm.

Speaker 4:

I suppose we better make it even quicker back to the city, indeed, as part of my history check, would I remember that there was a storm like this?

Speaker 1:

You would remember hearing rumors that a group of tourists had been waylaid by a blizzard on their way, and then the snow starts falling.

Speaker 4:

I vaguely remember something along this line about a group of tourists that were waylaid by a blizzard.

Speaker 1:

We were a group of tourists. You also remember that only a handful of them survived.

Speaker 4:

I also remember that only a handful of them survived.

Speaker 5:

That's not good. I will pull out my rapier casually.

Speaker 1:

The snow starts falling harder and faster, the wind picking up around you as the snow kicks up around you, you can hear the voices of the people in the carts behind you. Just you know they're murmuring. Some are shouting. Guards are gathering blankets and coats and anything else they could to keep people covered. What would you guys like to do?

Speaker 3:

Well, I don't think invisibility would help us at all, and plus that would just kind of leave the rest of the party behind. I got nothing.

Speaker 5:

I'm inorganic, so I don't think I'm cold.

Speaker 1:

No, Sarah, you wouldn't feel the cold.

Speaker 3:

I have resistance cold, so for some reason, oh yeah, I know why, I can tell it starts to affect my gears?

Speaker 5:

I don't think so, For some reason. Oh yeah, I know why. I can tell it starts to take my gears.

Speaker 2:

I don't think I'm having any issues. I don't really think there would be any preparation required if all we're doing is riding through a blizzard that's coming.

Speaker 5:

I just have my rapier out.

Speaker 4:

Thaddeus leans over and he tinkers with Sarah just slightly to turn her into a heater.

Speaker 5:

I am now generating heat.

Speaker 1:

Now hang on, Roll me a d20 plus your proficiency for your tinker schools.

Speaker 5:

Wouldn't that be an intelligence check?

Speaker 1:

No, because if he built you he would know how to do it. I'm just wondering if he can do it on a cart.

Speaker 4:

One second. I gotta stop laughing before I say this. I got a two with a proficiency bonus of two gives me a total of four.

Speaker 1:

Sarah, you are not emitting heat, You're emitting cold. You've been turned into an AC.

Speaker 5:

Can I pick up on what he meant in trying to fix it?

Speaker 4:

Question Since I am in close proximity to Gimbal, can I roll that again?

Speaker 1:

Gimbal, is that how your power works?

Speaker 4:

Nope, okay, never mind.

Speaker 1:

I guess not.

Speaker 4:

Thanks for asking, though you know I try to ask.

Speaker 1:

Sarah, you open your mouth to say something to Thaddeus. Instead of a voice, what first comes out of your mouth is a blast of cold air, and you guys continue to ride through the blizzard.

Speaker 5:

I think, with that being considered, I I'm probably going to start taking like freezing damage faster. Uh, because now I am an extra source of cold in the middle of a blizzard I fail to see how this is helpful.

Speaker 4:

Well, I thought I could actually do some changes and sarah would actually become a heater. I didn't know that I would basically turn sarah into a refrigerator. I thought I needed a frozen heart for that, boo.

Speaker 1:

Elise, as the person currently leading the party, roll me a perception check 17. You guys have been traveling for some time now and you realized that while your teammates are behind you you know they're having a conversation you don't hear any of the other caravan anymore. You turn to look back and all you can see is just the white of the blizzard. The snow behind you has stopped. You have come out of the edge of it, but you cannot see or hear into the storm. Ah, excellent, we are come out of the edge of it, but you cannot see or hear into the storm.

Speaker 2:

Ah, excellent, we are now out of the storm completely.

Speaker 5:

What Hold on? Can you repeat that?

Speaker 2:

We are finally out of the storm completely.

Speaker 5:

I thought we were in the middle of a blizzard.

Speaker 2:

still, Brett said that we had left the edge of the storm. Yeah, oh, that's the part.

Speaker 5:

I didn't pick up on, I was just like wait, wait, wait. We were in the storm, we looked behind us. All we can see is white and then all of a sudden, like we're good, we left it behind.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pretty much, there's no more. You see a wall of blowing snow behind you and you guys are currently standing in what is essentially a nice summer's day.

Speaker 4:

Huh, that's interesting. Sarah, come here and I'm going to attempt to revert Sarah's settings back to normal so she's not emitting cold.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it feels pretty good now.

Speaker 4:

Aside from Sarah emitting cold.

Speaker 5:

I mean, due to the fact that we just got out of the blizzard, I feel like I'm still emitting a good bit of cold.

Speaker 1:

You guys continue along the path.

Speaker 5:

That's not how weather works. As I'm looking at the blizzard behind us and the nice summer day in front of us.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it doesn't take much longer. As you ponder the effects of the weather around the space, you guys take maybe another hour, you come up to the edge of the wall and you guys find yourselves at the gate. No problem, welcome back.

Speaker 4:

Was I able to revert Sarah's settings back to normal?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, reverting it back when you're, you know, not in a blizzard. Pretty easy for you.

Speaker 4:

Okay, I also take note of those settings because I might need them in the future. Yeah, yeah. I also take note of those settings because I might need them in the future.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, next time you roll to change the temperature, I'll give you advantage.

Speaker 5:

Next time we're walking through a fucking desert or an area of extreme heat, just set me to cold.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you know what? I'll give you an inspiration die for learning something new about your creation.

Speaker 2:

Yay Nice.

Speaker 1:

Congratulations. You have successfully made it down the mountain back to reggae. Yay, that was far less eventful than I expected.

Speaker 2:

Good job, it helps when the characters don't care about the events.

Speaker 1:

It's a little weird sometimes I I will say but you're right, they would have no reason to handle things any differently I mean speaking out of character here. The blizzard's a little fucking alarming yeah, but that's all for now, and when we return next episode, I'm sure the time breakers will continue to impress us breakers time breakers.

Speaker 1:

We are currently testing out some new editing techniques. We have a new editor working on our stuff, so if things are sounding different, let us know if they're better or worse for how you perceive us.
