Have you seen that video of the Brazilian marathon runner who ran right by her kids? So if you haven't, there is a viral video of a marathon runner who was just about to cross the finish line and her husband was waiting before the finish line with her two kids and kind of pushed them into the race so i guess she could greet them or something and in the smoothest motion ever she ran right around those kids past them to go on to win the race and you kind of see him in the background like you know shrugging his shoulders lifting his arms like why did she do that You know, and the sweetest thing about the video is her victory.  like she did not just run around her kids. It was a beautiful thing to behold, but very understandably, most of what I have been seeing on the internet has been,  think pieces about the husband and why he would do this. And, you know, all of the things that women with kids have to deal with when they're trying to achieve their goals.

And they're all spot on, you know, that was really messed up.  And I have many thoughts on the fact that he even did that, put his kids in danger, all of those things.  And I actually even did a video myself because my first thought was, wow, that was messed up. My second thought was.  F those kids and I made a video just about that with one of my favorite TikTok songs.

If you have not heard it before, go look it up. it is the most hilarious song you've ever heard, but my point is that you get to choose. How you absorb information like this? So, yes, seeing that video could trigger something in you from your own life, your own relationship, your own marriage, and how you and your partner interact when it comes to responsibilities with your kids, what is expected of you in terms of your goals, giving up all for the children, you know, the different dynamics when it comes to you excelling above and beyond your partner.

But the choice I make when I see that is inspiration. My favorite part of the video was, yes, her running around the kids was funny.  But the end, her victory, the joy of her accomplishing that goal. It was infectious. It was amazing. It was celebratory. Empowering. And that's what I choose to focus on.

And that's what I want you to focus on as well. What goal are you running towards, and will you run around your kids, your partner, your job, your patients, to get there?  Will you celebrate unabashedly, with no guilt, no regrets?  Because you deserve that. You deserve to fully celebrate achieving everything that you want and to not be made to feel guilty for any of it. So if you haven't seen the video, go look it up. There are many, many opinions about it. But just remember, you get to choose what you take from all of these things that we see on the internet. You get to choose your perspective. You get to choose the story and one choice for you is inspiration.

Okay. So I would love for you to share this episode with another physician mom who needs inspiration to go after her goals, no matter what.

Don't forget to leave us a five-star review. It really helps us reach even more physician moms and I will see you on the next episode of Stethoscopes and Strollers.
