Open to JOY!

Second chakra is the sacral chakra. This chakra holds our joy, bliss, pleasure, and sexuality. It is the source of our creativity and expression. This chakra is located above the pubic bone and below the belly button. It houses genitals, large intestine, kidneys, and bladder. The color correlated with this chakra is orange.

Our growth and development impacts how we express ourselves through this chakra. Are we contracted and shut down that leads to poor digestion or pain during intercourse? Are we holding shame or pain in our pelvic floor that prevents us from receiving joy, bliss, and pleasure? Are the trapped emotions impacting the muscles in a tight restricted way that distorts posture leading to pain and dysfunction? 

Somatic healing strategies such as dance offer unwinding of these trapped emotions to create space to receive joy.
