AI-GENERATED TRANSCRIPT - MAY CONTAIN ERRORS

Morning, I hope you enjoy this little episode. This is one that I recorded a while back, all about the length of blog posts and what they should be. It's just a super short, bite-sized little episode.

Let me know if you enjoy these little bite-sized podcast episodes or if you prefer the longer ones or if you quite like a mix. You can either do that by texting the show, which you'll find the details of how to do that in the show notes.

Or if you're in the Facebook group, pop in, pop over into there and drop, drop me a little comment and let me know. Or feel free to send me a message and let me know what type of podcast episodes you like to hear.

I hope you enjoy it and hope you find it helpful.

Hi! So I've just popped on to record a little video about blog posts. This question was asked in a group that I'm in, about the length that a blog post should be, and, I'm sat outside Ikea waiting for them to open.

After a conversation with my husband yesterday about that. I didn't leave my full-time job to spend all day, every day working, which is what I do tend to do and just constantly working. So I thought I need some freezer bags.

I'm going to pop to Ikea. I love a drive. And when I, when I'm driving, it really helps me get clear in my mind and I always get loads of ideas when I'm driving. So I thought, actually, I'm going to nip to Ikea, treat myself to nip to Ikea this morning. Um, so about the blog posts.

How Long Should a Blog Post Be?

So the question was, how long should a blog post be to be good from an SEO point of view? And the answer is, it all depends. It depends on what other content is out there.

So what I would suggest doing, if you know what keywords you want your blog to rank for. So if you've got an idea about what the blog's topic is and what you actually want to show up on Google for. Then what you need to do is type that into Google and see what else is there.

Strategies for Effective Blog Posts

So it's good to take a note of what kind of content is there. So if you write a blog or if you've got an idea for a blog and when you Google that keyword or that key phrase, you can. It's actually lots of people's service pages there or something different that is not blog articles or articles style pages that come up.

Then possibly it might not be the best keyword because Google isn't, isn't, associating that keyword with articles. So if you find some articles there, so yeah, okay, it's valid, it's a blog, blog idea, and it, Google is showing that as an. As an article, then have a look at what articles are near the top of Google.

So the first two or three, just have a little look at them, see roughly how long they are. And if they're say it's a, if say if they're, you've got three or four and they're all 500-word blogs, really short ones, not a lot in them, then you could probably get away with writing, say 750-word blog, and just putting more content into yours, making it helpful or also put maybe putting a different point of view. Google likes variety.

It's a bullet point of view. So that's another way you could do it and you could stand out. Whereas if it's a 1500-word blog, then you're going to need to write more than that to actually then show up on Google.

I mean, it could also be the complete opposite. So if there's loads of really, really long articles and actually you can get that information across quite succinctly and you can get it into bullet points or you can make your point with even videos is amazing. But even if you can make your point with infographics or something along those lines.

Lines where that's also gonna help you stand out. Then that could be another strategy that could help you with blog posts.

Let me know if you are writing blog posts, and if you are, do you do keyword research beforehand? I'd love to know whether that is something that you do and if you don't, I'd love to know whether it's just you not sure how to do that, or you don't get round to it, or you're just in the flow with the blog and you just want to write it and get it out there. So I hope you found that helpful.

Final Thoughts and Call to Action

One of the things I would say since I recorded this episode is I would be thinking if I'm creating blogs, I'm thinking about does this align with my core topics? Have I already covered it somewhere else that I could actually improve that content rather than creating new content? And what other content can I link to around this topic?

I think we often can create articles without necessarily thinking about the bigger picture and thinking about how we can use it strategically to help improve our website and then improve our whole online authority really.
