Project 20 - Week 2 Update | Journey to a Sub 20 Minute 5K Parkrun
Welcome back to Project 20! ๐ This week marks 10% completion of my 20-week journey to achieve a sub 20-minute 5k parkrun. Week 2 went smoother than the first, with my body adjusting well to the strength sessions. ๐ช
Here's a quick rundown:
- Two strength sessions ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
- Five easy 8k runs ๐โโ๏ธ
- Speed session with mile repeats ๐โโ๏ธ๐จ
- Finished with a 12k long run ๐โโ๏ธ
Join me as I share my progress, challenges, and learnings from this week. Remember, it's all about trusting the process and staying committed. Letโs see what Week 3 brings! ๐
Well, week 2 of Project 20 training plan is done, so I'm 10 percent into my 20 week program to get to sub 20 minutes parkrun so it's a 20 week program, called from stay running start running, probably the other way around, start running, stay running, is Got me on a 20 week program to hit that goal. So this week was a bit like the first week except went a lot better. two strength sessions this week, two last week, felted in the legs the days after that. So my body's adjusted to the strength sessions. five, then what I would call my daily eights, but just lowered down in speed and pace and effort. So that they're a bit like, I guess some quasi rest days as much as a rest day I get is just a nice easy eight so five of them a speed session did that on Tuesday knocked out mile repeats and that's when you know Carl and I discussed a mile he said a mile Further than one kilometre, not quite as far as two, and I reminded him it's got more to do with two kilometres than one. So they were fun. We did three one mile repeats. I was able to, smash out the last one, and my last one was the fastest, so that was good. finished the week off with a 12k. longer run, just putting some kilometers in the legs. So I'm trying to do that thing where I don't know what next week is. I think it's a bit more of the same, but I'm trying not to look ahead. So I don't create roadblocks in my mind. Cause I want to just follow the process and I want to get under 20. I want to do all the things that Carl says to do. not because then if it doesn't work, I can blame someone else. but because that's the idea. We go to coaches because we need accountability and the knowledge to go This is what I've tried to do on my own. I can't get there. Can you help me? And so I've got to have faith in following the process And doing all of the things that are required to get to sub 20. So week two Done. I'll let you know how week three goes
