Morning by Morning, October 1, 2024 - Asking for Wisdom

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re the Source of my salvation and the Center of my life. I look to You, as I begin the spiritual journey of my day (Hebrews 12:1-2). ...

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

You know every question in my mind. You know every need in my life--every struggle, every frustration, everything I’m facing that tries to stand between my questions and Your peace.

So I’m asking for Your wisdom, Lord God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Put Your thoughts in my mind. Set Your path before my steps. Line up my thoughts with Your thoughts and my choices with Your wisdom.

Help me not rely on my own thinking while insisting on my own way or failing to look and listen for Your way. Yours is better. Always better.

So help me take a big breath. Help me focus on You, take time to wait on You, to listen for Your leading as You speak into my spirit and bring Your thoughts up to my mind to direct my steps. Help me yield my perspective to Your perspective and surrender my will to Your will. Just as Your Timeless Truths declare from Your Words of Wisdom for me today and every day:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
 And lean not on your own understanding;
 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
 And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

So as best as I can and all by Your grace, I seek You and Your wisdom, trusting in You with all my heart, not my own understanding apart from You. I choose to stop and wait and acknowledge You and the wisdom of Your ways, believing in faith “(You) shall direct (my) paths.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
