Have you ever felt like you're standing on the edge of a cliff, ready to leap into the unknown? Join me, Alexandra, as we unpack the fascinating journey of the Fool card in tarot. Just as the Fool stands on the precipice of adventure, I find myself embarking on my own unpredictable path, transitioning from app development to podcasting. Through personal stories of marriage, motherhood, and single parenthood, I explore how the Fool's essence of unpredictability, associated with Uranus, mirrors the twists and turns of my own life.

I'll draw connections between the Fool and characters from two unique tarot decks: Frodo in the Lord of the Rings Tarot, representing hesitant adventure, and the burdened Fool of the Idle Hands Tarot. These parallels illuminate my own journey into podcasting, fraught with both excitement and responsibility. As we discuss the importance of faith, purpose, and companionship, I invite you to reflect on your own life's adventure. Let’s take this leap of faith together, exploring the wisdom of all 78 tarot cards.

Alexandra Virginia:

Welcome to the first episode of Intimate Tarot. I'm your host, Alexandra, and today we're going to talk about the Fool. The Fool is card number zero. He is the protagonist of the Taro story. That's why it's called the Fool's Journey. We are following him through his stages of character development, while he meets various teachers and life lessons.

Alexandra Virginia:

This podcast tells my personal journey through marriage, motherhood, divorce, dating as a single parent, working as a single parent, my mental breakdowns as a consequence of the above, and lots of other fun stuff. So this makes me the fool in this story. The astrological association of the fool is Uranus, planet of unpredictability, and I believe this is the key to understand this card. The fool speaks of adventure, which, by definition, is an exciting experience in which dangerous or unusual things happen. So you get that uranian vibe of the unplanned, the unforeseasable, intimate tarot is my adventure because it came to me unexpectedly as a result of failing to launch my app. What happened was I signed with passionio to create an app. I was having this incredible idea targeted towards spiritual single moms who are trying so very hard to find balance between personal life, work, dating, and I was having the desire to create community more than selling something, which was the problem, because this app is designed to help you sell your product. It's a 30 days challenge. You sell your product. It's a 30 days challenge and every day you go step by step to identify your core values, your target, your product, and then eventually they will give you the tools to sell it. But as I am halfway through it, I realized I don't have an actual product to sell. All I have is my knowledge and personal experience and the deep desire to connect with others by telling my story. So, as I am brainstorming with myself, basically I realized podcasting is probably the best creative outlet for me. I am a well-known talker. Being Italian, I'm super warm and friendly. I don't mind sharing the highs and lows of my life. I actually find vulnerability a very attractive quality.

Alexandra Virginia:

So now I'm here starting podcasting and I have in front of me two cards. One is the fool from the Lord of the Rings tarot and the other is the Fool from the Idle Hands tarot. Both of them exemplify how I feel about this podcast journey. In the first one, we see Frodo reluctant about starting this adventure because he never left the comfort of the Shire before. He didn't even ask for this. The ring was left into his custody and now, suddenly, it becomes his mission to destroy it, and he's willing to help, though he doesn't know the way to murder. I do feel the same hesitant, scared vibe of Frodo right now because, as much as I'm confident in my tarot knowledge and I could talk about love and life for days I am out of my comfort zone with recording and audio editing and promoting the podcast. What started as a creative idea is now shaping into a potential business, which brings me to the second card.

Alexandra Virginia:

In here, the fool is carrying the world on his shoulders. I am unemployed right now. I lost my job for health reasons, which is something I will talk about in the tower episode. So I am approaching this adventure with the heaviness of responsibility, because I need this to work for myself and for my family, as I am a single parent of two small children.

Alexandra Virginia:

This card reminds me that not all journeys are to be taken lightly. An adventure, if taken seriously, can reap you unexpected rewards. But you also have to have faith, and perhaps that's the real meaning of the Fool card. How are you approaching your journey? Mindlessly or purposely? What do you want to get out of it? Can you show blind faith in yourself and trust the universe. Another thing I want to mention is that in most tarot decks, the Fool is never alone. There is always a loyal companion next to him, often a dog. In the Lord of the Rings, tarot is Gollum. So when the fool appears in a reading, ask yourself who is with me on this journey.

Alexandra Virginia:

Today is episode zero. I mean episode one, but this is zero, and I am taking my leap of faith in the unknown world of podcasting, with you all by my side. I'm planning to go through all 78 cards, but I don't believe time is linear. Everything is happening all at the same time and we live only one vibration away from a complete new reality, and life itself doesn't present as a linear tarot journey. I am here today as a fool because I had my tower moment yesterday day. As a fool because I had my tower moment yesterday. So most likely I will narrate this story as a flow of thoughts rather than a strict succession of Major and Minor Arcana. I thank you for listening to this episode today. I catch you on the next one. Ciao for now.
