Speaker 1:

Father, I pray for everybody, under the sound of my voice, to know that you're the only choice for whatever problems they have in their life, for them to bring them to you and never think twice, no matter how big or small is the transgression, that you have the answer to every question, and for them to look to you for all the blessings. In Jesus' name, we all say amen. How's it going, family? I hope everybody's good, everybody's blessed and feeling in good spirits. Today, on Psalmist Cipher, we are going to be going over Myles Minnick. Came across a YouTube video on Myles Minnick and he was pretty much talking about how he actually got into the rap game Christian rap game. I thought his testimony on this certain radio show was pretty good. I'll drop the link to the YouTube videos down in the description for you guys to check out, but that's what we're going to talk about a little bit. We're also going to talk about a couple other rappers that I know you'll be interested in Fire Bars, fire Message, and at the end of the episode we're going to go over our episode's scripture and a devotional and I'll send y'all on your way. So let's go. So, miles Minnick all right, I've heard a couple of his songs. All right, and I think he's pretty good All right.

Speaker 1:

But what really intrigued me about this cat is that how he got started. He came from a pretty small town in California and, much like a lot of other Christian rappers, he was pretty much rapping about guns, drugs, gangs, all of that type of stuff and ended up being saved and switched it up to Christian. Actually he was talking about that. He could win this rap battle by rapping and you know rapping like a Christian right. So he went ahead and did that and somehow the sound guy messed up, the sound got cut off and he ended up rapping the next few bars without no music behind him and the crowd went nuts. And that's all great, all glory to God. That's what started his rap career right as far as him pursuing it not really his rap career.

Speaker 1:

But what intrigued me most about this interview and again it's going to be done in the show notes is how he took a step of faith. All right, he took a step of faith, all right. He took a step of faith him and his wife because they felt the calling right. He's staying in this small town. You'll have to check the video to find out what town it is, but it's a small town, I think, in the North end of California, of California, and he was going to LA doing all these shows and he had just bought a house, he's got kids, he's got a wife in his small town and he knew that moving down to LA was a big move and financially very stressful, because what he was paying mortgage on his house that he just bought was less than two times the amount that he would have paid for rent in LA. But him and his wife felt a calling over there. He would go over there and do shows and he was always over there flying over there doing shows, coming back back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, right. So I guess he went with his wife down to LA and she seen how the movement was behind them and that convinced her right. So she's like, okay, well, we don't know how this is going to work out. I'm assuming they prayed on it and took a leap of faith and as he was driving down he didn't know how this was going to work. All right, he's just heading down that way.

Speaker 1:

As he was driving down he got a call from some type of big time record producer somehow and the guy was like I've been looking for you or I've been looking for somebody like you and the rest is history, and everything took off. But he had to take that leap of faith. It's a beautiful thing, right, how God works, right? He was showing them the whole time God's over there showing them look, I got you here, I got you here. I got you here, you got everything's working out for you here, but he was staying, you know, back home. It's kind of hard to leave home Everything's. You know you got invested with your house, family, I'm assuming, right, kids in school and everything. Everything's comfortable there. But usually when God needs you somewhere, it's not in your comfort zone. It's not right. You have to step out of that. God does that purposely, almost Like you're going to trust my calling and I'm gonna make it happen because his he's glorified in that, you know, like he shines bright, like god did this for me, like I had no idea that this was gonna happen. I just knew that he wanted me here or the calling was to bring me here and it worked out for him. Miles minute. I'm happy. I'm happy for you, man. I enjoyed the whole show. Check out that show in the link in bio below.

Speaker 1:

As far as his music, all right Miles Minnick has. He's from the West Coast, so he is a West Coast type rapper. For myself, I enjoy it. I'm more of an East Coast guy, but he's got bars, he's got a good message and when I was watching the interview with him, he is a very stand-up dude, like you could tell. His character was very strong. He's strong in a word, and what you see is what you get with miles minute. As far as that interview, um, so it made me respect his music a lot more when I seen the character that's producing the content in the description down below. You know what I like to do. I like to throw spotify uh playlist.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna put two of his cuts up in there, along with two other rappers, with two cuts from them two and they are Flawless Real Talk and EGR. So EGR, he is a West Coast rapper, so their flows Miles Minnick and EGR is completely different. You're going to be able to tell that off rip. But what I found between Miles Minnick, egr and the other guy I have on there which is Flawless he's an East Coast rapper, I think he's from Providence. Flawless Real Talk is his name. These guys are very punchy with their bars, all right, very creative on how the bars, how their rhymes go together, their lyrics and all of that. And EGR and Flawless. You're going to have to give me some comments in the comment section because I know I man skills, skills, skills. Let me know what you think about these cats. If you're watching this or listening to it on YouTube, drop it in the comment section. Or I'm also very active with Facebook, so go ahead, hit me up through there. But we're also active across other platforms. I'll check them off.

Speaker 1:

But to start with EGR, this cat, he's got like a level flow that it just starts low and it gets to like almost like a peak, right, Like a aggressive. Peak is the best way I could explain it. You have to listen to it, all right, you can see where he starts and you know he'll get you. He'll get you wrapped up with. You know the creativeness of his delivery, but as he goes he gets more intense. So very talented rapper, let me know what you think of him. And flawless this guy just got bars, bars, bars, bars.

Speaker 1:

Very punchy, all right, very creative with the words and what I get from him when I listen to him. He likes to put a lot of the same. How can I put this? He'll put a lot of the same rhyming words back to back, to back to back to back. Maybe I don't know, maybe eight to ten of them in a row, and then switch to the next one and do that again and switch to the next one. I catch that a lot from him. If you see something different, put it in the comment section. But I've listened to a few of his songs and he actually just dropped a new album, so I'll also put that in there for you. So please check the show notes. There's a lot of value there. So let me know what you think.

Speaker 1:

And if you're enjoying this content, I would love for you to like, subscribe, comment, share, follow. I don't know what platform you're listening to it on, but whatever it is and whatever the prompt is, in order for you to always get the show and become a follower or subscriber. Go ahead and do that please, so like that, you know we could go ahead and uplift this show and get it to more people. Also, I want to let you know because I want to provide as much value to you as possible. All right, and this is a Christian hip hop podcast, all right, but I also want to deliver the word as the best I can right. So the best way I can do that for you is I have somebody that has a podcast that's in my church, all right. His podcast goes by the name of the Ruminator, all right.

Speaker 1:

And this brother, he has been studying and providing value from the Bible that is not opinionated. This is straight from the Bible, the truth, and he delivers it in a way where you can have a real deal Bible study with him. I'm going to link his podcast in the link in bio down below for you to check out. But he has over 500, 500 episodes of Bible study, so and they're about like an hour hour and 15 minutes. So if you really want to get some in-depth Bible study, he's got great titles. He really goes into certain aspects of the Bible. If you really want to study the Bible in a new way and get the most you can out of it, check out his link the Ruminator in my link in bio out of it. Check out his link the Ruminator and my link in bio.

Speaker 1:

And today's verse of the day is going to be from James 1, verses 2 and 3. And I'm reading from the NIV version, and it goes like consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. You know we all have troubles, all of us, whether we're Christian or not. Before you were saved, you have troubles. After you're saved, you have troubles, and even, sometimes even more, you have troubles, and even sometimes even more I think at times, that being christian definitely doesn't exclude you from having troubles, maybe sometimes even more so, because now you become a threat to the enemy. Right now you're becoming who God has created you to be Right, and the devil wants you back. When you wasn't saved, he wasn't saved Right. He had you, so it was easy for him just to step back. But once you're walking a path with Jesus, the devil is going to come for you. He wants you back. He doesn't want you there Right. So these troubles come up and I honestly don't think that God tests us the way people say oh, that's God testing me. I don't think God wants you to go through hardship, but having faith, knowing that he's going to pull you through, that is part of it, and that's yourself testing your faith.

Speaker 1:

How strong is your faith? How strong is your faith? I mean, I know times get hard and sometimes we end up buckling, we fall, but do you get back up and keep pushing forward or do you give up? Because faith is not about giving up Actually, it's very far from it, and it's okay to take a fall. But if you get up and you dust yourself and you keep on going, that's what faith is Knowing that you walk with God and you're not walking alone. That in them troubles walking alone, that in them troubles, no matter how deep or how bad it is, god will not let you fall. God will never leave you alone because at your weakest moment or at your weakest state, when you pull through and you make it through that valley, that's where his light shines the brightest. Amen to that, huh.

Speaker 1:
