Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Find your Inner Glow podcast hosted by me, kirsty Harris. I am a holistic coach and I am super passionate about helping others improve their lives by focusing on the mind, body and soul. Each week, I will be sharing my insights, experiences and advice on how to tap into your inner glow and live a more fulfilling and balanced life. So join us and let's discover how to find your inner glow together. Hello, hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of Find your Inner Glow. Today, we are going to be talking about the money mindset. This literally falls under the category of manifesting money, but I call it the money mindset because this is the mindset we need to adopt in order to live a very abundant life. And this episode I'm going to tell you all about what money mindset is. I'm going to talk to you about my story, how I've had to unlearn my relationship with money, how you can manifest money and, yeah, a bunch of other stuff as well. So grab yourself a cup of tea and let's get started. So, when we're talking about manifesting money and our money mindset, I want you to initially start with what would you do if you won the lottery? I'm going to take a pause. Pause the podcast, have a think about it. What would you do if you won the lottery? I bet your first jump was oh, I would buy a car, I would buy a house, I would buy this, da, da, da da. Or I might even just embrace in the freedom of I don't have to work anymore and I can be in my creative space. You might do that, but actually I want you to think about this moment. I give you a life-changing amount of money on a bit of paper saying here you go, here's your check. This will ultimately change your life forever. How are you feeling? You might feel a very big mixture of emotions. You might feel excited. You might feel like you're panicking. It's a big responsibility to be given that much money. Oh my God, am I overwhelmed? What am I going to do with it all? Am I greedy for having this money? You might have a whole range of emotions come up for you and this is a really important exercise. Guys, take it away, write it down. What would you do if you won the lottery? And how would you feel if you won the lottery? Okay, and explore that, because if you're starting to feel like or I feel like you know in a negative way. It's probably because you're not open to receiving money or to feeling like you're worth that money. Okay, I'm not calling any. Well, I am calling you out, honey, but it's all from love. Like, I want you to be abundant, I want you to have a life that you are happy with you to be abundant, I want you to have a life that you are happy with. Money comes to you easy and you just don't worry about money. Money is the biggest stressor in our lives. Like, it's one of the biggest stressors anyway. So explore those feelings and that's how we're going to kick off the podcast. Guys, we are just going in today.

Speaker 1:

Ok, so let's talk about what the money mindset actually is. So the money mindset if we google it this is kind of what comes up it says an abundance or money mindset is an empowering mindset that allows you to appreciate what you have and welcome new opportunities in the future. Okay, so you're like, yes, I'm in a really good space. Money comes to me easy. So when you're in this space, it's about you're. You're not striving for enough. Instead, you are content with where you are and seek to find enjoyment, purpose and meaning with your money. Okay, and we can do that now.

Speaker 1:

This second. We may have debt, we may have other things that make us feel negative about our relationship with money, but here, here, we need to go. I'm great. And one of the biggest things I want to say about this is, like, I know, bills are a nightmare, but at least you have your money to pay them. Okay, it's about being grateful that you can pay your bills and if you can't pay them this month, you know you're going to get to them next month is about being grateful, knowing that that money is coming to you, being grateful to say I'm grateful I can pay that bill. And often, what I want to say as well is that if, like think about a time in your life where you've had money given to you, like you've had a bonus at work you may have picked up 20 quid on the street, whatever it is like you've had an unexpected amount of money come to you. Yeah, well, how many times have you had an unexpected bill come in afterwards? That is the universe saying to you you do not feel worthy of this money.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and it's so hard to be in an abundant mindset right now. We have just come out the back of COVID. That was a really tricky time for money. People were losing their jobs. We are in a situation where the government are just doing whatever they're doing with the economy, which doesn't feel good. We're in a situation where the government are just doing whatever they're doing with the economy, which doesn't feel good. We're in a cost of living crisis where we're being constantly told our bills are going up. Our bills are going up, everything is going up. I constantly talk to friends who are like well, basically it's like a pay cut if we don't get paid, along with inflation, da, da, da, da. So there's a lot of negative money talk going on at the moment and you just have to distance yourself from it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, if you can still pay your bills, if you can still afford your bills and more right now in this economy, you are doing better than most. Okay. And if you're in that situation where you are struggling with money, please reach out to the Citizens Advise. Please reach out to StepChange, which is a debt charity. Step out of your comfort zone and ask for the help. If you're really struggling with money, okay, guys. But if you're in a position where you can afford to pay your bills and more, you are laughing. You are having a great time right now because, yeah, that, like I said, that's more than most. So isn't that something to be incredibly grateful for? Why? Yes, it is, kirstie, see, just be grateful for the money in your bank account. I'm telling you, every single penny that comes into your bank account, I want you to be grateful for it, because that is amazing.

Speaker 1:

You could have a penny a day, but in a year that's going to add up. Do you know what I mean? And I know, like that three quid or whatever it would be, 350, wherever, it would be like that's a free coffee. Come on, like when we got money coming into us, like everywhere. We just gotta appreciate and also appreciate the things that you have for free, like if you have a free lunch, somebody's paid for that. That's free money for you. Like, you saved that money, so what you would have spent like a fiver on your lunch.

Speaker 1:

If you get out like out, like you know, you're going to a supermarket, you grab a sandwich, whatever you've saved that money, so you're five pounds better off. Have you gone into a coffee shop and got a free coffee because you downloaded the app? Yeah, that's free money. You just had your three pound back or whatever it is that you know that coffee costs and track it. Track your money guys. Track the free money that's coming in, because you will start to feel more abundant when you see the money coming into your bank account and you're like well, kirsty, I have a salary job. How do I know that money is going to come to me? You need to have opportunities to allow money to come to you. I have multiple options where money can come to me. But even in a salary job, you can get money, and I will talk to you about this when I go through my story, which brings me perfectly onto my story.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to talk about my story and basically how I grew up poor. I did not grow up poor. Okay, did I have the most luxurious items you could ever imagine? No, I did not. But did I have food on my back? Yes, did I have food in the cupboard? Yes, did I ever really go without anything? No, but the word poor and the idea of living in poverty came from the fact that I lived in a council house and stigma attached to that, but also the relationship that my mum has with money. Don't forget everything that we learn is from our parents. They have to teach us everything because we're little sponges when we're babies and we have to take it all in.

Speaker 1:

So when it came to like my relationship with money, it was very similar to my mum's. I never have enough. I never have enough, and that's not just my mum. That's like a wider generational problem. That's a wider society problem. We constantly are told we never have enough and we need to be striving for the next thing. Nobody ever talks about actually just being happy with your nine to five. You're happy with your house, you're happy with your car and you're happy with your life. You are allowed to be happy. You don't have to constantly be striving for the next thing or the next money goal. So, yeah, just to kind of put that out there.

Speaker 1:

Also, my mum had her own relationship with money. She had her own money trauma. That's generational money trauma. Okay, when we are talking about generational trauma like this is our ancestral trauma. We are talking about this a lot in the black community at the moment and I think, if you don't know about it, you need to go research about ancestral trauma and how it affects black people, because it's about how their ancestors experience really affects them and that can affect every aspect of their life. And don't forget, we have our own ancestors, which obviously the experience is completely different. But what I'm saying is trauma. Different types of trauma can be passed down through generations. So it's important to understand your relationship with money. It's important to understand your parents relationship with money and how you have taken on those traits, and also understand your relationship with money.

Speaker 1:

Like get deep. Why do you spend money? Why do you not spend a penny on anything? Or why don't you spend any money on yourself? Are you very conscious about your spending decisions or do you do it impulsively? Get to know your relationship with money. Get to know how it feels when you spend money or when you splurge out. Do you feel guilty afterwards? It's probably because you don't feel like you deserve it, or you know that spending that money is wrong or that it's not going to help you financially in the long run, but you do it anyway. Why are you self-sabotaging? It's all of these things guys bringing. And this is what I've done. This is what I did Because I was like I really just don't want to carry on living like this, like when I was younger I had massive problems with debt.

Speaker 1:

I never got into trouble with debt, but I always had more debt than I could afford to pay back, so that ended up in loans, that ended up in this and that and da, da, da, da da. But you know, I have made some really brilliant money decisions along the way. Like I own my own place, I pay a mortgage, I, you know, I have money in my savings. I have made some good money decisions and I had to just say, right, I've made some good decisions. I've made some bad decisions, but from today I can only change. From today onwards. I can't change what I did yesterday or the last 10 years, whatever I've done with money, so I have to just let it go. And it wasn't until I went to like Brazil and Argentina.

Speaker 1:

It really hit me like so many people like, when you go to these places like Brazil, argentina maybe not so much Argentina, but when I went to Thailand and stuff. It's just that reminder that people who don't really have a lot are actually the most happiest people because they're not caught up in the material wealth and the hamster wheel of going oh I need to get this, I need to get this, I need to get this. They're just really happy with what they got. They're like oh, I got food, cool, love that for me. Really do love that. So, yeah, it's about understanding and they are grateful. How many times am I going to say grateful this podcast, I don't know, somebody keep count, let me know. But, yeah, being grateful for what they have, they lead much happier lives. You will lead a much happier life when you start appreciating what you have.

Speaker 1:

And this was like the mind, like mindset shift. Even though I went to Thailand a long time ago I've been to countries where people are in extreme poverty in comparison to the UK, but it wasn't until I went to Brazil I was like, oh god, it really hit me. It's almost like you know, when you look at something like 10, like nine times, but on the 10th time you really see it for what it is. You're like, oh, for god's sake. So this really started my mindset shift and when I got back from Brazil and Argentina, I was in such a high vibrational state. I started to be really grateful for money and then I started with my money affirmations, which we'll go through in a second. But I started with affirmations and I started being like, oh, I love money, because money loves me, everything's always working out for me financially, uh, money flows to me easily, all of this stuff. And then, yeah, I had this mind mindset shift and money started coming to me every single day.

Speaker 1:

Obviously, I had like a side hustle at the time, so money was coming in that way. But also in my salary job, I got a pay rise, I had a bonus, I had a refund from a utility company, I had a tax rebate. I had all of this stuff that wouldn't necessarily come to me, um, just like off the bat, it was just it. It was literally like boom, boom, boom, like and I'm not talking like 50 quid, I'm talking like one one payment was 500 pound, another was like six Like I had major money coming to me and I felt like I had to do a lot to maintain that level of like attracting that money.

Speaker 1:

It was a really, really hard grind to stay at that level to attract that money. So I needed to come into a more sustainable mindset where I was making things a habit in my daily life. I wasn't just going, oh, okay, um, I'm gonna do this now and dedicate an hour of meditation and this, and that it wasn't realistic and it wasn't sustainable. So I had to come into a sustainable money mindset, which is doing affirmations every day, being grateful for every penny that I have, and also like tracking the money that comes to me and all the free things, because during this time, I got free things. Don't forget, every free thing you have is money. Every discount you get is money. You need to be logging this in your phone. Being like gifted, gifted, gifted, because you are being gifted and when you start to see this money coming in, you're like wow, like oh, my God, I am abundant. This money does flow to me and it starts to build your confidence and your self-belief and your self-worth that you believe that you are worth this.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so, with all that being said, what are the main things that are going to get stuck in our way when we want to be in a money mindset? I going to call you out. I've talked about limiting beliefs before and I'm going to talk about them again. Limiting beliefs if you don't know, get to know. These are the most dangerous beliefs that we have. Why? Because they sit below the surface and they don't rear their ugly head so obviously that we can unpick them and do it. So.

Speaker 1:

Limiting beliefs are thoughts or ideas that a person holds to be true about themselves, others or the world. Don't forget, we perceive the world very differently. Each one of us perceive the world in our own very unique way, and that's shaped by our experiences, our trauma, our relationships, our dna, everything that comes together. So, yeah, it's absolutely important to know that we perceive the world totally different. That's what makes us unique, that's what makes us so special and that's why you deserve to have all this money, baby. Okay, so these limiting beliefs, like are the beliefs or ideas that people hold about other people themselves, the world, which restrict them from achieving their goals or experiencing success and happiness. So really common one. I literally just like popped into google um, what are the most common ones? So I'm not good enough, I'm not worthy, I will never be successful, I'm not attractive enough. These are things that are constantly, constantly reinforced through media, social media, da, da, da, da da. So these are really common ones to feel, but I'm going to share one which I had.

Speaker 1:

So when I first started looking at twerk after work, I was looking at the creator or the CEO, bami. She was out in Mexico and she was living there and she was just having the best time and creating content and putting it out there. And I was, oh my god, I love her life, but that would never happen for me. Um, hello, girl who said, who said it's just because I've had my confidence knocked before and I've always told myself I'm not worthy, that's ultimately it, there's no other way about it. Like there's nobody that come up to me and said you could never have that. No one has ever said that to me, it's only me. And that's me getting in my own way. And that's because of my experiences, because of trauma, because of how I feel about certain things. And then, yeah, I kind of just realized, like why am I doing this to myself? There's no reason why I can't have what Bami has. If I come up with a good enough idea, which means like I can be totally online and travel the world, then, yeah, like what's stopping me? Literally, what's stopping me? Nothing, just me.

Speaker 1:

So this is why it's really good to try and unpick our limiting beliefs and the first thing you have to do is recognize they're there. And with this I want to tell you to like get help, because it's really, really hard, unless you start questioning every negative feeling that you have and understand where you're going with it. It can be quite hard. So what I want to say to you is get a life coach. Oh wait, am I a life coach? Yes, I am. I help with limiting beliefs, but also other life coaches do therapists, counsellors get some help like talk to your friends about behaviours that you feel are self-sabotaging. Ask your friends like what do you think, like I do that gets in my own way. Ask your friends like ask you know, make sure you trust them, like these are the friends who are like, completely trustworthy. And yeah, just open that dialogue.

Speaker 1:

It's not very like nice side of ourselves to look at, but until you look at it and remove those blocks, you're not going to, you're not going to move forward, my babe, and you want to move forward because you want the money, right. So how do you change a limiting belief once you know it's there? First of all, you know it's there and then you challenge it, just like I did why can't I have that life? Who said Nobody, just me? Why, because of this belief and this belief. And then you start to reframe them. We start to rewire our brain to say no, we're undoing that and we're going to think something differently.

Speaker 1:

I like to use affirmations because it's the quickest way to rewire your brain. I've talked about this before. It is the quickest way to rewire your brain, okay, but also, don't forget, we can't just go oh, I want this. We have to take inspired action towards our goals. And what is inspired action, guys? It's doing the action when we feel inspired to do so, while we're in a higher vibration. It's just all around a lot better.

Speaker 1:

So if you wake up one morning you feel like I'm gonna do this, then do it and ultimately, like I said, seek support around it. Get it like you know what. I've had to say this so many times lately. But basically, even if you know it all, even as a holistic practitioner, I still go and get Reiki from somebody else and I still get a tarot reading from somebody else, and I still talk to my friends about things that I need to improve on. Why? Because it's like a doctor trying to diagnose themselves. Okay, you're emotionally invested, you're not having a clear picture. That's why a doctor who is sick needs to go to another GP and be like hey, what's wrong with me? We can't self-diagnose all of the time and we don't need to.

Speaker 1:

There's so much help and support out there, and what I want to say with that is find the right person for you, take advantage of any freebies that they've got, get, get together with them and have that free consultation. Push yourself out there, the the. You know there's literally no harm in acts, in asking. And what I want to say as well is when we start to change our limiting beliefs, we start to change our money mindset, we start using affirmations. You have to understand. You're not greedy. So the universe is infinite abundance. Okay, just because you put something out there, it doesn't mean somebody else is going to miss out. It just means you're brave enough to ask. You need to unlearn your previous relationship with money. To move forward, you need to be open to receive. You know, when we talked about the lottery thing at the beginning, the big reason why so many people win the lottery and blow it all is because they're not ready to receive.

Speaker 1:

Be grateful, let go of any past mistakes and take positive risks as well. Like, take positive risks with your money. That's what it's there for. If you want to invest in something, if you want to invest in yourself, do it. Obviously, explore all your options. And if you invest in something and it doesn't work out, you cannot blame me, because you need to do your own research and make sure it is a positive risk to start off with. But whatever happens is you will learn something from that positive risk. Even if it doesn't work out, you will still learn a lot. So, yeah, take positive risks with your money. And although I've done an entire episode on manifesting which you can go back and listen to I go through so many manifesting methods, things like that, that are really, really good. I would very much invest time in going back and listening to the manifestation episode.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so things about how you can manifest money is about being grateful. It's the law of attraction. What you focus on will grow. I want you to be specific. What do you want? Why and how does it make you feel? I'm about to tell you the thing that's gonna change your manifestation game like mad, don't manifest money for something, okay. So don't manifest money for a house. Don't manifest money for a car. Just manifest the car. Just manifest the house. Don't manifest the money because you're adding an extra step that you don't need to, which can prolong the money, because you're adding an extra step that you don't need to, which can prolong your manifestation, because you're like, okay, I need to manifest this money and then when that eventually comes through, then I will do this with that money. The only reason you should be manifesting money is to feel safe and secure, is to have money in your bank for a rainy day, is to be able to impulse buy holidays. Whatever the reason is is to have money there in your account. Okay, we are not manifesting money for something, we just manifest the thing. Just make it easy. Okay, just manifest the house, just manifest the car, manifest that job opportunity.

Speaker 1:

You know, like, for me, I did a really big jump from my last job like a £10,000 increase on my last job because I said, yeah, I want to earn more money, I want to earn this salary range, and that was it. And don't forget to work on your limiting beliefs. Take your inspired action and trust the process and timeline. Okay, guys, the universe does not work on our timeline as much as I beg it to. I'm like, please, universe, can you please just give it to me on my timeline? No, it has to do it in its own. So I'm going to give you an example of this.

Speaker 1:

So before Christmas, I started like getting back into the manifesting state again and I just wanted to manifest something small. If you listen to my manifestation podcast, you know that sometimes manifesting something small will help bring up your confidence. So I was there and I was like trying to manifest this cup of coffee. I put everything into manifesting a free cup of coffee and one big thing I learned was that I would walk into the coffee shop expecting something for free. So that was the wrong mindset. I had to just not go in expecting something for free, I had to just put the manifestation out there and forget about it. And when I did that, it took me three weeks. I had four free cups of coffee in a week. Literally, they were just throwing the stuff at me.

Speaker 1:

I was like, okay, so I know that this is a timeline for me. I know that I shouldn't expect it. I need to just forget about it. Send it off to the universe like a little email. Hey, universe, I would like a free cup of coffee please. Better being send it. Forget about it until the reply comes. Yeah, it's a bit like an Amazon order. You go on to do, to do, to do, place your order. You don't constantly check when it's coming, you just know that it's going to arrive and that's where you need to be. It's not about expectation, it's about knowing, okay, and also your timeline is going to be different. My timeline was different, your timeline is different.

Speaker 1:

The universe has to move things in alignment for you to be able to receive what you're asking, okay. So you just need to know that it's coming, because every time that you start to ask and then you ask again, you're restarting the process. Okay, and what I want to say to you is you're probably like well, why do you do any manifestation methods? Manifestation methods are to put me in a higher vibrational state of knowing I deserve that thing. That's why it doesn't matter how many times I write down the 369 method, how many times I look at my vision board. It's there to inspire me to feel excited, to feel happy, to feel joy and put me in a higher vibrational state. Why, when we're in a higher vibrational state, that means the manifestation comes back to us a lot quicker. We are not repeatedly asking the universe for the thing we ask it, we send it off, and then, if we're doing manifestation methods is to basically gas ourselves up and be like this is great, this is fun.

Speaker 1:

And also, you need to recognize the small steps and celebrate. If you take a step forward and you apply for that job, that is going to be that 10 grand increase. Celebrate it if you're going. You know this is putting you in the higher vibration state. When you start to appreciate the smaller things and celebrate the smaller things, you're going to bring more things to you.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, and ultimately, believe in yourself. Believe in yourself, darlings, because it's all right for me to say I believe in you, because I would believe in you if I knew who was listening to this podcast. I would believe in you, but it doesn't matter. We can all back you, but unless you back yourself, it really, really doesn't matter, because you're the only person who truly matters, and I mean that in a really nice way, like really, really nice way. So, yeah, and this is quite a short episode, this week, um, I've kind of hit you with some really big manifesting ideas and perspectives. I know I might have challenged a couple of people being like, oh, but that's a different way of looking things.

Speaker 1:

But I think the main takeaways are like you can be as abundant as you want. There's nobody stopping you, other than you Forget your you know your previous money mistakes. Forget what people have told you, forget your previous life. Unloon your relationship with money, especially if it's kind of peppered with generational trauma, like mine was. And I'm not saying that to slag my mam, I'm just saying like she had her own experiences and that's how she interpreted money and money relationship. But also she's widely influenced by what's going on in this society at the moment the panic of oh, I never have enough, I never have.

Speaker 1:

So it's about time that we own it. We own that relationship because we're adults. Where you should be an adult if you're listening to this, If you're not, you should not be listening to this. But yeah, we're all adults, we're able to do things that are really good for us. And yeah, we can own our money relationship. We can change our money relationship. We can be abundant, we can have money flow to us every day and if you're struggling with it, get a life coach, get a coach, get a therapist, get a counselor, have some Reiki just to help move that energy block around.

Speaker 1:

Money, literally, you can change so much. And don't forget like the deeper the problem or the deeper the issue, the longer time it's going to take. You're not going to do affirmations today and feel different tomorrow, you might start to feel a bit lighter. But actually, the more entrenched beliefs are, the more entrenched your behavior, your relationship is with money, the longer it's going to take to undo it. So that's going to need consistency and time, and the consistency and time that you put into this now will ultimately benefit you so much in the long run. A year from now, six months from now, you will be seeing the difference if you apply this money mindset.

Speaker 1:

And, to be honest, I don't know why I'm giving this information away for free. I obviously just want to help you. Speaker 1:
