Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a hairstylist? Surprisingly, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to your neighbor, roxy Canizales. With the Hair Chick, roxy, how are you doing today?

Hi, I'm doing great. Thank you for having me.

Of course. Well, we're excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you tell us a little bit about it?

Yes, of course. So I am a hair extension specialist here in the DFW area and I specialize in the methods of strands, which are the eye tips, tape ends and so on west.

Okay, and how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3: 0:54

I've always had a passion for beauty, so I always worn extensions as well, but I never really tried it. I tried a couple things before I actually went full on with hair. So I started doing lashes, brows until finally I tried hair and apparently I had an eye for it. I really enjoyed it and I love to see the before and after transformations. It's very satisfying.

And are there any myths or misconceptions in your industry?

There's a lot that goes into it. A lot of people say that you know, know, hair extensions can be damaging, but I feel like those are just more of a myth or they just don't go to, um, the proper stylist. Uh, but hair extensions, they're actually a very protective hairstyle. So, um, if you um go to a hairstylist and you get them installed correctly, they can actually help your hair grow so much faster, since you're not using any heating tools or any like products to make it look pretty, because it just naturally just looks really great.

And when you're not doing hair, what do you do for fun?

When I'm not doing hair right now, I like to just research on how to create more content. I like to try new foods. I'm a big foodie, so that's usually what I'm doing on my free time. Okay, any favorite places so far? There's this place in Denton called Taco H. They have, I think, the best birria tacos right now. Okay, that's pretty cool. Well, we've talked about a lot of the positives move about a year ago for personal reasons and I had to leave my whole clientele to just start from zero. So that was always. You know. That's such a huge risk. You don't know if your business is going to work the same as you know. That's such a huge risk. You don't know if your business is going to work the same as you know, in your original city. But so far, everything has worked out the way it's supposed to be and so much better than I expected.

Well, that's amazing. So can you say that that has been the biggest challenge to get through for you thus far as a hairstylist?

Speaker 3: 4:12

Yes, I think that has been like the most challenging is just, you know, starting from zero again, but it always works out in the end if you're really passionate in what you do.

Yeah, I mean, if you want to get more length and volume for your hair, you want to get more length and volume for your hair. Hair extensions are a great option.
