Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an event coordinator? Surprisingly well, maybe closer than you think, today I have the pleasure of introducing you to your neighbor, joni Kuhn, with Bella Cavalli Events. Joni, how are you today? Hey, I'm great. How are you doing? I'm great. We are so excited to learn all about you and your business Can you tell us a bit about Bella Cavalli Events.

Speaker 3:

Yes, bella Cavalli is a special place. It's an event center. But what makes Bella Cavalli special is that it's on 130 acres of private gated land that I own, and my love affair in life is with animals, so we incorporate animals into the wedding and events that we have, which makes us a little bit unique compared to the other people and venues out there.

Speaker 2:

And how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

You know, I've been showing horses all over the country for most of my life and I have two horses that I showed in the Hunger Games movie Catching Fire, and so I bought this land for training of all the horses that we were showing around the country. And this is something that I wanted to retire from, and so the wedding venue business fit what I had on the property already. I've had the horses and the carriages for the brides. We've got little alpacas to put in the ceremony or let people see and pet and take pictures with. We have beer donkeys. You can have the donkeys come to your cocktail party with beers or cocktails in the bags that they offer and it's just a cute, fun thing for wedding couples to do.

Speaker 3:

And I don't know if everybody knows, but animals are a big thing in weddings these days and it's unique and people love to incorporate these animals in their events. So it's for our side of it, it's not stressful, it's a, it's a beautiful business. We get to see the couples from the time they come, visit and book the venue all the way through their process and they're, you know, 99%. It just is a wonderful occasion and experience for both sides as a business owner and for the couples that come through here, and you know we just love it. It's a wonderful business and we are really enjoying servicing these couples.

Speaker 2:

And outside of work. What do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

You know I like to travel grandchildren little bitty grandchildren and I'm passing on what I know about animals and my love for animals to my grandchildren. And now my two and a half year old granddaughter actually works the events at Bella Cavalli with the donkeys.

Speaker 2:

Now let's go ahead and change gears for a second. Can you describe one hardship or life challenge? You rose above and can now say because of it, you're better and stronger. When I say that, what comes to mind for you?

Speaker 3:

You know, I've had some challenges in my life. I've been very blessed, but I would say maybe I had a son that died a few years ago and of course, a divorce is never easy. So those two things I had to rise above and keep going and just staying busy and positive. I find keeping your mind active and those sort of things this business has really helped keep me busy and it's a beautiful thing. So I have risen above instead of worrying about it or, you know, stressed about it. So staying busy, I think, is the key.

Speaker 2:

Wow, well, my condolences for your loss, joni. Please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about Bella Cavalli events.

Speaker 3:

I think that when you arrive at Bella Cavalli, we have six great Pyrenees dogs that work the farm and they greet you at the door and that just brings your stress level completely down for that day because you're already wound up and stressed about your event that day. So the animals that we have here, if you come, you know if you have something that's going on in the building that's not working out that day, you have a vendor that's not acting normal, you can walk outside and pet a deer, kiss on a camel, pet the dogs, and your stress level just goes away. You can walk out into the pasture, sit by the lake, see the fountain and the creek going, and all of these things help our clients with their stress levels that day. So we love the land and the privacy of this event center and it really does make it for a calming event that day.

Speaker 2:

And how can our listeners learn more about Bella Cavalli events?

Speaker 3:

We have a website and we're on the knot, but the website is wwwbellacavallieventscom and the name means beautiful horses in Italian.

Speaker 2:

That is very beautiful. Well, Joni, I really appreciate you being on the show and we wish you and your business the best.
