Hey, listen and welcome to a link to the film cast. I'm your host, David Reese, in the show where we adventure across the realms of Hyrule and the silver screen. This is the introduction episode of the podcast, episode zero, if you will. And I'm excited to start this quest with you, the listener, the listener that loves the action and adventure genre, loves the puzzle solving aspect of Zelda games or

just watching action films. Those are my favorite things and I thought I'd combine them into a unified podcast. A show talking about action movies, adventure, and the Legend of Zelda series and other video games like that. So if that's what you're looking for, you're in the right place and you're in good hands. I'm hoping to start a community, start a group of discussions.

and do a more in -depth analysis of these movies and these games. I'm a big podcast listener myself. I listen to a ton of podcasts and to create my own, I think would be very rewarding for myself and others like you out there.

for exploring these topics and kind of seeing, doing a more in -depth dive into why we like them. I don't wanna, I like consume a lot of movies. I play a lot of games and I wanna be able to think about them more critically. I wanna explore them more with, on my own and with others to see exactly what it is about these things that make it click. So this is.

Episode zero, I'm just going to talk about the format of the show, things that I plan on doing moving forward and how we'll do episodes in the future. But this is going to be a structured dive on how the show is going to run. So I want to start with.

David Ries (02:30.498)
I'll be starting episodes with listener feedback. I'll do my intro and then read any Apple reviews, Spotify reviews.

David Ries (02:46.746)
Any feedback I get, I might.

Any feedback I get on email and just to let the listener know what kind of things people are saying about the show. If there's any upcoming news relevant to our niche genre. I mean, the genre itself isn't niche, but the podcast, the overlapping of the genres is a little niche. Then I'll talk about the news and then we'll talk about the main topic.

of the day, whether it's a movie review, a study of movie analysis, like why, what

what it is that makes an action movie an action movie, what it is that makes an adventure movie an adventure movie, how they overlap with other genres like suspense, thriller. And then we'll have a question bag where you can text the link in the show notes. You should be able to send it questions and I'll receive them and answer them. They can be about Zelda, they can be movies.

life or whatever the hell you want. So this is just a great jumping off point. Just the episode zero wanted to get out there. I plan on doing this once a week, once every other week. We'll kind of get a rhythm once I actually start doing the show. I have a few episodes I'm working on already that I'm looking forward to a little bit about myself.

David Ries (04:29.612)
love films, love games. I've taken just one class in college. I took a class called Film as an Art. And it was a different film every week for the whole semester. And it was analyzing a different aspect of production. Whether it was the actors or the cinematography or the screenplay.

We'd watch a different movie each week that would kind of accentuate one of those features. And then we'd talk about it, explore what things in the film worked, didn't work. Also in high school, part -time job at a movie theater. I know a lot of people can say that it's a great high school job. I recommend any high schooler if they're looking for a first job, try your local theater. It's fun. I had a lot of friends that works there with me.

I had family. I had a sibling or two that works there with me. It was a great time. Got to see a lot of movies for free. Learn a bunch of things about the industry. I'm not an industry insider. I have a day job.

David Ries (05:46.882)
A day job that's involved in the movie industry, something totally separate and not connected. So this is purely out of an interest and a hobby standpoint. I'm not a full -time podcaster. This is something I want to do on the side, something that keep me motivated to keep exploring these, watch movies I haven't seen before, rewatch movies I haven't seen in a while that I know I love. So.

I'm excited to create that with you guys. I set up an X or a Twitter account for Zelt at Zeltafilmcast. I also am going to put a link in the show notes if you guys want to start sending questions. This is a very early episode. And then I'm hoping next Monday the 19th, I'll have my first episode out. If you'd like.

to watch the movies ahead of time. At the end of the episode, I'll mention what movie we'll be covering next time. If it's a movie, if it's a game review or just a

topic, I might not mention it.

I know there's a new Zelda game coming up next month, Echoes of Wisdom. I'll probably do an episode talking about the hype and predictions for that.

David Ries (07:14.84)
But that's something I won't have you guys watch or try to do anything ahead of time. And you don't have to watch the movies ahead of time. If you've seen the movie a gazillion times, that's fine. Or if you haven't seen the movie and you kind of want to hear about it, I'll walk through the movie, things I liked, things I didn't like, and then we'll explore from there. But.

David Ries (07:41.088)
excited to start this adventure see what podcasting myself is like I know it's gonna be a rough start no podcaster gets it right on their first try unless they have like professional training and they've done this before and then that wouldn't be really be their first try would it so I'm gonna start letting it rip do some recordings and we'll go from there

First movie that I'm gonna cover next week on August 19th, 2024, in case this goes multi -year, I hope it goes multi -year, is gonna be Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, 1984. Great animated feature, little girl named Nausicaa who goes on an adventure, actions involved, some storytelling.

David Ries (08:41.548)
It'll be a great time. Well, until then, I'm excited to start this journey and we'll go from there. I'll think of a tagline. I don't want it to be something like, the Triforce be with you or hey, listen, okay, bye. We'll see. Okay.

David Ries (09:07.704)
Thanks.
