I had a special guest on the podcast (and OR table) today, a dear friend and physician. She talked about her go to karaoke song and that one time she diagnosed her own appendicitis in the ER. In summary, she’s a bada$$.
Today’s episode hit close to home for me. We talked about how two people can have different truths and that neither of them are wrong. We talked about love and loss; of letting go; and of the higher vibrations of forgiveness when compared to seeking justice. And ultimately we shared that to love someone may be as simple as just wanting the very best for them. 🥲❤️
In this episode of The Labiaplasty Dialogues we talked about what it was like for her to be a teen mom, the importance of spending time with someone you love, and having the courage to change your body for the better. I also snuck in my very basic Spanish for extra credit.
Today's patient is from Arkansas. She was diagnosed with PCOS and has been self-conscious of labia since puberty. Dr Oppenheimer puts her at ease; they talk about celebrity lookalikes, ice cream, fantasy books, reality TV, Drake and more.
Today, Dr. Oppenheimer worked with a Gen Z patient and enjoyed a humorous conversation about Love Island, lucid dreams, and ghosts. Although the initial numbing injections caused a bit of discomfort, the patient handled it like a champ. They shared laughs over the quirks of different generations and even imagined what they’d do if called to serve in World War 3. Another smooth and successful labiaplasty is in the books!
This conversation begins in medias res, right after I complete a minor belly button revision and start the labiaplasty. My patient, a nurse and mother, has flown cross-country to Florida to see me for this procedure. We discuss cultural foods, motherhood, working in the medical field, and more.
Today’s Labiaplasty patient is a Mom who discovered me on Snapchat a few years ago. We talk about the history of anesthesia and how the first local anesthesia was actually cocaine. Luckily, the medical field has come a long way. Thanks to modern medicine, todays patient had a successful Labiaplasty with minimal pain.
In this episode I distract my patient by making her laugh through the pain. We discuss her varied career, from sewing custom jeans for celebrities in LA to diagnosing patients with autism and dementia. We also talk about our childhoods, families, and interests. Plus I share why labiaplasty is my favorite procedure and how it became my specialty.
In this episode of The Labiaplasty Dialogues, we chat with a 23 year old Orlando native during her awake labiaplasty surgery. I discuss my shattered dreams of becoming a dentist, my desert island medications, and our favorite holidays (before we got cut off from technical difficulties).
Welcome to the first episode of the Labiaplasty Dialogues! I'm your host, Dr. Opp. In this inaugural episode, we record our conversation live during this 31-year-old mom's wide awake labiaplasty surgery. From start to finish you can hear her reactions to the local anesthesia injections, her reasons for pursuing a labiaplasty surgery, and everything in between.
