Hello and welcome back to Social Hour. Did you just hear a phone ringing?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

No.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. Sorry. Hello and welcome back to Social Hour. I'm Megan

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And I'm Sarah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

and this is our first official episode. So how was your week? What have you been doing? What's your mental state like?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Let's see. My week was like, it wasn't amazing, but it wasn't like awful. Just still working at my. child development center job and it's a paycheck, but I've also been getting sent home early so many days. So like, that's awesome. And it like gives me time to like mentally focus and work on other things too. So that's been nice. And the holiday, a holiday today we're filming on the 4th of July. So happy 4th of July. Um,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

11 days later for them.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah. Um, but yeah, it was a good week. My mental states. Ooh, we should do like a rating scale of like our mental state.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Like, what's our, like, one to ten or

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Like 1 to 10, just like based off of like mental energy and like go get them attitude. You know what I mean?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, but we should also, like, maybe on our downtime, think of, like, a fun scale. Like, zero is, like, whatever, and then ten is, like, some, you know.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah. We'll like definitely think about it like way more in depth and then we can put like a whole like rating scale and then like, Choose exactly like how we feel, you know,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that would be fun.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

would be best

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay, so what, if you had to rate your one to ten, or zero to ten?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Um, I'd say my week was probably about a six. Can't

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, okay. That was not bad.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

no, about you?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. I would say, overall, I think my week is maybe, like, Uh, a five, but that's only because I'm in panic mode because I'm literally moving in like 11 days. And I, I just, for some reason I saved everything I needed to do until the last two weeks, including appointments. Yeah. Sounds about right. Right. Including all appointments, doctor's appointments, whatever, um, vision appointment, uh, I have had expired tags for a couple months. I finally got those done yesterday. Um, and just everything. It's like everything, of course, just waits till the last minute, so I have not that much time left and a lot to do in that amount of time, so I've been going back and forth between, like, pure panic and, like, Not thinking about trying just trying not to think about it at all. So I'm just like distraction

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

so that's been kind of but I feel like I've been kind of I'm sure we'll get into this on a later episode, but I Recently got diagnosed with ADHD and you most likely have ADHD. You're kind of in the process of Right. Like you, you like 99 percent sure have it too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

oh, yeah, I've been like it's Confusing like I was like previously diagnosed with it, but like I just need to do the whole testing again So

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. So, but ever since I kind of realized that it actually has helped a lot because I've been using all these tools to like, try to help myself. So I've been kind of learning how my brain works, which is really crazy to start to figure this out at 31. But I've been actually using and implementing tactics that I've found have helped me. So I think. This next two weeks would be ten times crazier if I didn't realize, like, the tools that I actually need to help me. So,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

oh, yeah for sure

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

maybe I'll raise mine to a 6 2 then, because I feel like, It's a lot better than it used to be before I realized, you know,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, and I mean if I was like, not that like I'm you, so like I couldn't rate your week, but I feel like if I was to rate your week from like an outside perspective, I'd say your week was probably like a 7 or 8, outside of the fact that like, you're like moving and whatnot because like, You had so many appointments this week that you were like, on top

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, yes,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

like, you've been walking, you've been like, you've really been like, on top of your stuff I feel like lately, but you're right I totally forgot about, haha, you're leaving, and then it's like, oh, Luna's coming in like a week and a half, like, shit.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

luna, my cat will be coming to you when I leave Um, but yeah, I actually forgot about all that I remember calling you the other day and saying i've never felt like i've been adulting better in my whole life than I do

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, and I panicked because I felt like the complete opposite.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Because I made all my okay You This was an ADHD thing that I did not realize, but making appointments was like the hardest thing I could ever do in my whole life. I would wait, I would wait like, I would have a cavity and I would wait nine months to make my appointment. And it hurt, like, it was just impossible for me to make an appointment. So the fact that I did actually make all of these appointments, and I've been going to them, and I'm finishing what I need to finish, is crazy. So you're right. This has been, it's been very stressful, but I've been doing a lot that I always forget. You always forget how much you've actually done

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

hmm. Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

hard on yourself to try to, you should be doing more and all this stuff. But

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

you definitely need to give yourself credit for more than what you think you've been doing.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

well, thank you. That's true. Okay. So what about our focuses for the next week? So what do you want to work on or what's going to be your main focus?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Next week is my last, well I have next week and the week after until Luna comes, right?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. So, currently, side note, I always go on tangents, but like, My whole, and I can get into this later on, but like, my whole schooling thing, I didn't like, officially graduate until like, last, like, Thursday or something like that. And so, and

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Even though you graduated, like,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

walked, and Yeah, and like, did all of that. I just

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I feel like a lot of people can probably relate to having one failed class or something that you had to retake to get your degree.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, and,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

totally normal, and that almost happened to me too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Exactly. And so, I like, that was really weighing on my mind for like this whole year and whatnot. So I got that done. The house is like almost done. Like our end goal for that was like Luna coming. So, um, Like, I'm done with school. I just need to focus on, like, my job right now, my health, the podcast, and then, like, Luna coming. So, if I have to pick, like, something for the next week, it's probably gonna be, like, the house that I'm just gonna, like, need to focus on. So, like, maybe house and job.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, so just focusing on basically finishing enough of the house that you feel ready for

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, for Luna to, like, get here and not have so much anxiety. Because, you know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I'll insert a photo of Luna here so that everybody can see how cute she

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Luna girl.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay, so my focus for the next week, well, I mean, I don't really have a choice. My focus is just getting ready to move. That pretty much consumes everything. So my focus is, oh my goodness. I can't believe I didn't mention the fact, like my business in my intro about myself. How did I not include

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, that? was like one of my questions for later.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

okay. We'll save that for later. Um, so basically just getting ready to move. I don't know if I mentioned this to people, but I am basically doing a road trip for like a year and Which I'm just saying that because I'm only taking with me what I can fit in my car. So I'm downsizing a lot, and I have not done that yet. So I have like

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

You're like, exposing all my questions that I was gonna ask you.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

oh, no. Okay. Well, okay. I won't elaborate then. I'll just say that's my focus for the next week is getting ready to move

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

and I'll leave it at that and we can get more into it during the questions. But okay. So, um, can you hear Luna's food thing going?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It's dinner time, Luna.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

It's Luna's dinner time. She just ran from the bed and sprinted to go get her food.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yes, typical her and the reason you The, why is the food in the living room? Like, why can't it just be in another room? Cause that's kind of annoying, right?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Luna is like a little princess, like she's the center of attention. She's my only child cat, by

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Only child syndrome.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, she's my only child cat and she can't eat alone. So I had her food in her own room and she would meow at me until I went and sat in there with her to eat. So I moved her food out into the living room so that she could eat with me.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And now she actually goes and eats her food every time. She doesn't like. She used to hear the food and get excited, but then not want to go in there by herself and eat it,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And she would like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

eat the food.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

meow and Megan would like think she was still hungry and so she'd go in there and be like, Bro, you still have food in there and then

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I thought she was begging for food, but she was really just wanting me to sit in there with her. So I moved it into the living room. Um, it's actually funny because I had it really close to the couch and I could smell it. I have like a very sensitive sense of smell. And I could smell the food. And it's just like dry food. And I'll get into that. But um, I could smell it and so I had to move it farther away. But the reason she's on dry food and the reason she's on a schedule is because we're going to be in the process of switching her to wet food. She hates wet food. Like I know wet food is best for cats and they like really should be eating wet food, um, according to the vet. But She hates it. She won't eat it. So, I'm training her to be on a schedule. She eats this many times a day at this time because that's the first step to starting to transition them to wet food. I mean, that's a whole cat rant. But

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

anyway, the

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

we love our

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

off set us off on a whole tangent. But I was going to ask you what your recs are for this week.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. So my, I have two recs for this week. Um, forgot the second one, but we'll start with the first. So the first one is, um, We live in Michigan or we're in Michigan right now. And there's this restaurant called First Watch and it's so good. And they have the best iced coffee there. And I got a DoorDash the other day and it was like fresh mint leaves and then like chocolate with like their iced coffee. And I was drinking it and I'm like, Wow, this really tastes like something. And I'm like, ooh, a nice peppermint mocha. But like, my big thing recently is just being all like healthy, whole food, like fresh things as possible. And so like, now I'm making that drink at home and it slaps. It's so good.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

So, is your rec the concept of putting fresh mint leaves in your coffee?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yes.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, okay.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And like making like that fresh, like bougie, like coffee.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And I feel like I could

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

mint in my coffee, but

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

you. couldn't?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

No.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, I could. It's so good.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, but I know that a lot of people would probably like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, yeah. And I feel like you could even like put that stuff in your water too.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Ugh, yeah, you really like your, your flavored water. You like your cucumber water

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

gosh, it's so good. Cucumber water.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I'm not, I'm not a fan. Oh,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

iced coffee are my one rec. And then, um, I would probably say my other. Oh, I know what my other rec was. My other recommendation for this week is something I previously bought, I'd say, probably less than a month ago, and it's the Aura Ring, and I don't know if you can see it there,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, we can see it.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

but, um, yeah, it was definitely a splurge, but, like, I've been seeing Like I said in the first video, and I'm gonna be saying it a lot, like, my health is one thing that's really important to me. I'm, don't weigh as much as I want to weigh, and I just want to feel healthier and like energized and whatnot throughout the day, so.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I feel like that's a really good example of how we are like opposites, but the same person, because we both have like a really big want to just be healthy, you know, just be healthy, but like you struggled to gain weight and I struggled to lose weight. Which I think is a funny thing. Like we're literally opposites on everything, but we have the

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

up.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

but we have the same like mentality or this, you know, you know what I mean?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. No, I, I know

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

It's like we have the same reasoning behind things, but then we have the opposite thing of everything.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Like, we can never be doing the same freaking thing. It's always like the same thing, but totally different. Right.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, but I feel like that's also a good thing because I always think that your strengths are my weaknesses and like my weaknesses are your strengths or like vice versa or whatever.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I meant to say that in, like, the intro video of, like, we compliment each other with, like, our strengths and weaknesses.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And even our own weaknesses for ourselves, we can help each other with. So neither of us are very good at making to do lists and prioritizing things and getting things done. But if

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

doing them.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

and actually doing them, but if we call the other person and we're like, okay, I have these three things I wanted to do today. Which one do you think I should do first? What, like, and what should I do? Like, I'm so stuck. I'm overwhelmed. I'm paralyzed right now. Like, what do I do? And the other person will be like, Okay, first of all, take this one off the list. You don't even need to do that today. And second of all, I think you should do this one because this, this, and this. And this is what you should break it into these steps and whatever. It's so easy to organize that for someone else. But not for yourself, but we do that for each other.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, we do it a lot like unintentionally too.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Um, okay. So what was your second record again?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

My ora ring.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, okay. Yeah. So I meant to ask you, I saw you when you first got the aura ring, but we never caught up about it after that. So like, how has it been? What's the most, like, what's the feature that you're most excited about or that it's helping you with?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So I mean for those who don't know about the ora ring,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I can't hear you.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

oh my bad. It is a ring that, um, kind of is similar to the Apple watch in the sense of it like tracks your health stuff and whatnot, but it's kind of like way more in depth and just. Like I need my Apple watch working at my center because like I need that on the daily and this doesn't last a day and overnight. So this battery last, um, for like five to seven days, it'll track, um, a few things that I struggle with, um, is I've been having really bad periods just in like the past few years and they've never been like that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you really have been,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So, it'll, like, that's one thing that I've been struggling with, um, so, like, the Ourobing, it tracks your, there's a way to kind of do, like, a birth control on there with the app called Natural Cycles. So, I've been really learning about that and getting more in tune with, like, my cycle and all of that. So, yeah. And this like takes your temperature and whatnot. So like the longer you wear it, the more it acclimates with your body and like knows you. And so like, that's like an amazing thing with where I work. I am so stressed, stressed out to the max because I feel like It's just a lot there. And so, I wanted to get the ring before I move jobs to like, track my stress levels just to see where I'm at and like, what I would go down to like, once I leave where I'm at. And so, that's another interesting thing. And then I feel like there was one more. Oh, my sleep. It

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I was just going to say, what about your sleep? How's that been?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It tracks your sleep and it'll like, um, it tells you so many things. Like I could, there's an app on your phone and it'll tell you like the latency of like when you like decide you want to go to sleep and how long it actually takes you to fall asleep. It'll show like your REM, your, um, just like all of these things. And it, it's really good at differentiating to like when you're just laying down in versus like when you actually go to sleep and just. All of these different things. So like, It's It's been really interesting to track and I've kind of like slowed down a little bit. Like I used to be really obsessive and just like looking at it constantly, like on the regular, but I've gotten into a good schedule of just like tracking my period and cause I just had my first one with the ring. So, um, Now it's kind of getting more in sync to that and yeah, I'm just excited to see like my history over like a longer period of time. So,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that'll be really fun to see your patterns and everything. I love stuff that tracks you like

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

no, I need the data for

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I'm so competitive. Like I need to see it and I need like bar graphs and stuff and when I can see that I'm like beating myself from yesterday, well I do mine, I can't wear like, I don't do jewelry or anything like

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Another difference between us like I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that's a huge difference. Oh, the The thought of having earrings in my ears like makes me cringe. We both have like, we both have a lot of sensory issues but those aren't even the same. Those are opposite. ones that you have that I don't have and vice versa too, which is funny. But what was I gonna say? I was gonna say something about Your or a ring

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

or the tracking. So the tracking is so helpful because I use like Nike run club to track my, I don't run, but I do walks every day now and I use it to track that. And I'm always wanting to beat my mileage from the day before or beat my pace. I tried to do one or the other. And I also look at my steps on my. Like Apple heart, what's it called? There's like a heart. There's an app.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

health app.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. The health app, it'll tell you your steps. And so I always try to beat that. And I just love seeing all the charts and the data and I'm very competitive. So I like to get competitive with myself, which is good because it helps you meet your goals too. Like you want to walk more.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

right. And I feel like, okay, so you're going to have to help me with this. I have such a difficult time explaining how I feel. Right?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yes.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So, with the Aura Ring and being able to go and look at literally all of just like, like it gets your heart rate and this and that and blah, blah, blah, like I can go look at the app and be like, yeah. That's how I feel like that's how I thought I felt, but like it just reassures like how I feel or like if I like I feel off one day or whatever I can go through look at my data and see like if there's a anything that's like flagged or whatever that like it's like, Whoa, you need to focus on this or whatever. And it'll

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

like, Oh, it's not just in my head. It's actually something, it's actually my body. That's. Making me feel this way, you know, something physical too. It's not just your imagination.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mhm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But yeah, the the struggling with your um, About what you're feeling or how to like explain things or whatever. I think that's something we balance each other out really well with too because sometimes you'll you'll try to put something into words and I'll Just explain everything you're thinking right back to you.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

my college essays, I would like be in my room and just like brainstorming and getting everything like kind of jotted down so I could like spew it to Megan and then she'd be like, okay, I think you're trying to say blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'd be like typing on my keyboard.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Literally. And it's not even like, it's not even that you couldn't think of the topic. You had so much to say. But you just couldn't put it into succinct words and stuff like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So difficult.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Which is so funny because we do that for each other. Yeah, but okay. So my recs we got off on a little bit of a tangent, but my first rec is going to be a podcast because this is the podcast that has helped me probably more than any other podcast. And it's also the one that made me call you and tell you that we needed to start a podcast. And it's

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I love this one.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, it's called Your ADHD Besties, and it's these two women from Australia, and they both have diagnosed ADHD, and they are what inspired me to go get my own diagnosis because I was like, wow, this is my life. Everything made so much sense. I feel like I was always very confused about, I felt very contradictory, like I was a successful person, but I felt so chaotic in my head and I could do certain things when I was interested in them and hyper focus on them, but some things I just literally could not make myself do. And I was so confused because I was like, I thought I was a productive person, but I'm not because I couldn't do this. And I thought I was this, but I'm not. And as soon as it clicked in my head, I just realized so much about myself. It was crazy. And their podcast is so warm and welcoming and they're really funny. And their accents are really like fun to

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I love them.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I think that helps my brain focus even more because I'm just like listening to their accents and they're talking with each other.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It gives you something to like, focus in on.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, and I really related to one of them, specifically two, they were talking with each other and their dynamic was so fun and they were just like best friends and it really Reminded me of me and you and I was like, this is fun to listen to and so that's what made me want to make a podcast with you and I feel like Even if you don't necessarily have ADHD, but you struggle with certain things, like, they talk about so many topics from, what do they talk about, like, um, burnout, being in burnout, or having, like, sensory issues, or like, what,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Things about relationships.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, things about relationships and maybe struggling with certain parts of it, or just everything. They even talk about the fact that people with ADHD often have trouble putting their feelings into words

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you do.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

You had me listen to the first couple episodes and I'm like, Dang! Like, just like the weirdest details, like, that I just like can't explain about myself. They were just like pinpointing and I'm like, wow, that's crazy.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

The, we, the most random stuff. And I was like, it's, it's the kind of thing where you're scrolling on TikTok and someone says the most random experience, but you had like, that's like, Oh, I do that. And you're, you can't believe that someone else does that too. And it's just so validating the fact that you're not alone. Like other people are like that too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

For sure. Oh,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

podcast is one of them. Um, the other rec that I had was For some reason, my brain has been really wired lately when I'm trying to sleep. Like, I've been having trouble actually falling asleep, which usually I don't, because I'm not, this is another difference between us, I'm not a bed person. Like, I don't like to lay in my bed if I'm not sleeping. But you're a bed person. Like, you hang out in your bed. Like, you watch TV in your bed. You do whatever. I don't even have a TV in my room, like I never have. Except for when I was a kid, but, um, I'm a couch person and you're a bad person. But what was I even just talking about?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I was like, Oh, I'm having trouble sleeping, falling asleep and stuff like that. So I got an old app that I used to have called insight timer. And. I used to have it for meditation, which they do have a lot of meditations on there, but they have a whole section for sleep. And so you can pick whatever you want and there's sleep music, there's sleep soundscapes, sleep just like sounds like rain or white noise or whatever. But I've been listening to the sleep music and there's something about it that just like hypnotizes me right to sleep within 10 minutes. It's crazy. I've done this three nights in a row. It's just the most relaxing, just like, obviously there's no words or instruments or, or anything. It's just very like relaxing flowing sounds that just like lure you into sleep and it's really cool.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I feel like I've definitely used that app before. Or maybe the Calm app is what I've used.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I got both and I tried the calm app and I don't know what it was about it, but I just didn't really like it. I don't know, I didn't really like that one. But I do really like Insight Timer. I think Insight Timer just feels more simplified. It's like very simple. Calm was kind of overwhelming because they have celebrities in there reading stuff, and it was just too much.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

There's a lot.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, very simple, very straightforward, and so, yeah, we'll link, we'll link all of our recs, too, in the show notes so that you guys can check them out. Don't have to write them down. And also I feel like we should link this blanket because we both have matching blankets and

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Ooh, I got

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

the best blanket you really did. And I was not a believer. I was like, I'm not going to like that blanket. I was kind of a hater just because the texture of it looks so weird. I was like, I don't know if I'm going to like that blanket. As soon as I got one, this blanket is coming with me on my year of travel because I just can't give it up.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

with me. It's going to be my safety blanket.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, her security

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

and I'm also bringing my pillow. Oh my gosh. I have, did, did I ever show you my pillow? It's like a cube pillow.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I'm bringing that with me too. I showed my mom and she thought I was crazy.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Why?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

cube pillow? Like how do you sleep on a cube? How do you put your head down on a cube? And I'm like, no, you don't get it. It's perfect.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

The distance between your shoulder and your ear is just always perfectly the right size. I struggled with pillows. Like, even if it's fluffy enough and then they get too flat and you have to fluff it again. If it's too fluffy, it hurts your neck. If it's too flat, it hurts your neck.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I'm kind of struggling with my pillows right now. I don't know that I like the one that I got for my birthday.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you got a really fancy one.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, it's,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Maybe you should try the cute pillow.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, maybe.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

It's always perfect too because it's like memory foam, so it doesn't squish too far.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I'll have to look into that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And they have different, they have different inches like tall or whatever for different. I don't know neck heights for different people, but oh my God, so good. I guess that's like three recs then that I did cause that pillow is just so good.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. We should get into it.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And the blankets.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I know. And the blankets too. So that's three for me and two for you. So we got a lot of links in there today, but

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, for sure.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

that's okay. It's our first episode. So we wanted to just tell you guys all of our favorite things right now.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I know, we had too many to choose from.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But we wanted to get into the main part of this episode, which is just kind of like an icebreaker game. So we're going to ask each other questions. Well, Sarah has a lot more questions than I, I only really have one question because I had a story to tell you. And then it made me think of a question to ask you. Um, and then you had a lot of questions, but we wanted to kind of ask each other these questions so you guys can get to know us a little bit better and, you know, get to know our dynamic or whatever. So

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like kind of like an icebreaker thing.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like, yeah, just a fun little game. So do you want me to tell you, um, my questions since you have so many, I'll just do mine and then you can do all yours. Okay, so, Um, sometimes Luna is really cute in the morning and she likes to cuddle and so she was being so cute the other morning and I was like laying down and she like cuddled up all in my face and she was just like laying so cute and I was just looking at her little face and I was just looking at her little just she's so cute. I was getting like really bad cuteness aggression and I was like you're so perfect. You're so cute. And then I just burst out in tears. Because I'm leaving her. I was like, oh my god, how am I leaving you? Like, you're so cute, I'm literally leaving you for a year. And I, I was just gonna miss her so much, I burst out in tears.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, that's sad.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And I like, don't cry, really a lot. Um, so, and also just to clarify, in case people skipped the intro part or something, I'm not actually like, leaving her. I'm leaving her with Sarah and my dad. While I'm gone. on my year of travel. I'm not getting rid of her. I'm going to get her back after the year, but a year is a long time, you know?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

No, it really is.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay, so my follow up question to that was, I was like, Oh my God, I hate crying. Like I wanted to stop immediately. And I was like, I don't know what it is about me, but I have a really weird thing where like, I do not want to cry. I do everything I can to like, not cry. So I was going to ask you how you feel about crying, like, because I think a lot of people don't mind it because it lets them get their emotions out and they're like, yeah, I just need a good cry. And I'm like, I have never felt that way.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I need to cry and sometimes I just can't

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

what?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

like I feel like sometimes I just have like oh Like I feel like I really just need to cry and like I just can't and then it's just like I need the straw that breaks the camel's back for me to fuckin like unle ooh. For me to like, unleash. And then like, I don't know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh my God. I don't think I've ever had that where like I needed to cry, but I couldn't.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, actually, maybe I've never had the thought that I need to cry.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I don't know, maybe that might be weird.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't know. It's just, I'm in a lot of book groups because I really like reading and there's a lot of people, like a lot of people that will say they want the saddest book that you can give them. They're like, give me a book that's going to shatter my soul. Give me a book that's going to make me sob for hours

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay, no.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

that part I don't understand or people like when movies do that or whatever and they're like, I just need a good cry. I want a book that's going to like destroy me. I'm like. Why? Why would you want that? Like, I read and watch movies for entertainment, to be happy, to like, relax, to not have real world troubles, like to,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

No,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

don't want to cry.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I completely agree. Like, I'm not gonna like watch like a willingly like sad movie if I know it's like super sad, like, um, Ooh, another little wreck that I'm going to throw in here that I think it could be from like the both of us is the TV show called a million little things.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Come on, this is the worst example you could have given because I don't even recommend this show to people because it made me cry so bad for like, a long

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

okay, no, maybe you're right, but like, that show was so good. If you wanna cry, if you are one of those people, watch

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, that's why it makes you cry so much because it's really, really, really good show. It's very well done, but part of the show, don't give any spoilers, but like part of the show destroyed me more

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Fuck you up.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I think, destroyed me more than any other book or show or movie I've ever seen in my life. I was like bawling my eyes out for Like days in a row and then probably weeks after I would think about it and start crying.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

But, I agree, I look for, like, books and movies and whatnot for, like, an escape. Like, I wanna get that, like, butterfly, like, super happy feeling. Because, like, sometimes in your life, like, you don't have, like, that Good happy likeness like all the time So it's like I don't know and especially the past four or five years I've had so much shit happen to me and it's just It's just been so draining so it's like I need that that good like escape,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And you're like a show re watcher too. You re watch your shows a lot, I think, right?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I feel like I haven't been doing that as much recently because it's just like I'm so bored of things and like, I don't know and that's what's also been like pushing me to like not watch TV as much just because there's like nothing out there

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, speaking of not watching TV, I, I got rid of my TV today.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Did you? What'd you do? Put it in the dumpster?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I put it by the, so it's like very old. I think this is from 2012, probably

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

very old TV. It still works, but I didn't feel as guilty putting it by the dumpster. Cause I was like, this is an insanely old TV and I'm pretty sure it doesn't, it doesn't work very well anymore. And the fact that it's a smart TV, but it won't really connect to wifi. I think. I kept buying new Amazon sticks or whatever.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And it was your TV that was frying them?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I'm pretty sure it was just my TV. That was the problem. And I kept thinking it was the fire sticks and I kept buying new ones, but I think it was the TV. So anyways, I put a little post on it that said free. It works. It's just old. And guess what? Someone took it within two hours. I was so excited. Yeah. I checked the weather forecast to make sure it wasn't going to rain. And I put it out there because I had a feeling someone would probably take it because it was a nice big TV. It was just really old and it doesn't really work well anymore for the Wi Fi aspect at least. So, yeah, that was cool.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, look at that. Your trash is somebody's treasure.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

but wait, so when you do start crying, Do you just let it out or does it bother you? Like, I don't

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

it. doesn't bother me. It's like a release. I don't know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Wow. I wish I could feel that way. Cause I think that's a healthy way to

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

But I also, like, can't look at myself when I'm crying.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah. Why would you look at yourself?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

know. Like, some people, like, freaking videotape themselves. Like, do you not, like, see all those people, like, on TikTok that, like, post super, like, that's weird to me. Like, good for them, like, if they're doing that. But, like, I, I don't know. Like, I don't

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I barely cry alone. I wouldn't cry and then show people,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

but I don't like, I really don't like crying in front of other

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Neither do I, That makes me feel like so weak.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I try my best not, not to ever cry in front of anybody pretty much. Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Okay.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

curious.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So should we move on to my questions now?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Go for it.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. It's so funny. I feel like so many of my questions have like already like been like tapped into a little bit. No, it's fine. It'll like deepen the conversation. Okay. Let me pull up my notes. Okay. What should I start with first? Okay. We'll start with this one first. So Are you more of a book person or a movie slash tv person? Like, what's your thing?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

well, hmm, that's hard because I think I do books and TV shows evenly. I'm definitely not a movie person. Um, but I do really love binging a TV show like a lot, but I also love reading. Like if I had to pick for the rest of my life, if I could only watch TV shows or if I could only read books, wait, that's actually really hard. I was going to say obviously I would read books, but there's so many like amazing shows out there and you can rewatch

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That's wild. I thought you would have chosen books in a heartbeat.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

well, I was going to, but then I think of all my favorite shows and how much I love the characters. And it's just different being able to see it because when I read, I don't have that thing where I can picture it in my head like people do. So I don't picture the characters. I don't picture

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Neither do I really.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I just kind of read it. Um, so I think the, the TV shows, I really need to, to like, bring it to life for me. Ooh, that's hard. I think I would actually have to pick TV shows, even though I love reading so much.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That's wild. That's so wild to me. I mean, I would definitely be a TV person. I like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

or movies, because you do watch a lot of movies too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't know, I'd honestly probably say like TV person.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

like, my, my attention span isn't, like, all that there anymore, like, I can't just, like, sit down and watch hours and hours of, like, TV anymore, or, like, movies, I, like, need, like, the break of, like, going to, like, the next episode, and, like, having that as a break, and, I don't know, cause I also find myself now, the more I'm getting into, like, more hobbies at home, I'm not sitting down and watching TV until later at night. So it's more just like going to bed shows, but yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Wow. That's interesting. Okay. Next question. Um, we'll backtrack to pets. This is like kind of a one, two, three parter., Are you a dog or a cat person?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

a cat person, which I didn't know until I got Luna. I would have said I was a dog person my whole entire life until I got a cat.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. Part two is Were you nervous to get her?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

the story? Like, how did you get her? when when did you decide that, like, you wanted her and what were the reasons?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay. Well, so I got Luna in 2020 and it was probably like five months into quarantine. Um, and obviously that was like a really hard time. And I, I love pets. I always wanted a pet. I had never had a cat before, but I knew that cats were more low maintenance and I worked really long hours and I worked a lot of night shifts and I just really couldn't have a dog. Um, but I really wanted a pet and I debated it for a long time. I literally remember making a pros and cons list. Do you remember that? I think I shared it with you with Luna and the cons were scratching furniture and stuff like that. And she doesn't even do any of that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

She doesn't do any of the cons. She's such a good cat, but

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

lucky.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I was very nervous because I had never had a cat before and I'm really bad at making commitments. Like, I don't like committing to anything. I, and I knew that's obviously a very long term commitment. So I thought about it for a long time before I finally took the plunge, but because I was interested in it, I was kind of lurking on Facebook groups and stuff for cats and rescues and things like that. And I saw a Facebook picture of this gray cat that was so cute. And the Facebook post said this cat was found, I think, under a dumpster. with a litter of kittens, and so she had just had a litter of kittens under the dumpster, and she was probably about two years old, and the kittens got adopted so quickly, obviously. Everybody wanted the kittens, but Luna was the mom cat, and nobody wanted the mom. Like, nobody wanted to

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

forgot about that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, nobody wanted to adopt the older cat, everybody just wanted the kittens, and I didn't really want a kitten before, I didn't really want a kitten, I wanted an adult cat that I didn't have to like, you know, deal with that kitten phase, um. But yeah, so I saw that and I was like, Oh, nobody wants the mom cat. Like I want the mom cat. And so I went to her foster mom's like house to meet her. And this foster mom had, I think, 10 cats. And when the, when I opened the door and went in there, All the cats ran except Luna. Luna was so social. She was so friendly. She came right up to me and was rubbing on me and was meowing and she was so friendly and so cute. And I was not planning on going home with her that day. And the foster mom was like, Oh, do you want to just do a one day trial and take her for the night and see how it goes? And then obviously I took her and then never went back.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And so she was mine. And now I would definitely say, Oh my God, I'm such a cat person. Even just getting her now, when I see other people's cats or I go to their house and they have a cat, I love the cat so much more than before I had my own.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And I love cat videos now and like

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

you're such a cat person through and through now.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I know.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And my last part to that question is how is she affected like your mental health? And like especially throughout like quarantine.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that's an interesting question. I think she just, obviously pets are very good for your mental health in general, you know, and she's solo maintenance and cats in general are solo maintenance and especially her. She never has any issues really. She doesn't, you know, she's so clean. She doesn't ever have any accidents or scratching furniture or anything that like most cats have. So she's just very chill. And I would say. Yeah, she's just my little buddy. She definitely helps my mental health. Um,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

supported you, especially in the beginning when you first got her.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

what do you mean? Like, do you remember something I don't remember? Because I don't, I'm having a trouble remembering that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't know, you were just alone. You were alone for, like, the whole part of quarantine, and it was just, like, nerve wracking, and, like, I just remember you being so nervous to get her, and you're like, Uh, the the huge commitment thing, like, I didn't, I don't know, but I feel like she's, I don't know, made you, like, less lonely. Not that you were lonely, you know what I mean? But she's helped you as, like, an introvert

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that's true. Like, do you count, like, if I socialize with Luna,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I was just gonna say, like, social inter interaction.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I talk to her all the time. I like, I grab her little cheeks and I tell her, you are so special. You're

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

know,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

cute.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I know. I used to do that with Mojo all the

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

That's why her ego is so big.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That's why her ego is so big. Well, I, so for me to answer the question, am I a dog or a cat person?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

You're a dog person.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I love Luna, but I am a dog person. Even just talking about cats makes me just want to itch my nose. Like, just

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, that's okay. That's the one downside of Luna is she's so fluffy She's like a long haired cat and she's so fluffy that these hairs just They just like to flow right into your nose because you breathe it in or something and then you have these tickles in your nose That's probably the worst part You keep itching your nose.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I know, it's I should stop, but

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

That's probably the the only negative to having her I would

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, for

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But that's you know, that's so small compared to everything

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah. Um, so I'm definitely a dog person. I, had a dog that, and his name was Mojo, and he lived to be 18 years and nine months old and like before he passed away. And he helped, I like grew up with him. Like I got him when I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, he was our childhood dog, so I think you were, what, like, four when we got him or something?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So I was like four when we got him. So like, I, Not that, like, I was nervous to, like, get him or whatnot, but it was more so, like, nervous to how I was going to acclimate, like, after him because he, I don't even remember what age we started feeding him chicken and rice, like, on the daily. But, like, by the end, his, like, dinner was, like, chicken, what, green beans, rice, and some cheese. And, like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you were full on meal prepping for

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, yeah, I was going to Costco every week, getting a rotisserie chicken, like, just doing, being the most for him, and like, then when he passed, it was just like, I just got to

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

was early last year, just for some context. He passed away like early last year. Was it January or February

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

it was January. But it's been, yeah, it's been over a year. So, um, but yeah, then it just got so easy for me to like lay in bed and not have to worry about anybody. And then that's when, I mean, my health was kind of spiraling before then, but like, that's when it like really picked up even more. So,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Because you need to learn how to take care of yourself like that instead of just an animal.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Like you like to focus on taking care of other things, but you need to figure out how to turn that inwards and take care of yourself like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I know, like, I've, I've, like, tra translated that into, like, taking care of, like, dad. Like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I know. Cause you, you meal prep, you cook and make dad's lunches and stuff like that too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, and it's like, I make him lunch, and I used to, like, make myself lunch, but then, like, my lunches would just be thrown right into the trash. Not because, like, I didn't want to eat, but just because I, that's, like, a whole other thing, like, that I, I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, we'll have to do a whole episode on like all of our food and eating and all that kind of stuff because I feel like we have a lot of similarities with that too, but then also a lot of like opposites, but like the whole, I don't know, food, healthy, dieting, eating, forgetting to eat, like

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That's a big thing. For sure. Um, okay. And so, but after the year of travel, Luna will help a lot with just like my mental health and whatnot. And then after the year of travel, I want to get a dog, me or my dad. One of us will bite the bull and

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

funny when you say my dad.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh my God, I said it again.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, you always do that. You always say my dad, like he's only your dad, but he's mine too.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I know, but it's, yeah, I don't know. I don't have an explanation. Transcribed

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

such a habit of that. But, um, what kind of dog do you think, like, do, would you want another little dog or would you want, Oh, we'll insert a picture of Mojo too. So they can see he's a little white fluff

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

a mojo baby.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

want another tiny little, like, dog, or would you want a big dog?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I almost think, yeah, I will long term. I probably want like, kind of like the duo that we had growing up, like the mojo Murphy, like the small little white

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

little dog.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

and like a big dog. Yeah. And so big dogs don't last as long as little dogs. So I'd probably start off with like a young, like a little dog and then like getting into a relationship. That's when I'd get like a bigger dog or whatever.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, that's kind of like my plan, but yeah. So transitioning to the next question that I have, um, let's see. Are you a minimalist or a maximalist?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I'm a maximalist that tries so hard to be a minimalist.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Like, my ideal would be to be a minimalist, I think. But I collect so much stuff. That I must be a maximalist, but I really, really wish I was a minimalist. I think my mental health would be so much better if I was a minimalist. Cause like, you just have so much less to worry about. You have less to clean, you have less to organize, you have, you don't spend as much money. Like that's the ideal. I don't know. What do you think?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Um, no, I agree with everything that you said about yourself

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, but what about you?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I feel like I'm almost the same as that, but not to the extent that you are.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I, I really want to be like a minimalist and whatnot, but it's like, also one of my biggest hobbies right now is like cooking and baking in the kitchen and like, I'm going to have the gadgets that like I want. So like, I'm going to have the, the, the cheese grater and it's a pain in the butt to clean out, but it's like, I'm going to grate cheese every time. Like I cook dinner.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

that's so funny. We're, yeah, we're total opposites when it comes to that kind of thing. Cause like, you actually really like cooking and baking and stuff, right?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I love that stuff right up my alley,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I really hate it.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

but yeah, I honestly forgot what we were even talking about.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

The minimalist in

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Minimalist and maximalist, okay. Um, do you want to have children?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, I know you already know the answer to this, but no, I don't want to have children.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Like, in like, do you want to have children in like, what lifestyle? Like, are your, I don't know, like, what do you When you decide you want to settle down somewhere, what are you kind of like envisioning for yourself?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, so when I picture settling down somewhere like ideally I would do this year of travel and I would find my dream place like Oh, I love this place. This place feels like home. This is where I want to live.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Because you do not want to live in Michigan.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I definitely don't, but I, I also can't picture myself finding somewhere that I, I don't know what it is. I like to keep moving around. I don't know.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

You can't picture yourself finding, you can't picture yourself living anywhere yet.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, hope, like I'm really hoping I'll find

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

You have to manifest it and put it out there and speak it out into the universe.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, but it's either like, I'm going to find it or I'm not, so I'm looking for it. I mean, I'm doing my year of travel to try to find it. But um, so why are you shaking your camera?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, I'm sorry, my foot. I, like, I'm like starting to fidget now.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, you're literally like shaking

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

okay, so Once I once I hopefully find a place that I want to live and I settle down there what I picture is Having me and having Luna and making her a catio like a very nice outdoor cat patio This is my dream that you asked me.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yep.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

So, I want to make her a very nice catio. Even with room for me to sit in there and read with her. And, cause, you know, she loves to watch the birds. She likes to be outside, but she's a, she's a security cat. So, she needs that, you know, barrier. She likes being on this side of the screen. So, the screen door. Um, But I picture getting myself my dream house, my dream place, like where I want to live. I just want, like, I don't need a huge house or anything, but I just want a nice, cozy house. Maybe a little bit more modern vibes. And I want a library. I want an art studio and I want an office where I can do my work from home business stuff and, um, I don't really see myself with anybody like, which I know is so bad, but like, I don't know. I don't. This is another thing about me is that I'm I'm so independent. I'm so happy being single I have no desire to date. I have no desire to be in a relationship Like I'm just really I love being alone so much. And so I see myself

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

with that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I see myself. The only part I'm struggling with is like I wish I could have like three cats But Luna is such a cute cat A diva and an only child and she's never liked any other animal that she's ever met.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And so that's my struggle is I want more cats and i'm sure I don't know that's the trouble because it's like you never ever want to adopt a pet and then Have to get rid of it and give it back but like What are you supposed to do if your cats never get along like that scares me so much that I don't even know if I Would try to get a second cat because i'm so scared Like I know people do the very It Like slow introduction processes where you, you have them on opposite sides of the door and stuff like that. It takes like weeks to introduce them to each other properly. But what if I do all that and they s Like Luna still hates them.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, I also feel like animals can pick up on your, like, fear and whatnot, too. So, like, you, I feel like when you and Luna are together, she picks up on your fear and your anxiety so much. And, like, she gets, like, timid almost in, like, her way that, like, your anxiety is, like, presenting itself. And then, like, when, like, she's with me and, like, There's certain things that you're afraid to do. I'll just do it with her and I'll be like, yeah, I did it with you. And you're like, what? And I'll be like, she was fine. And you're

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, like an example is like touching her belly Like I had her for years and she like I could tell she was uncomfortable with me going near her belly She didn't like her belly touched. And so I just was like, okay, that's like a hard limit for you I'm never gonna touch your belly

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

zone.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And so I just never did, like, I never tried to pet her belly or anything like that. And then the one day, yeah, you literally were like, Oh yeah, I was like petting her on her belly. I was like, what? She let you, like, she let you pet her belly and now she's okay with it. Like, obviously she doesn't want you to like linger there too long, but I can like actually touch her belly now and she's

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

So I told you that you need to get her used to being picked up because that's the next step. She doesn't, she still does not like to be picked up. She'll let you pick her up for like five to ten seconds and then she wants down.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But like, oh my god, I would love to be able to pick her up all the time and just squeeze her and walk around with her.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

She has a quick attention span for sure though. Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, she's very, she'll give you a good five seconds and then she'll squirm to get down. And then if you don't let her down when she squirms, she'll bring out the claws.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Enough is enough.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Did

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

All right. Moving on. I think I have

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

answer that question?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, no, I guess not.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

What was the original question? I don't even

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

do you want to have children?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah. We didn't even get into that with my question, but yeah, I don't want kids. Like that's something I decided, well, I didn't decide, but like, I realized kind of like in the past few years that like, I'm definitely okay not having kids. It's one of those things where. You're raised as a female to think that you need to have kids and get married for your whole life. And it's very hard to break out of that and to realize that you don't actually need to do that. And so I think once I finally realized I didn't have to have kids, even though I love kids, I love being around kids. I just don't want my own.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

so I'll be the cool aunt. I'll be the aunt that travels and spoils the heck out of all my nieces and nephews.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Exactly. That's what I'm here for.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah. And so what about you? How many kids do you want?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Um,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

your sitch?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I, I feel like I want to, I feel like I want two kids and I definitely want to stay in Michigan and be close to like family and whatnot. I'm a big like family person so that like means a lot to me. So, yeah, two kids and staying in Michigan, but being able to travel,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

age? Like, you're 23 right now. What age do you think you would see yourself having kids?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

realistically, if I met somebody right now, because I'm single, if I met somebody right now and like everything like worked out like perfectly, maybe like two or three years,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Would you want to get married first?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, because then you have to figure out that timeline because it's like you have to date for however long and then you have to be engaged and then you have to get married and then you're gonna have kids if you want to do all that. It's like It's always takes so long.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, it does. And like, my standards are so high. So it's like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

is fine.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah. So honestly, like, thinking about it logically, it'd probably be like, marriage, then kids.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

But, I don't know.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But do you think you would want to like be married for a while without kids before you had them? Or you'd be fine having them right away.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

probably be fine having them right away.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Wow.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

well like, I don't know, like, maybe like a year. Just so like, you could travel. Cause like, I feel like traveling would be like, the biggest thing. Um, that would like, be the biggest like, change in your life. Like, when you're having like, kids. I just said that so wrong. Like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I know what you mean.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

you know what I mean?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

That's probably the thing that like becomes harder than anything else. Yeah. Once you have kids it makes it a lot harder to travel.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Right, so just being able to travel and go and drink whenever, like, I want and whatever. Not that I drink a lot because I don't drink all that much, but just being able to not have the responsibility.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Cause I have a pretty big high responsibility right now taking care of infants on a daily basis.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That's a lot. Sure is. Um, okay. Moving on. Are you more of a sporty person? Are you more of an artsy person?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, I'm obviously an artsy person. Um. Yeah, I've always been like an artist. I've been a painter. Um, I was always doodling and drawing as a kid and I would have, I don't know if anybody else remembers this, but at Michael's they would have these kits that were like, they were these books. I don't remember what they were called, but they all had different themes. So one of the books you would open up and it would have friendship bracelets in it and you would make the friendship bracelets along with the book. Or one of them

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, Yeah. Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

that you could make or soap or whatever.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

You could, we can insert photos, photo examples.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

good idea. Yeah, I'll

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

balls I remember the most.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And so I always loved those as a kid. That was like the easiest gift to get me as a kid. Just get me any sort of artsy craft that you could put

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

so I've always done arts and crafts. And then when I was in the military, I did a lot of crochet. Painting and it kind of goes in phases like I always thought I would mostly be a painter But I really haven't painted much in the past Honestly, probably four years. I've hardly painted at all. I'm like, that's okay. Like I'm, I'm fine with that, you know? And so, um, now my business that I have is art related. So what I do is I draw and sell coloring books. And so my, um, social media promotion that I do for my coloring book business is just to color. Basically, I make videos of me coloring. And so that's my little artsy thing I do each day. And I'm usually working on drawing a new book. And. Basically, yeah, that's kind of, that's kind of the only art thing I've been doing lately because it takes up so much of my time.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Mm hmm. Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I actually didn't say this earlier either, is that I went to school for marketing. That was what I got my degree in, um, was marketing. And, and the reason I went for marketing is because I knew I wanted to start some sort of art business. And I thought that was going to be a painting business where I would Paint canvases and then maybe sell those canvases and sell art prints and stuff like that. But just the thought of painting all the time, I don't know. I just,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It overwhelms you and it like, you don't to have like a painting deadline. I come to known.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I really don't like to have any sort of deadlines. I don't like, I definitely wouldn't have taken any commissions or anything like that because I don't want anybody like waiting on me for anything. I like to be in charge of my own projects. It's just kind of like passion projects. You want to do what you want to do. You don't want to do what other people are telling you to do.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

That is us to a T. Not being, like, we don't like being told what to do. And like having like the deadlines and we, like, I don't know, I just rather do it everything on my own terms.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Right. That's kind of what the hyper focus thing is about. You're able to do it with the things you're interested in, but you cannot force yourself to focus on things that you don't care about, you know? So it's like when you're able to focus on something that you really are excited about, then you can do really well at that thing, which is probably why I've been able to get my business up and running and it's been doing so well is because it's been like a passion project and I really love doing it.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Right.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Um, So yeah, I graduated for marketing and then kind of started this business. And so it combines like two of my really big passions in life, which is art and business. And so that's been really cool.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Nice. Yeah, I am the opposite. I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah. So you would consider yourself more sporty than artsy.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yes, even though I haven't worked out in so long, but most of my life I've grown up doing like, I feel like I've done so many sports. Like when I was little in elementary school and whatnot, with like soccer, cheerleading, swimming, diving, softball, like so many different things.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Did you do basketball?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I didn't do basketball. I did

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I did.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

feel like I did the ones that you didn't do, because I did basketball and tennis.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, yeah, you did tennis. I wanted to do tennis to fall on your footsteps, but, um, cause we would have had the same coach, but that's when rowing came about. Back in high school when I moved to my new school, this, um, was like the second year of the rowing program that had been like going on at this school. And so ironically, my dad worked with the, one of the assistant coaches. And so, because I was so tiny and just, you know. Like, small and petite, I would have been like the perfect coxswain, like, the perfect size of a coxswain. So, they had me go to like, one practice, and then like, ever since that, I just

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

We'll explain what a coxswain is, too, for people that aren't familiar with rowing.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So like, rowing is the sport of, like, you're in like this super skinny boat and then you're like rowing with like a paddle or whatever and there's like boats of like eight, four, two, and then in like the eight boat and then the four boats, um, there's like the person that's like steering the boat and like yelling essentially of like for like the cadence and just like for technical things and just to make the Get the boat moving in the most efficient way possible. And so I love that. And I stuck with that all throughout high school. And then that's what got me into college at Michigan state. So I did that for about three years in college and then kind of stopped doing that. And so I've probably not been doing a sport now for what, like three years.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, is that something that you want to start doing again, something sporty? What would you do?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

just, like, feel it in, like, my body, like, I've been working out, like, my whole life and just these past, like, three years has also not been good for my health. Um, I want, I don't want to, like, get back into, like, a sport, but I want to get back out into, like, the socializing and just, like, the aspect of the sport. So, like, maybe coaching and then, like, erging, um, like at home and whatnot because we have like a rowing machine here. But I want to get back out into like the social aspect of rowing eventually in the next year or two and being more in the active in the community. And then I also just want to start getting on a machine and just like moving my body.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. So do you think, what's your favorite, like, kind of exercise in general? You would say rowing? The rowing machine is your favorite?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Probably more so like, I don't know. I think I enjoy erging the most because I've done that for like seven years and like as a coxswain, I know like all of the technical like I know how to do it properly and I think with like the way that my mind works just like Knowing that I can get on that machine and like not be doing something to like potentially mess up like something in my body You know what? I mean um versus like doing like another sport where I don't know anything about it and then I could like be doing it the wrong Way and just like hurt myself. Does that make

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But is there anything, well yeah, but you can always learn how to do something else if you wanted to. Like you, you kind of want to stick with the safe route, but what if there was something that you liked more?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I mean like eventually but just like an Eventually, like, it'd be cool to, like, go take a pickleball class or go play pickleball or something like that, but right now, doing something that, like, I'm comfortable with getting back into it

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah, for sure for getting back into it. I was kind of more talking about like ideals or like dreams about it or whatever, you know?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like, I would love maybe not doing, like, oh, going to a yoga class weekly, but, like, weekly taking a class.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I think that would be

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Like, a different class.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

it would just have to be the right kind of class. Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So, yeah, I don't, I'm not super big into like,'cause like what? I know. Hold on. My throat is so dry.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. It's getting really dark in there too,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I think knowing like everything I know about like rowing in high school and then rowing in college. The workouts that I'm used to at the, like, the collegiate level, like, I can't just get on an erg and, like, do that right now. So I think, like, just being so in tune with my body and, like, doing, like, what my body's, like, capable and comfortable with, like, just in the beginning, and then once I have, like, because right now, like, I couldn't, like, Probably even hop on an erg and do like a regular workout, not a collegiate workout just because of like my eating and whatnot. So it's like, there's like building blocks and stepping stones that I need to get to be able to

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, I

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

work out. You know what I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

your health in general and getting your eating habits right before you know.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Like everybody, like I'll have like friends ask me like, Oh, let's go to the gym. Let's like do this. And it's like, yeah, like I have time. In my day to go to the gym, but it's like, I haven't properly, like, fueled my body to be able to, like, survive the gym, without

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, no, you'd probably end up passing out.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

right, so it's like, I'm just, I'm very in tune with my body to, like, know when I can do that, and maybe sometimes I give myself too much grace with that, but, I don't know, my eating thing just really, I need to get that under control first,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. That

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

but yeah, so, what was that? What were we talking about? Wow, we really got on a

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you a sporty person or an artsy person?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh yeah, so definitely more sports sporty. And like, I have to be doing things.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I was also going to say, like, with the artsy thing, I feel like you don't have enough patience to be an artsy

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't I 100 percent don't.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, you get, you would get bored really easily, I

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I can't even like color a full page. Like I just get so bored of

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Um, and then not a question, but one thing I really want to mention that's going to be like prominent so much when it comes to us is, like when we get. Like when we get onto a hobby or something, we go like balls to the walls. And now in this day and age, we like know what it's called. It's called hyper fixation. And so

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I know. Learning that it's called hyperfixation was crazy because I thought that was just like a personality trait we all had.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Right. And so now like knowing that it's, it's so funny. We're going to have to do like a whole like port, like segment of like all the hyper fixations that like we've gone through and whatnot.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

my gosh, that would be crazy because we get really excited about something and then go all in and then we're done with it like a week later.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

literally.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And it's also you don't even realize when you're doing it. You really think this is going to be the thing. This is going to be the project that I do. This is going to be the business that I start. This is going to be, you know,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And I feel like you've gotten more because you're more like financially stable and whatnot, and you've always had like the income and you've always been able to fund whatever you wanted to do. And so with that, that gives you so much, like, that's why you maximalist trying to be a minimalist because

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

right? Because I just buy everything. Oh my God. It's so bad.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yes. And so when she moves, Wait, what'd you say?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

was gonna say because when you said you were less of a maximalist than me, I was just gonna say like if you could afford it, I feel like you would be just as much of a maximalist as me.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

percent. A hundred percent. And, like, fortunate enough for me that when she moves and she truly does become a minimalist, I, like, get first dibs on, like, all the things that she's

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

recently. So, that's also another perk.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

on whatever you want.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

But, yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, so what were we talking about? We were talking about The whole hyperfixation thing. Yeah, that's definitely going to be a recurring theme because that also goes along a lot with our goals that we make and stuff like that. And when we do our weekly recaps, like I'm sure there will be things where we're like, Oh, this is my new thing. This is what I'm going to do. And then the next week it's like, yeah, that's that lasted one day,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

that's come and gone.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

but that's okay. You

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, it is. Yep.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

did you have any other questions or was that the last one?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Nope. That was the last one.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Okay, so I did want to ask you this and it's kind of like a couple parts of a question But the first part of the question is like how do you define success in your life? Like what like what do you think? Okay, this this is like a two part question because it's like what do you think? The general purpose Like of your life is what's your goal? Like what, what, what would you define as success in your life?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I feel like growing up, it's success is instilled in our mind that it's all about like having the best job, the best high paying job then you like for you to get the, um, just. I don't know, make the money you need to make, and then you can like, get the house, and I don't know, it's just,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Like stability.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

stability, and like the typical American dream, and I don't know, that, like, not everybody's the same, and for like, you, who couldn't, like, I'm not saying this in a bad way, like, couldn't stand to live with your family, like, I could probably live with Dad, like, my whole life. Or, like, even if I got

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

like, he could, like, He could live with me, and I would actually have no problem with that. Like, I'd probably prefer that. Versus, like, him living

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

prefer your dad. I just said your dad.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

See? It's not just me!

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

That's so funny. You would prefer dad to live with you and your husband and your family.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

If we had, like, a, like a,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Like a family compound or something.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like the family compound idea, it was just, would be amazing to me.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

See, that's so funny. That's somewhere.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

or something, or he could live in the basement, a room down there.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. That's something where we're like total opposites on two. I could never, ever, ever live in a family compound.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, because when we joke about it, we just joke that you're like the aunt that lives on the corner of the property. Like on the opposite end from all of us.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I would need to be like a couple miles away, I think, or like at least a mile.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

that's so funny. Yeah,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

even think I would probably live in the same. I would have to probably. Maybe I would have a vacation house at the family compound and then I would have my regular house somewhere

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I think so.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I just really need my alone time, like, a lot more than a lot of people, I think. I really, really like just my independence and my alone time. Like, I don't think I'll ever live with anybody ever again until I find, like, my person that I want to be with forever, you know? I'll obviously live with them, but like until then, there's no way I'm ever living with

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, and I feel like there's no reason for you to really have to

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

live with anybody.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But so you never answered, you said what you don't want or what you don't really care about is like the, the typical nine to five stability, like crap that people think you need to do. But

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, yeah, so going back so I feel like the definition of success is like, I don't know I feel like the older I get the more like things just like randomly start like making sense to me and just like Now success isn't just like the typical like having the money that you need to the stability and all that success is Truly what makes the individual person happy and like what means the most to them So like for you traveling is like so high on your list But like for me like being with family is probably just up there on my list as like traveling is for you you know, so it's like I don't know. So success for me is, I want to be like, I want my house to be like completely, not perfect because nothing's ever going to be perfect, but like, you know, like I want my house to be like at my certain standard level. And then I want to have, Not the nicest of everything, but just, like, good quality things that, like, last. So, I don't know. Like, I find myself more so often now getting home and I'm not, like, doing busy stuff, like, on the house to, like, better the house. Like, I'm now able to sit down. I can go to the garden and then come back inside and I'm like, okay, now what? So, it's like, I have, like, the more time. So, I don't know. I just went on this, like, big, this, like, I don't, I don't know for, like, what classifies of being successful. I feel like hitting your personal goal, like, inner true happiness things.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like it'll be different for every person. Like, I would literally say that I think, I think success in life is just happiness.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, and what makes somebody, like, truly happy.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like I think the purpose of life is really just happiness and just pursuing things that make you happy as long as it's not hurting anyone else, you know? But I think a lot of maybe the older generation would be like, oh, you think the purpose of life is happiness? Like, what kind of woo woo stuff is that? Like, Life is hard, life is this, life is that, but it's like, it doesn't have to be like that. Like, you really can pursue the things that make you happy and you can make your goals happen and like,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Right. Yeah, just working with some of the older generation that, like, we're talking about, it's so funny seeing, like, them versus, like, me, and I'm just like, why are you breaking your back to, like, Be here when you like really Don't need to be I don't know. It's just wild to me.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

It's like very different values.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It is

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Speaking of like, the values thing, I find very interesting because Like your personal values, like your values in life, like everybody's are so different, you know, And I think a lot of people a lot of people whenever I read about Values or ranking different things in your life by what's most important to you I always feel really guilty because everybody most people put family at number one And I don't know what the heck is wrong with me, but i'm just not like that

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So, when I was, when we were up north, I was talking with, like, my cousins about just, like, mental health and stuff like that. And. One of my cousins flat out was like, dude, look, like everybody, like, we all care like about each other and we really hope the best for everybody. But at the end of the day, everybody just cares about themselves and everybody just, just cares about themselves at the end of the day. And so like, you truly need to focus on yourself and not what other people like are thinking because at the end of the day, nobody's really thinking about. you explicitly, like, they're just focusing on bettering themselves. So, like, you need to prioritize yourself at the end of the day and not,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like everybody is the main character of their own

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Right. And so, Like,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you're, the only person that's gonna care about yourself as if you're the main character in your own life, you know?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

So, you're just being, like, a supportive role character to somebody else by, like, wearing and, like, fixating on, like, all that, like, stuff 24 7 and you're just, like, missing out on, like, watching and being a part and present in your own life.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I just always found that so interesting

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

because like everybody's really always like, oh family And I'm sure maybe I don't know if maybe some people are talking about Family like their spouse and their kids because that of course I understand a hundred percent But I've always looked at it as like your outer family, you know, like your parents, your cousins, your aunts, your uncles, your grandparents, that kind of family. And that's not the kind of family that I would say is like more of a priority than anything else in my life.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, granted, our family is not family

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

family's not super close. Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

and it, and things would be drastically different if they were.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And obviously like I consider, I don't really lump you in with like family cause you're just like something else. Like you're obviously just always, you know, a top priority in my life or

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And our family dynamic is so weird and different.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, we just have kind of like a distant family. There's kind of like clicks on our family and stuff like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, but like even, and this is just scratching the surface of what we could talk about here, but like, I could classify myself as an only child, but then I could also classify myself as like the youngest because I do have two siblings, two sisters, but You moved out when I was so young, it's just like, I don't know. So like I get the perks and the disadvantages of like both sides. Does that make sense? And then the fact that like. all have different moms, and like, we grew up together, but like, we didn't with our other sister. It's just, it's not normal at all.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. That's actually interesting.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And it's so hard to compare ourselves to like, I mean, you really shouldn't be comparing yourselves to anybody else, but, you know what I

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, but I didn't realize that maybe a lot of people do that because they have of a like inner family that it was closer or something like that was like, you know, they had a parent, like a mom, a dad and siblings and then grandparents and they were all really close or something. I don't know. Cause ours was really weird. Like, like you said, we're all kind of separated into a lot of different households, even with our immediate like siblings and stuff like that, you know? Cause even like I have a brother on my Mom's side that like you don't have and so he grew up in a different household and stuff like that And then we have our sister that grew up in a different household and stuff like that. And so yeah a different state entirely So that is kind of interesting. We were just all very separated and I don't know I

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

And I think that's what drives me more, to be family oriented, because I don't like that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you're like making up for it or something.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, almost like like my inner childhood or whatever of just I don't know I see so many like other like friends and whatnot of just the traditions and this and that that like everybody has and it's I don't know it's gonna be a big part of My kids lives is family.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that's going to be really fun.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It will

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

And I'm excited for you to have kids. Cause I know I'm going to be close with your kids. Cause like, I really love kids. I'm really good at kit. I'm good at kids. I'm good with kids. But it's kind of weird when, like, if you're not close with like my brother, like we grew up in different households and stuff like that. So like, I'm not super close with my brother. He has four kids and I'm not super close with those four kids because of that. So that's kind of sucks. Like I see them on holidays and stuff like that, but I do kind of like wish that I could be closer with my nieces and nephews. And, um, but I know that you and I are so close that whenever you do have kids, I'm definitely going to be close with your kids.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, for sure.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Even if it's over FaceTime, even if it's me mailing them stuff, like whatever it is, even if I'm long distance, which I probably would be long distance because I'm not coming back to Michigan, but.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I'm excited for that era.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I know that's gonna be really very interesting, but I I don't know I feel like with the whole family thing I I don't need to be in person with people to feel closer to them I'm fine with a phone call or a FaceTime to me. That's like the same thing you know what I mean like when people are like Oh, like I miss you and stuff like that and I'm like, well, we're talking right now Like what do you mean?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Of course you would say that or think that. You're

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I? Don't know. I just there's something

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

like how can it get any better?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I'm like, we're literally talking right now. What do you mean you miss me? Like, I'm right here. We're Facetiming. You can see me, you know, I don't know what it is. I'm just not an in person person. Like, it doesn't really make a difference to me. To me, if I'm catching up with someone on Facetime or in person, it's almost the same thing unless it's like a significant other. Then, obviously, long distance is really hard and I'd rather be in person with them, of course, but I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm not, like, a physical touch person with people anyway, so I'm, like, I'm not very huggy, I'm not very whatever, so it's, I don't really need to be in person to get the same benefits,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

you

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I can't relate to that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Wait, I have a question, actually. Do you think you're a huggy person? Like, are you a physical touch person with family or friends or whatever? Like, do you like hugging and stuff?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Um, I definitely do like the whole hug thing for like getting somewhere and then like hugging everybody or like leaving and giving everybody a

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

my worst nightmare, actually.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Like that's fine. What I'm not okay with is there is this one, like, family that I babysat for and this one kid, oh my gosh, he was like a koala, like, on like a

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, that's just overstimulating. That's not normal, you

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. And just like wanting like the physical touch and whatnot. I'm just like, mm, like get out of here. But like a significant other, like, yeah, like I would say

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, with a significant other, but like,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

but like, my mom, if like my mom was to touch me, like it would just like get off me

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Get

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

though I love her, but it's just like, and like, I know where that's coming from of, she's just like, My mom and she just wants to like be there to like touch me and I don't know like I know I'll feel that way Eventually, but it's just like please don't touch me.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But what about, like, so do you like, so you don't want people to touch you then? You don't really like hugging, or what?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

It just depends on like the scenarios or like the circumstances

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Oh, because sometimes I feel guilty with you that I'm not more huggy and stuff.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

No,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I've never told you that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

no, but I feel like close best friends and stuff like that. Like I feel like they rarely hug Like have you ever seen that like on tik tok where it's like, oh just like I don't know I've seen so many different videos where it's like said that Super close best friends like don't really have any like photos together or like don't really like Hug or like touch each other or whatever versus

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

But I feel like that's usually because there's one friend that's like, no, don't touch me, you know?

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I guess so. I've never really thought about it that way, but then there's like other friendships where I don't know

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, sometimes I see friendships or sisters or something where they're actually, like, they'll be sitting on the couch together and, like, lean on them, or they'll be, like, almost, like, a little bit cuddly, and I'm, like, but it's, like, obviously totally platonic, but I'm just, like, I am not like that, like, I will never be cuddly unless it's, like, a significant other. I will never, like, be leaning on someone or, like, hugging on them or stuff like that. I don't know. I, I just not, I'm just not a physical person like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't know cuz like I remember,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

like,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

times were like I'd be like on the bus for like rowing and like I'd be sitting next to like cuz I used to I was like a Coxon for the guys team so I would I was super close with, like, all of the guys, and then, like, I would sit with them, like, on the bus to ride to places, and I'd, like, stretch, like, my feet, like, across from them, or, like, if I'd fall asleep, like, I don't know, but maybe that's, like, my

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

I don't, I feel kind of, I feel like it's kind of different with guys too for some reason

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, like, that sounds so weird or kind of wrong to say, but it is.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

a very flirty person with just like, and I get it from mom too, with like my hand gestures or like, like touching or like, you know what I mean?

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I'm very much like that.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I'm definitely not like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

When I was, um, in high school, we did paper plate awards for rowing camp one year. And I don't know if I ever told you this, but my rowing award was most likely to be surrounded by guys.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

That's funny.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. It's the biggest flirt. But that was all platonic.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. I don't know. I remember, um, I remember a while ago someone, I think it was one of my coworkers, they brought up the, the idea of like platonic cuddling. They were like, oh yeah, sometimes like friends platonically cuddle, and I'm like, what? I don't know. They're like, yeah, it's like totally normal. Just totally platonic cuddling with friends and blah, blah, blah. We're just like touchy feely friends. I was like, huh? I never, ever, ever felt that way before.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, I don't know if I can relate to that because like when I'm,

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, no, I can't.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

no, I'm definitely not like that.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Maybe with my dog.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Well, yeah, but animals are different. Obviously Luna will cuddle her all day,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah, that's strange. I don't get that, nor will I think I ever will.

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

but yeah, I feel like that was a good little icebreaker with the questions and maybe it'll spark more questions from people and we can, you know, read the comments and answer more questions sometime, like maybe in a. a couple months we'll do another Q& A or something like that. Um, cause it's kind of hard to go through your whole life and be like, Oh, what would people want to know? Like there's just so much to it or whatever. But,

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

I think we did a good job of like getting a variety of

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

yeah, it was just very random, but you know, random topics, whatever, just our thoughts on it. But maybe next episode we'll do a little bit more of a structured topic about, you know, whatever we feel like talking about and we'll see how it goes.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Thanks for watching. See you

_1_07-04-2024_165215:

Yeah. Thanks guys for joining us. Bye.

sarah_3_07-04-2024_165215:

Bye.
