Welcome to the inaugural episode of This Is Disruption. Hosted by me, Rua, a street artist and DJ from Ireland now based in East London. This podcast shares the captivating stories of the creatives in street art, graffiti, music, photography and beyond, who boldly challenge the norms, break barriers making room for others, and share their work unapologetically.

I'll tell you a secret.. This was never meant to be a podcast. This series started out as a feature on my radio show, sharing short interviews with creatives that inspire me. This podcast was born out of the desire to give those artists the space they deserve to share their uncut, full-length conversations, and to share those conversations with anybody who could benefit from hearing these inspiring stories. 

Each episode promises to be a raw, authentic, and inspiring look at what drives artistic risk-takers to create, speak their truths, and sometimes push the boundaries of legality.

Hello there. You are very welcome to the introductory episode for this Is Disruption podcast with me Rua. This podcast brings you in-depth interviews with what I call the disruptors, that's, the fearless creatives in street art, music, photography and beyond boldly challenge the status quo, break barriers for others and share their work unapologetically. Each episode is a deep dive into the lives of artistic risk-takers, exploring their motivations, their inspirations and the reasons for their willingness to disrupt societal norms. Some of these stories involve revolutionising their industries, while others push the boundaries of legality with their art. Let me tell you a little bit about me. I'm a street artist and a DJ originally from Ireland, but I'm now based in London.

My journey into the world of street art began unexpectedly after moving to Brick Lane, the heart of East London and a place that is brimming with creativity and inspiration on every corner. Quite literally Soon after picking up my first can of spray paint, I found myself immersed in this amazing community and constantly inspired. Now I'm going to be honest with you. I never planned to host a podcast. How this all came about is that I created a feature as part of my radio show where I interviewed some incredible creatives simply because I thought their stories were so interesting and inspiring. However, the constraint of a 10 minute slot for the radio meant that editing the conversations down was really difficult. Every single conversation was so rich and so inspiring that it felt like such a disservice to cut them short. I realised I owed it to the people who were so generously giving me their time and wisdom to share their full stories with the world, also in the hopes that somebody out there could maybe benefit from hearing those stories and that it may help them to feel as inspired as I felt after every conversation that I had. And that is how this Is Disruption was born. I'm on a mission to understand what drives us to create. Why is it we feel it's so important to say whatever it is? We have to say that we're willing to get into trouble to do so. I've had the privilege of speaking to so many incredible people, so please join me as I go on this journey in the hopes that together we could learn something. Each conversation has left me profoundly inspired, and now I cannot wait to share these conversations with you.
