Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Fandom Portals podcast, where curiosity meets community in a celebration of all things geek. We build connections on every episode by delving into your favorite fandom questions in the time it takes you to drive to work every morning. Now I'm your host, aaron Davies, and I'll be here with you on every single future episode of the Fandom Portals podcast, and in this episode, we're going to be talking about what this podcast is, who I am as a host, and we'll also be talking about how you can get involved with the podcast. Well, so, if you're listening to this, you've probably found us on your favorite podcasting service through the TV and film category, or maybe even the hobbies section. Now, our podcast falls under three particular categories, and from this podcast, you'll be able to satisfy your curiosity, connect with community and celebrate the fandoms that you love. So what do we mean by curiosity? You'll be able to express your interests and have your questions answered. Through this podcast, we go through deep dives on various different fandoms, whether it be Lord of the Rings, batman, ninja, turtles and everything to the Marvel and DC comics. If you have a question about it, send it over to us on our email or on our social media. We'll do our best to answer it for you. That's right.

Speaker 1:

The content on this podcast is completely directed by the community. We answer the questions that you have. Now, sometimes there's questions that I cannot answer myself and as a result of that, you may find on this podcast that an interview happens. This show is both solo hosted and an interview format, so we get experts in over the course of our podcast to give the best information to you. Now we don't only have experts on this podcast. I also invite members of our community on to share the fandoms that they love as well, and the way that you can get involved in that and become a guest on this show is in the back end of this cast, so stick around for that and we'll tell you exactly how to do it.

Speaker 1:

Now, as I said, a really big part of this podcast is that community connection, and that occurred because I found myself, as part of my fandom portals journey, making a community page for everyone to share their various different fandoms on, and the expression of interest that I got and the response that I got was absolutely amazing for so many positive people that are wanting to share the things that they love with others. So I thought why not give them a platform to do that? Why not answer those questions from the community and completely community-centric podcast? And this is a space where we can agree with each other and disagree with each other, but as long as we're connecting with respect, then our podcast is doing its job. Now this podcast might also help you learn some new things about fandoms you didn't know, or it might reinforce that knowledge that you already do. It might help you to explore new fandoms and it might also give you that community voice that you've been looking for. And the last thing this podcast aims to do is to celebrate. We want to grow together, we want to learn together. We want to celebrate all the new content that comes from all different forms in our fandom and discuss the wishes that we have for our fandoms in the future. Sometimes the fandom community out there of your favorite fandom can be a little bit toxic, but not here at Fandom Portals. Your opinion will always be welcomed and it will be met with respect every single time.

Speaker 1:

Now, who am I? I'm Aaron Davies. I am a 34-year-old guy who lives in Australia. I'm a father, I'm a teacher and I'm also a massive geek. My interests include Lord of the Rings, the X-Men animated series I love playing. Gears of War, dungeons and Dragons is my jam. My first love ever was Batman. I love Star Wars, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have an awesomely special place in my heart as well. So, as you can see, I have a mountain of interests and I needed an outlet for them, and I knew that there were people out there who were just like me. So this is that space, that outlet, that creative opportunity for people to go about and research the things that they want to, just in the name of curiosity, fun and connecting with others. Because I don't know about you, but I can remember the first time that I went to a cinema and felt that magic. I remember seeing Lord of the Rings when I was 11 and watching the ringwraiths lean over that log as the hobbits hid and just that feel. It gets to you. It's a feeling that happens to you and that's that feeling I want to emulate and that feeling that I want to connect with and express with all of the community.

Speaker 1:

Members of the Fandom Portals podcast. So let's get on to how you can get involved Now. There are a few main ways that you can contact us here at Fandom Portals, the first of which is email, the second of which is social media. Now, all of these links will be in the show notes below, but basically getting involved includes you having a say on the community questions that are presented after each episode. It also includes you presenting topics that we talk about in the Fandom Portals podcast. So if you've ever wondered what was Anakin's motivations for turning to the dark side, if you want to know who was the strongest member of the Bat family, if you need to know what Wolverine's most powerful mutant ability is or how he got so popular, then this is the space for you to ask. You can send those through email, through threads or through Instagram. We're very active on those already and we already have an amazingly budding community full of people just like you asking questions every day.

Speaker 1:

Now, another thing you can do as being part of our amazing community on social media is you are able to fill in a guest application and come on the show. That's right. The next few episodes, you will be able to see community members who have done exactly that. That guest application is on our link tree, which is in our Instagram, but it can also be available to you by request. If you email our email address, I will send that to you, so you don't have to miss out if you don't have any of those social medias. Now, this podcast has been a long time in the making, so I do have a few thanks to give out before we move on to our next episode, the first of which is I'd like to thank my amazing friends and family who have supported me in making this creative venture, so much so that some of them have even decided and asked me to guest on the podcast. I look forward to seeing those interviews in the future.

Speaker 1:

The amazing community of fandom portals that are already existing on social media. You guys have welcomed me into the space with open arms. We interact almost every day. There are polls on threads that we talk about all the time. It is a great space for you to connect If you are looking for a safe space on the internet where you can talk about everything that you love that is in pop culture. The last people that I want to thank is the amazing people at the Geek Freaks podcast. Frank is an amazing dude who reached out to us in the early stages of our community journey and he asked if we wanted to join his network without me even having published an episode.
