She had it Constrained to a wheelchair, fed through a tube and even robbed of her teeth. Gypsy's reality was a nightmare of hospital visits and surgical procedures. But the truth, it was all a lie. Dee Dee was suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition where a caregiver fabricates or induces illness in someone else, seeking sympathy and attention for themselves. Gypsy, healthy all along, was subjected to years of unnecessary treatments. Dee Dee shaved her head, enforced a strict regimen of medications and ensured Gypsy never spoke during medical visits. The control was total, with Dee Dee even faking Gypsy's age to maintain the illusion. As Gypsy grew older, she began to see through her mother's facade. The internet became her secret escape, where she met Nicholas Godajon on a Christian dating site. Feeling trapped and desperate, gypsy confided in Nicholas about her life In June 2015,.

On that fateful night, nicholas came to their home and, as Gypsy hid in the bathroom, he murdered Dee Dee. Arrested and charged, gypsy was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Nicholas received life.
