Brian Plachta:

Welcome to Spirituality on the Go, a podcast where you can discover practical tools to put in your spiritual toolbox so you can live in the divine flow of love, discover your inner calm and experience lasting joy, happiness. As we step into 2025, many of us are setting goals. That's a good thing. Getting healthier, for me it's losing weight, deepening relationships, or maybe tackling some long held dreams you've aspired to accomplish. But what if I told you there's one simple gift, a practice, that you can give yourself, that can support all your goals? while bringing more lasting peace and happiness into your life. That gift, that practice is daily meditation. Just a few minutes a day in the quiet can literally transform your life. Starting a daily meditation practice as part of your new year's goals is like laying a strong foundation for everything else you want to achieve in your life. Meditation helps you build a gentle discipline. It helps you develop resilience and restore balance to your life of mind, body, spirit, all of which are essential for turning your intentions into reality. Meditation is literally life changing because it creates an inner space, a sacred space within yourself for inner peace, a space where you connect with the divine presence of God within you, where you can feel embraced by God's love and connect with your inner teacher, your inner self. Sitting quietly and focusing on your breath, calms the chaos of your mind and helps you feel grounded. Over time, this inner calm becomes a natural part of your day, letting you approach life's challenges with clarity and ease. Meditation also cultivates lasting happiness. True happiness isn't found in external achievements. It's already within you. It's within your soul. Meditation helps you tap into your soul, that inner wellspring, where God and you dwell as one, where you can experience joy, happiness, wisdom, guidance, independent of life's ups and downs. Meditation also focuses your clarity. It allows you to clear the mental clutter in our brains, the monkey mind that is always ooking at us. Meditation gives us space for creativity. It allows us to make better decisions in our lives because we respond by bringing our life's problems and inspirations into quiet time so we don't react in life. We respond with wisdom, love, inner peace, guidance. Meditation also strengthens our relationships with ourselves and other people. By meditating, we begin to experience and develop this calm, centered mind, body, and spirit, which foster our ability to be patient and compassionate with ourselves and other people. One of the most profound gifts of meditation is its ability to connect with your inner self and God. You might think of it like tuning a radio station. At first, all you might hear is static, the noise of daily life, the endless chatter of our minds, and the distractions of social media, the news, the noise of the world around you. But as you sit quietly and meditate, you begin to adjust the dial of your inner radio. Slowly the static fades, and you begin to hear a clear, strong, more beautiful signal that emerges over time. This signal, this radio frequency, is the inner voice of your inner self. The whisper of God's presence within you. The voice of your inner teacher, God's divine presence, inspiring you. As this divine frequency becomes clearer, you can hear messages of love, guidance and reassurance that too often get drowned out by the busyness of life. Meditation allows you to align your inner radio with this divine frequency, giving you direct access to God's peace, joy, and wisdom that's always there, just waiting for you to be still, waiting for you to listen so you can hear The inner voice of love. Over time, staying tuned to this divine channel through daily meditation spills over into your daily life and it transforms the way you live. Challenges that, once felt overwhelming to you are met with calm and clarity because you've learned to listen to guidance within you. You become more joyful and free. Not because life is perfect. But because you're connected to that steady, unchanging source of love and strength there within your soul, God within you, as you. So how do you start a meditation practice or jumpstart one that has fallen off the path? The best part about it is it's simple to start. You don't need any special equipment and you don't need hours of free time. Even five minutes a day can make a huge difference in your life. So here's some steps you can follow. Find a quiet space where you won't be interrupted. A place where you can be alone with yourself and God. You might want to light a candle to remind yourself that God is always present with you around you and also within you. The light of love within you surrounding your inner being. Then set a timer maybe for five minutes or for however long you'd like to sit in the quiet. Get into a comfortable position. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly. Your breath is the divine presence of God, the spirit of God, breathing in and through you, from the first breath you took when you came out of your mother's womb, until the last breath you take when you leave this earth. So when you focus on this spirit of God, the breath flowing within you, it becomes your focus, becomes a space within you, you can Feel its presence and quiet in the mind. If you'd like, you could also instead use a simple mantra. Like, may I be at peace? Or may I be happy? May I feel loved? Whatever it is you need in that moment, you can use that as a mantra to gently repeat to yourself. When your mind wanders, which it will, it does for all of us, gently bring your focus back to your breath. And that's it. With just five minutes or more a day, you'll begin to notice the benefits over the course of a few days, a week, a month, a year. Over time, you can gradually increase your meditation time or explore different techniques that allow your mind to be quiet. Meditation is a gift that keeps on giving. It's the gift you give yourself. So as you step into 2025, consider why not give yourself the gift of meditation. It's free, easy, and most of all, it's life changing. It's simple, but deep. It's probably the most important spiritual tool that you can put into your daily spiritual toolbox to grow. and truly be the person that God created you to be as you are, where you are.
