I do want to share that, as I've implemented some strategic protocols, this one in particular, it's made an immense amount of difference in my life to the positive and being able to feel better and look better and feel younger and have more energy and vitality and mental fortitude, mental clarity. It's just been absolutely amazing, this transformation that I've gone through, and that's why I'm bringing this here to you on the Breaking Boundaries podcast. So let's get right into it.

Speaker 1:

The first one, the first supplement, is a daily activated multivitamin. Why is that important? Well, first of all, daily. You want these multivitamins in your body on a daily basis. But what does the word activated mean? Activated really means methylated and that means it's going to be available to you. Now you can take a capsule, you can take a multivitamin and chances are you know if you're buying your supplements at the same place that you buy your toilet paper and your toothpaste. Well, you're probably flushing your money down the drain along with those, because you just really cannot get a high quality, functional, medicine grade daily activated multivitamin at your local pharmacy or your big box store, your costco, your walmart or any of those. I mean nothing against those stores, but they're just not carrying the top quality brands that are actually going to do you justice, as opposed to not opposed to, but as an option to a daily activated multivitamin. You know, I also recommend in this category, this first category. This is going by the hierarchy or the priority of you know, if you're just going to do one thing, you're going to do this number one thing and then the second one that we're going to give you if you're going to add something on it would be the second, so on and so forth, through these top five longevity supplements.

But as an alternative to the daily activated multivitamin, the daily nutritional support powder that we use from equal life, our partnership with equal life, the global leader in functional medicine they have an amazing daily nutritional support powder. They're constantly tweaking the formulation for that to make it better and better. But in addition to having a full multivitamin and full multimineral, now it's activated multivitamin, it's methylated, it's going to be highly absorbable, bioavailable, but it also has the amino acids that you need and also it has 15 grams per serving of a vegan protein, a pea protein powder, in there, which most people are not getting enough protein, and that's an episode for a different day. But the DNS powder, daily nutritional support powder. It's a great way to get in that protein at the beginning of your day. And so, either the DNS powder or the daily activated multivitamin, these are cornerstones of any supplement regimen, and these provide a broad spectrum of essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that we need on a daily basis to maintain optimal health. That's no BS, my friends, that is a fact. So with today's food quality issues, most of us just aren't getting the full spectrum of nutrients from diet alone. So something along the lines of the DNS powder or the daily activated multivitamin it fills those gaps perfectly. That's why it's called a supplement, ensuring that you get all of those B vitamins super important B vitamins buffer stress they're like absolutely amazing, they do so much stress. They're like absolutely amazing, they do so much. So getting a full B complex. Other things like vitamin K2, which is a cofactor for vitamin D3, which we're going to be talking about so I'm kind of giving away the progression here and other micronutrients critical for energy, for metabolism, overall vitality, and here's the kicker the bioavavailability, meaning your body can actually use it efficiently, can absorb it and use it efficiently. That's super important.

Speaker 1:

Okay, moving on, number two omega-3, and specifically an omega-3 that's higher in epa and I'm going to tell you in a minute why that matters. So that is next on our list for number two omega-3 fatty acids, particularly with the higher epa ratio. So omega-3s are powerful anti-inflammatories that support brain health, support cardiovascular health support, support joint health as well. But the reason I emphasize a higher epa content is that epa has been shown in numerous studies to be more effective at reducing inflammation compared to DHA. Now you still need DHA, but the interesting fact is you know why it's so.

Speaker 1:

Crucial is that the body can convert EPA to DHA, but not the other way around. So you know, if your body, your body, knows what it needs, if it has Ample amounts of EPA, then it can convert to DHEA. But if you're getting more DHEA in your supplement, it can't make that EPA conversion if the body needs it. So that's why that's important. A two-to-one ratio is super important. You also want to make sure your omega-3 is triglyceride bound. It's third-party tested for heavy metals and toxins. You want to make sure it's minimally processed so that it's not causing oxidation in the body. I do have a podcast specifically on that so you can go back and look at that. We'll link that up in the show notes.

And so this is all the reason why it's so crucial for those dealing with chronic inflammation or looking to prevent inflammation. So remember inflammation, it's at the root of most diseases. So remember inflammation, it's at the root of most diseases. Anything ending in itis is an inflammatory response. So that includes a heart disease. It also includes Alzheimer's and even certain types of cancer. So adding a high-quality omega-3 supplement to your daily regimen is a non-negotiable for longevity.

So next number three and I was debating on putting this as number two or number three, but I put it as number three a daily greens blend. So a daily fruit and vegetable blend. That's something that we use. That is our third foundational supplement Daily fruit and vegetable blend. Think of this as your insurance policy for getting all of the phytonutrients, the antioxidants and the fibers you need from fruits and veggies that you might be missing in your daily diet. So you know, we're supposed to be getting seven to nine cups of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. Now, I do this myself most days, but it's you know, it's not easy. I get to put basically three cups of fruits or veggies in my breakfast smoothie, in my lunch and in my dinner. So we're talking about a powerhouse ingredients list like spirulina, chlorella, a variety of berries and greens that help to support things like detoxification, digestion and overall immune function, which are all important for longevity. Now the science here is clear Regular intake of a broad spectrum of phytonutrients supports everything from cellular health to reducing oxidative stress, which is a major aging factor.

Okay, moving on Number four, vitamin D3, as I alluded to earlier, it's super important. Most people say you know well you need k2 with your d3 and and I don't disagree, that is. That is a fact. Now most people won't take a d3 unless it has k2. Most people that are, you know, very um critical of their supplementation. But if you're taking a daily activated multivitamin or something like the daily nutritional support powder, you're getting that k2, that vitamin k2 cofactor, in that daily nutritional support powder. You're just not getting the vitamin D3 to the extent that we recommend. Maybe you know 2,000 IUs international units at an absolute minimum and upward of. You know maybe in some cases 8,000, but that's very short term. So 2,000 to 4,000 international units on a daily basis most months of the year. If you're living where you can get a full body tan in the summer months, then maybe you can back off on the vitamin D3. But that is fourth on our list.

Speaker 1:

Vitamin D3, specifically paired with vitamin K2, which you can conveniently get from the DNS powder. So D3 is well known as the sunshine vitamin. But what many people don't realize is how crucial it is for everything in the body, from immune health to bone density. It even plays a huge role in mental health and preventing chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes. So K2, on the other hand, it helps direct. It's a cofactor for the D3, but K2 also helps to direct calcium to where it belongs. So it's, you know, it's very important. We want that calcium to stay in the bones and stay in the teeth and away from the arteries. It's, you know, calcification of the arteries is a major issue in today's day and age. So taking more calcium could cause that problem if you don't have the balance of the D3 and the K2 in your daily regimen. So the synergy of D3 and K2, it's why we consider it foundational to any longevity protocol. Okay, here we go.

Number five Last but certainly not least, let's talk about magnesium, magnesium. It's involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, enzymatic reactions. It supports things like muscle function, sleep quality. Magnesium is the all-star for stress reduction. It buffers stress, it helps with heart rhythm, it even helps with digestion, believe it or not. So most of us are deficient in this mineral, this very, very essential mineral, due to depleted soil quality and high stress lifestyles. So, depending on your specific needs, you might actually benefit from magnesium alone or from a balance of calcium and magnesium supplement, if calcium is also needed.

Just a minute. But this combination is especially important for anybody looking to support bone density, relaxation, sleep, recovery from exercise, recovery from surgeries. It's super, super important. So that is number five on the list. So you know, there you have it. We. We talked about your daily activated multivitamin, talked about your omega-3, talked about your daily activated multivitamin, talked about your omega-3, talked about your daily fruit and veggie blend, vitamin D3, specifically with K2, and then magnesium or calcium magnesium product depending. So, depending on what you need and we'll talk a little bit about the importance of knowing and how to know what you need, knowing and how to know what you need. So, while these foundational supplements they can benefit nearly everyone, it's always best to personalize your approach based on what your body actually needs, and that's where we would implement something like the vitamin tox test.

This is also known as the starter kit. This involves two at-home functional lab tests. This combines the minerals and metals tests, also known as a hair tissue mineral analysis. It's been a staple in functional medicine testing for decades, since the early 1970s, as well as the organic acids test, or as we call it, the candida metabolic and vitamins test. So those two make up what we used to refer to as the starter kit. Now those are called the vitamin tox test and this comprehensive at-home test kit. It reveals your body's mineral deficiencies as well as potential toxicities, and it's an absolute game game changer for customizing your supplement and your nutrition plan to ensure that you're addressing exactly what your body needs. There's's no more guessing, no more guessing games whatsoever whether or not you're taking the right supplementation.

So now, before we wrap up, I want to make sure that one thing is clear While these five foundational supplements can be incredibly powerful for supporting your health and your longevity, they're just one piece of the puzzle. They're just one piece of the puzzle. They're just one piece of the puzzle. So, optimizing for longevity it isn't about finding a magic pill or a quick fix. It's about a holistic approach that addresses every aspect of your lifestyle. Nutrition, movement, quality, sleep, stress management, detoxification, maintaining a positive mindset all play equally critical roles in how well and how long we live.

Supplements can help to fill those gaps, but they can't replace the fundamentals. You can't out-supplement a poor diet. You can't out-supplement a lack of exercise or chronic stress, as I covered in episode 100. So think of these supplements as part of a toolkit that supports a healthy, balanced lifestyle, like an insurance that covers you while life gets busy, while you get stressed or you can't find all the nutrients that you need from high quality foods.
