Hello and welcome to the Supersize Phys Ed podcast. My name is Dave and today I want to talk about my book and I've changed the title and subtitle. Yes, that's actually a thing and I did it, and I want you to be a part of the new process going forward. So, without further ado, here we go. Welcome in PE Nation. I'm so glad you're here with me today.

So, like I said in the introduction, I changed the name of my book from the Teacher, the Chef and the Hockey Player to the new name, which is High Fives and Empowering Lives, and the subtitle is A Physical Educator's Quest for Greatness, and I really think that's what it's about. So when I originally entitled my book the Teacher, the Chef and the Hockey Player, I kind of thought I was being cool and cute and funny and I don't know. My favorite author I've said this before is Robin Sharma, and my favorite book from him is the Saint, the Surfer and the CEO, and it is about again I've said this before, but I'm just as to any new listeners it is about just a person who's struggling with just his life, his career, and he encounters these three mentors a saint, a surfer and a CEO, which sounds pretty cool and they bring different things, different knowledge, different energy, and he learns a lot from them and changes his life. So I patterned my book after that book. I had a character I still do have a character in this case a PE teacher who his name is Jay, who is basically me as a younger teacher, making a lot of mistakes, not knowing what to do, just wanting to quit. And he meets these three mentors a teacher, a chef and a hockey player. And when I named the book that I'm like, oh, oh, well, that makes sense the Teacher, the Chef and the Hockey Player. Clearly it's a self-help book for a teacher.

And although I got a lot of good feedback and good reviews from some of you and I appreciate that I noticed that, well, a few things. One, it kind of stopped selling Uh, not like, for it hasn't sold a whole lot lately. And two, people didn't know what it is or what it was with the title. And ever since I started joining these groups, these Facebook groups for writers because now I'm I'm an author and I'm on my second book, uh, writing the sequel to it I kind of put it out to them as a group as as authors, and a lot of them had no idea what I was by the title, what it was about. As a matter of fact, something I never, ever thought of is there was a romance author in the group I mean, there's lots of them, but one you know. One of the authors said you know, I thought it was some kind of romance novel, hey, a teacher, a chef and a hockey player, whoa, you know.

And that kind of threw me off right there and I from then on I'm like, okay, I got to change the title and it's not an a super simple process but it's not that difficult and honestly I want it to be more in the PE market, the PE literary market, I guess, where you know this helps PE teachers, it can help anybody. The book there's nine principles that the mentors teach that can be applied to any business, any life, any whatever, whatever you're in, any career. But I wanted it is specifically towards, geared towards PE teachers. So again, I like the new name. It took me a little bit to come up with. Again it's high fives and empowering lives, and then the subtitle is a physical educator's quest for greatness and I'm hoping you like it. I like that a lot better.

I like the cover better. It's the same story, it's just I changed. You know who it's geared towards and I think it's more clear that way, and not a romance novel, I promise, although, no, it's not a romance novel at all, but the second book has a little romance in it, I'm not gonna lie, but not this one. So what I did today actually is I pulled the teacher, the chef and hockey player versions of the book off the shelves is, I guess, the digital shelves, so you can't order those anymore? I don't, I don't think it takes a little bit with the algorithms, but that's gone now. So anybody who has one, you now have a collector's edition and that's awesome and I appreciate that.

So, moving forward, please, if you already have the book, don't buy this one unless you really want to. It's the same exact book, just with a different cover, different title, different subtitle, and here's my goal, or here's my objective, and I want to pass it along to all of you. I'm going to put the book on sale at a super low price, starting now and it will end at the end of next week. We're actually going on a cruise next week, so basically, when I get home from the cruise that weekend, the following weekend it will be not on sale anymore. It'll still be a relatively decent price, but it won't be super, super cheap. So here's what I'm offering and it's on my website and it's also something I'm offering in the show notes here.
