Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Donna Lee

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment, Dr.  Mistry and Donna Lee speak with Dr. Tyler Goldberg, an orthopedic surgeon practicing at Texas Orthopedics.

Dr. Goldberg shares some great insight with us today on what to look for in your orthopedic surgeon. He reminds us that knee and hip surgeries are not a one-and-done procedure, and that it is important to find a surgeon you are comfortable building  a lifelong relationship with. He encourages patients to read online reviews about doctors and look into any suggestions they may receive by word of mouth.

Dr. Mistry and Dr. Goldberg discuss some of the changes in requirements to be approved for surgery. In particular, obese patients (Body Mass Index over 30) may face an increased risk of surgical infection and a more difficult recovery than those at a reduced weight (BMI below 30). These risks are particularly problematic for patients with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol levels. Our doctors today encourage listeners to consider nutrition and weight management as key components in a good overall surgery plan.
