Today's Question:
"I have had BPH (an enlarged prostate gland) for years, and am currently taking Finasteride and Alfuzosin. I recently underwent a microwave treatment for my prostate, after which I had a catheter in place for 12 days. My urine stream is back to normal, but my ejaculation and climax have changed. Should I expect to see any changes or a return to normal?"

Dr. Mistry reminds us that medications can be incredibly effective in treating urologic conditions, but they are not without risk of possible side effects. These side effects tend to have a greater impact the longer the medication has been used and can include: changes in orgasm/climax, changes in ejaculation, dry mouth, and dizziness.

In fact, there are times when surgery, although more invasive that taking medications, is the right treatment for you. Procedures like Urolift and Rezum are minimally invasive and have been proven effective at treating an enlarged prostate.
