Join Rob today as he discusses how he integrates a "Weekly Review" into his weekly schedule and routines.  He'll be discussing his use of the Best Self Journal and a dedicated block of time.  In life, be able to justify everything you do by giving everything you have.  Thank you.


  • Best Self Journal
    • 13 weeks
    • 2 pages devoted to planning and review
      • 3 weekly objectives
      • Events / Deadlines
      • Errands / Tasks
      • Input of Daily Tracking metrics
      • Weekly Reflection
      • Key Relationships
      • How you will ensure next week is as good or better
  • When / Where
    • Sunday morning after church
    • Weekly review takes approximately 1.5 hours
    • Current location of choice is Panera
  • Transition into a newly formatted journal
  • Transition from beginning of week from Monday -> Sunday
  • Transition from journaling seasonally --> "traditional"
    •  For example: The calendar year can be divided into four quarters, often abbreviated as Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4. In Gregorian calendar:
  • Unaccomplished tasks over past 4-5 weeks = 15 overdue items
    • Why?
      • What's really important?
    • I frequently put too much on my plate and make myself anxious
    • Rather than get things done, I waste time "organizing" tasks
    • Instead of executing tasks, I often time spending time building lists
      • Focus on doing work instead of creating work
    • Why do I postpone what's important?
    • What is important?
      • Clean up personal task management software
        • Do not use task management program to house information
        • Task management program is for task and project management
          • Proper application of program  / projects in life is important
          • Improper application of programs to assist causes stress in life
        • Clean up / clear out recurring tasks
        • Too much clutter creates monkey mind
      • Make my lunch the evening before
        • Lunches are healthier
        • Made with a mindful manner
      • Fasting
        • From substances used that don't benefit me
          • Tobacco smoking - quit January 2020
          • Cannabis - recreation and stress response
            • Potential for medicinal use / benefit
            • Reality is I have used more recreationally this year
            • Don't conflate medicinal use & abuse
          •  Alcohol - recreation and stress response 
            • First of all, alcohol is poison
            • Cutting out alcohol would be healthier - simple
        • Easy to justify bad habits 
        • Need to get real with ourselves
  • "Priority Work" time in mornings
    • After passion and purpose work - need to spend some morning time on finance a few times each week to get caught up
  • Improving personal attitude
    • Begin giving 110% 
    • Execute on what I can control
      • My attitude
      • Certain tasks
      • Give my all...all the time - if I *choose* to
      • I can control my attitude and perspective
  • Do not be satisfied for performing less than your potential


  • Be able to justify everything you do by giving everything you have
