Porty Podcast
The Porty Podcast is a community project, highlighting events in and around Edinburgh's seaside - Portobello! It's a very active area with sailing, rowing and kayaking on the Forth, a vibrant artistic community and a strong sense of identity which makes it slightly separate from the other parts of Edinburgh. 141 Portobello Rotary Club
Portobello Rotary Club is over 50 years old. It meets every Wednesday evening in the King’s Manor Hotel. It’s part of an international organisation with philanthropic and humanitarian objectives - Rotary International's motto is ‘Service Above Self’. One of the ways the club here raises money is by running the monthly car boot sales at Newcraighall Station; but it’s also involved with a number of youth related projects both in Scotland and abroad. However, the members insist that they don’t take themselves too seriously with fun and friendship a vital part of the club. Perhaps surprisingly for such a well-established institution, many people don’t know about it – so David Calder went along to find out more.
