In today's world - having a website that hooks people from the first sentence is vital if you want to survive & thrive in the digital economy, but if you're like me, we struggle to really nail that first line.
That's why, for the next LIVE Q&A Show, I'm bringing the guy that has figured out exactly how to craft the first sentence: Joe Martin.
Joe has spent the last 20 years working on how to see the world through your clients' eyes, and created a truly different way to solve the most common website problems- focusing on the copy of the first sentence to drive conversion.
On our show together, he will discuss:
- why most of us get the first line by chasing quirkiness over clarity
- how to craft the ideal first sentence that turns prospects into leads
- where you can use this message to increase your sales conversions further down the funnel
- and more!
Not a lot of people get invited onto the show more than once, but Joe's particular genius is one that I need to tap into again, and figured it would be best to invite you along for the ride!
Join us to ask him specific questions about your website in the next LIVE episode of the B2B Community Builder Show!

This continuation of the show with Terry Weaver is a good one.
As soon as we opened up the mic, we started asking Terry, who puts together two great events a year (The Thing), about:
- how to make better keynotes
- how to land speaking engagements
- how to make content to increase your influence
Connect with Terry and go to one of his events!
Entrepreneurship can be many things: fulfilling, maddening, lucrative, demoralizing, exhilarating, lonely, etc., and community can help normalize the roller coaster ride.
But simplification is the best tool to reduce chaos.
That's why keying in on one thing at a time is such a valuable practice, and Terry Weaver has built an extraordinary community through events around that concept.
Terry will be joining us on the next B2B Community Builder Live Show to talk about how he's built up his legendary "The Thing" event series and what he's been able to learn from this experience (and the experiences of his community) that can help you get unstuck as an entrepreneur, in your career, or even help you decide if entrepreneurship is for you.
We're going to dive into topics like:
- The one skill that seems to be most misunderstood and mislabeled for entrepreneurs: creativity
- The one thing most entrepreneurs suffer with when it comes to having successful partnerships
- The only thing that entrepreneurship guarantees (hardship), and the only way to know if you can handle it
- and much more!
Whether you want to know how to grow an event series, if you should quit, or how to take the next step, this will be a conversation you will want to be part of!

This is part of one of our open mic sessions where my friend Joel Mena stops by to discuss his evangelism and community building around the UX community of Miami, then I try to convince him why I think Jerry Seinfeld is a category designer.

Some companies are out there capturing demand from the market and doing it well. Then there are other companies that are doing things differently.
Maybe it's an innovation the world hasn't fully understood yet. Maybe it's a break from the status quo in the industry that puts the client's needs first.
These companies need someone that is championing the change they wish to make in the world, bringing "AHA" moments to folks that didn't realize there was a way to solve a problem they assumed was just a cost of doing business, and building a community of people that believe in this new way.
That is the role of the Chief Evangelist... and as AI continues to change the landscape, this role of the evangelist is continuing to pick up steam.
But it isn't widely understood.
That's why we brought Ethan Beute, Chief Evangelist at BombBomb an host of the Chief Evangelist podcast, on the show to demystify what I believe to be the most crucial skillset companies will need in the next 10 years.
Ethan helped us understand:
- What does the role of a business evangelist look like and who needs one
- How should the Chief Evangelist be incentivized and measured
- Why he believed in the future of the role so much that he started the podcast (one of my favorites!)
- and much more!
Ethan was a past guest from the Human Centered Communication episode, is a dynamic speaker, and has become a friend. This is an eye-opening, value packed episode.

I recently took a call from a friend on LinkedIn asking me about things I often get hit up about, and it ended up being a great call so I asked him if I could publish it, and he said ok!
He then told me what his reasons for reaching out were:
"I thought you’d be able to help with strategy around building an audience and a following. Ways to use digital mediums to create, repurpose, and promote that drives engagement. I thought you’d have recommendations on tech and process that could jumpstart and simplify things since you’d been doing it for so long. Also general guidance and things to avoid when starting out!"
If you have any of these questions, then you'll get a ton out of this episode.
If you have any more questions, join us for the open mic sessions after the show (starting at 5:30pm ET on Mondays) and bring your toughest questions for some great advice!

This is the behind the scenes onboarding call with Charlotte Lesage from Melting Spot who where she got to truly understand what we do and how we do it.

1. The Big Audience Lie: how I realized small audiences can out-punch big ones when it comes to influence
2. How To Build Your Own Business Based On Your Passion: the unconventional, uncompromising path it takes to do it
3. The Counterintuitive Strategy To Build Community: this is the formula for building community while building an audience, not after

LinkedIn has long been dismissed as just a site for recruiters. Then savvy business development professionals found success using it as a networking site - a digital rolodex for professionals.
But what if we told you that LinkedIn is actually STILL untapped and underestimated platform for businesses to exponentially grow revenue?
That's right, while everyone else is looking to grow their personal brand, you can take full advantage of LinkedIn by empowering your team to become evangelists for your brand.
Listen to my conversation with LinkedIn expert, Rachel Simon, to shift your perspective and unlock the true potential of this platform by turning your employees into brand ambassadors that can propel your business to new heights.
We discussed:
- How to empower your team members to become authentic, genuine, and engaging representatives of your brand.
- Why the risk of your employee finding a better job is worth the reward of helping them grow their personal brand
- What new features LinkedIn has released in the past year or two that makes your last Sales Navigator training obsolete
- How to prep your team's LinkedIn ahead of a conference to win the trade show in person and online

Hosting an event is a great way to build your brand, but people tend to overcomplicate doing it.
That's why we used last week's relationship driven growth open mic to share a couple of low cost, low effort, high impact events that our community has pulled off, including:
- a tea party at the Drake Hotel of Chicago
- a book signing at an airport bookstore
- an upcoming improv night to kick off a conference
This is just part of the stuff we share on the second hour of our weekly internet talk shows.
Come for the interview portion and stay for the open mic, or if you want just show up late and be there for the open mic!

Richard Branson famously said, "Communication is the most important skill any leader can possess," and conversations are the base of communication.
But I've never seen any training on how to be a great conversationalist.
That's why when Yurii Lazaruk reached out to ask me how I learned to interview people on my show, I knew it would be a great opportunity to share what I know about having easy conversations with anyone.
This has been a lifelong obsession for me, and I hope to share:
- How to apply a couple of frameworks I've developed that make any conversation easy
- Why listening to summarize has become a superpower that helps the person I'm speaking with
- What practicing interviewing people on podcasts has unlocked for Yurii and I that you are probably underestimating
- and much much more!

The strategy of category design involves creating a new category instead of competing in an existing one.
By marketing the problem rather than the solution, companies have succeeded in capturing 76% market share in their category.
This is because she who states the problem best, is known to have the solution.
But most people believe this only works for companies with giant coffers seeking massive scale.
That's why this example of category design thinking to resolve a conflict between two civic groups in Santa Cruz really stood out to me.
So we discussed it on the Relationship Driven Growth Open Mic Session we host after every live show. It generally starts at 5:30pm EST on Mondays right after the B2B Community Builder Show wraps up.

My friend Simon Zatyrka has launched a food industry consulting business around the concept of being a "culinary mechanic". The business closest to the customer wins.
This is because if you can speak directly to your customers' pain points in their own language, they trust you have the solution they need.
But businesses tend to spend the majority of their resources (time, money, attention) on activities that happen nowhere close to their customer.
That's why the idea of Event-Led Growth is one you should consider.
On this show, Mark Kilens, CMO of Airmeet, will teach you what Event-Led Growth means and show you:
- why events are a more efficient way to discover prospects, engage buyers, and grow advocates
- how most companies are underutilizing events, and the opportunity it creates for you
- what you can do to de-risk your event strategy and make sure it drives longterm success for your team
- how the next generation of influencer marketing is an event strategy
- and more!

This included:
- should you look for a job or try to start your own business?
- is it possible to do both?
- what could doing fractional roles for multiple companies look like for you?
It felt like the community came alive with personal experience that could help anyone from job seekers, to people unhappy in their current job, to entrepreneurs and solo consultants.

The easiest way to grow an audience is to leverage other audiences, and guesting on podcasts is a great way to do it.
But most of the outreach I get to be on my show SUCKS.
That's why I'm going to share what works.
We're going to be sharing what has worked to get on my show, what has worked for our clients to get on other shows, and strategies that past guests of our show have used to promote themselves.
This includes:

- when it makes sense to hire a podcast booking agency
- how to use small shows to parlay your way into bigger name shows
