In this episode of the podcast I talk about “Pigeon-holing” your music.


I came across this notion (not for the first time) in some comments on Facebook. 


Now you all know how I feel about cynical/critical people. BUT, this comment sparked a thought that I should probably give my ‘two cents’ on this.


I think so many composers (people in general) are riddled with fear and anxiety about their abilities. The sad thing is that this fear is often masked by being overly critical of others, perhaps even being a tad too driven by an ego. 


I’m not standing on a pedestal saying how great I am because I have overcome my ego - I have not. I am saying that we need to keep ourselves in check by asking something like “am I reacting out of fear or out of love and excitement?”
