Ever found yourself obsessing over the details, like how clean your pot is, only to realize there's another side to the story?
Khevin Barnes, a male breast cancer survivor, graces our podcast with an enlightening conversation about his extraordinary encounter with this life-altering disease and the unexpected life lessons he gleaned from it. He connects the dots between the thoroughness of scrubbing cookware and his personal scrutiny of his mastectomy scar, weaving a profound metaphor for his experiences. His narrative isn't just about the claws of fear and the specter of cancer's return but also about the unwavering hope and deep-seated gratitude for the life he continues to lead.

Hello, hello and welcome to this. In the Rising Short I wanted to share with you something that I read from Kevin Barnes Finding Cancer Survival Lessons in Unexpected Places. So Kevin describes his own journey with male breast cancer and how he looked at evaluating his journey by being in the kitchen and cleaning the pot and he had cleaned it and his wife came in and said it's not really clean, and then turns it over and starts cleaning that part and he says no, whatever, looks at that bottom and then he realizes that there is a lesson with this, that there are really two bottoms. So, yes, he was evaluating and looking at his mastectomy scar and constantly thinking about whether or not cancer had returned. He had a fear of dying too soon, but he realized that he also had one intact male breast there.
Bettina M Brown:He had a lot of wonderful reasons to be hopeful and grateful and then he knew his life could be long and fulfilling. And so while it is important to make sure incredibly important to make sure that we're as healthy as we can be and want to have the absolute cleanest pot and have that wonderful bottom, is also realizing the other thing that there is still so much to live for. And when we look at what is still there. It can help us look at our life through the flip side, as Kevin says, and continue your quest for healing, but not forget that there is an upside, right now, this moment. So thanks for being here on this In the Rising Short and let's keep building one another up.
