Feb 21, 2022 Season 1 Episode 41
Markus Fjørtoft / Ciaran McKenna / Mike Noonan

Mike Noonan (@CoachMikeNoonan) is Head Coach of Clemson Men's University soccer team and current NCAA Division 1 Champion, the national champion of college soccer.
Following retirement from professional soccer, he has gone on to become one of the most well-respected college soccer coaches characterized by an impressive consistency and talent development.

Episode Description
In this talk with @markusfjortoft and @CiaranMcKenna8, he reflects on recruiting character instead of players, taking an educational approach to developing players, cultivating a “winning” culture across decades of coaching, where college fits in the larger American development system and the “software” it provides, and how MLS can do better in recognizing this.

At Ivy League school Brown University, Mike enjoyed consistent success, reaching 8 NCAA appearances, and winning 8 Ivy League Championships. Following his 15 years at Brown, he became head coach at Clemson and has since won 4 ACC Regular Season Championships and 2 Tournament Championships.
