Hello and welcome back to the Catholic Cemeteries Association's video series on pre-planning. Today's episode focuses on the first step of the burial planning process, which is selecting a cemetery. The Catholic Cemeteries Association manages 20 cemeteries throughout Northeast Ohio. You may be familiar with one or two, such as All Souls Cemetery or Holy Cross Cemetery, but it's important to remember that each of these locations is part of the CCA. Brian Strawn, our pre-planning coordinator, will provide more information about our cemeteries pre-planning coordinator will provide more information about our cemeteries.

Speaker 2:

The Catholic Cemetery Association is under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Cleveland and the Bishop of Cleveland at large. However, we are our own separate entity and we have our own board. What I mean is we are 100% self-sustaining and we are a not-for-profit organization. Above all else, it's important to understand that the Catholic Cemetery Association is a ministry of the Catholic Church. Our goal is to serve the Catholic community in Northeast Ohio surrounding the death and burial of a loved one.

Speaker 2:

Currently, we have 20 cemeteries that we maintain and of those 20 cemeteries, we have eight primary cemeteries or offices that we refer to. They include Calvary of Cleveland, calvary of Lorain, all Saints in Northfield, all Souls in Chardon, holy Cross in Cleveland, brook Park area, holy Cross in Akron, st Joe's in Avon, and then there's Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City, slash Brunswick area. So when choosing to be laid to rest in one of our Catholic cemeteries, it's important to understand that a burial in a Catholic, our Catholic cemeteries, it's important to understand that a burial in a Catholic cemetery is a final act of faith, a witness to one's belief in the resurrection and an everlasting life, and it's important to secure your place in sacred and consecrated grounds. The question that needs to be asked, and everyone should really ask themselves, is why would we not continue to exercise our Catholic faith, even in death?

Speaker 1:

Well, thank you so much again for joining us today, Brian. I am sure that our listeners really appreciate you going over the importance of selecting a cemetery and why it's important to be buried in a Catholic cemetery. For those who are watching, stay tuned for our next episode, where we will discuss the second step of the burial planning process, which is selecting a burial type. We're going to go more in depth about traditional cremation and natural burials. Thank you,
