The Levitical priesthood was designed to point to something better.
Christ is superior because His priesthood will never end. There is now no need to sacrifice bulls and goats to make atonement for our sin. Christ’s work was finished on the Cross.
Then what does it mean for Jesus to be our Great High Priest?
Through Christ’s death, He offers us eternal redemption. This means we’re no longer separated from God. The throne of judgment has now become the throne of grace and mercy. We can come boldly to Him in prayer.
We are now priests.
Men, we can approach the throne of God on behalf of those around us. God graciously empowers us to serve in the lives of others.
