A Rock 'N' Rollercoaster Ride with Reuben Archer - Part one

Undercurrent Stories

In today’s show, which is the first part of two episodes, I am delighted to welcome Reuben Archer, rock musician, author, a self proclaimed petrolhead, former editor of Fast Car magazine and artist/painter. Reuben is the former frontman of the famous early 1980’s NWOBHM band Stampede and then after a gap of 20 years he has continued to write and record albums through to the present day.

He has just brought out his autobiography, A Rock 'N' Rollercoaster Ride which describes his life story so far.

In this first episode we talk about Reuben’s early life in South West London. We hear about beatniks, teddy boys, coffee bars and mods and what life was like growing up through the monochrome backdrop of the 1950s through to the technicolour explosion of the 1960s. Like his book this interview reveals what life was like as a teenager growing up during a period of fundamental change in society. It’s a real social commentary which both fans of rock music and others, will I think, find very interesting.
