Presbyterian School

This year, we are adding new elements to our podcast. In addition to featuring PEOPLE in our People of PS podcast, we are going feature signature PROGRAMS of the School as well as PARENT ED topics.

In our first episode of the year, tune in to hear Head of School, Dr. Mark Carleton, dig into our Odyssey of the Mind (OM) program with Lower School Think.Make.Talk (TMT) teacher, Gail Kirkconnell, and former PS parent and OM Coach, Lori Cook.

Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is a worldwide program that brings together teams of students to showcase their creative problem-solving skills in a series of competitions at the regional, state and world levels. Teams of students work together to solve a variety of challenges that require them to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions completely independent of adult assistance.

Currently, Odyssey of the Mind is the School’s most popular extracurricular activity. In the 2022-23 school year, 112 students participated across 16 teams ranging from 2nd-7th grades Not only is this the highest number of teams Presbyterian School has ever had to participate in OM, but it is also the greatest number of teams any school in Houston has sent to competition. Moreover, Presbyterian School is currently the only Houston private school to support an Odyssey of the Mind program.
