Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Frank Veith. Dr. Veith is a renowned vascular surgeon who recently published a book, “The Medical Jungle”. Dr. Veith has had a long and storied medical career.

I was particularly intrigued to speak with him about the evolution of vascular surgery over the last 50 years ago when I learned that he graduated medical school the year I was born! I particularly appreciated this quote from his book, “The Art of Medicine cannot be taught from a book.”

Dr. Veith pioneered the development of vascular endografts. He did the first aortic endograft for an aortic aneurysm in the United States with an Argentinian colleague. This procedure has now nearly replaced traditional open aortic aneurysm surgery. He also championed vascular surgery limb salvage techniques.

Please watch this 30-minute fascinating interview with Dr. Frank Veith, who has an amazing perspective on the practice of medicine!
