Jesus' final prayer for His disciples was that they be one, as the Father and Son are One. And Paul chooses to address the factions in the church at Corinth first, above all of their other problems.
Why is unity in Christ's church given such importance? Because, regardless of the other problems we have, if we are not united under the leadership and Lordship of Christ, no other problem is solvable.
So it is very important that we come to a common understanding of some basic Biblical definitions; wisdom, the Cross of Christ, greatness, humility, and this week, the Work of the Holy Spirit.
