 (A Recovery of Joy) WEEK #14 - 119th  day of the Year

Scripture 4 Today: Proverbs 10:17 & 12:26 (KJV) The labor of the righteous tends to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin. 26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduces them.

Ephesians 5:1 (KJV) Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;

 New Year's Theme - “REJOICE” - The joy of the Christian experience is the key theme running through this epistle. The words "joy" and "rejoice" are used 16 times in the epistle. Paul wrote Philippians at a time when he was suffering in prison (under house arrest), when he was weary and wondered if he might soon lose his life for Christ. And he wrote to people he loved. So his words to the Christians in Philippi were heavy but caring; sad but consoling; appreciative but bittersweet.

This Epistle of Philippians teaches that HUMILITY mixed with HOPE overcomes HARDSHIP and results in JOY (See Psalms 118:24 & Nehemiah 8:10)

Series Theme Verses:

*John 15:11 (KJV) These things have I spoken unto you, that my"joy"might remain in you, and that your "joy" might be full.

*Philippians 4:4 (KJV)“REJOICE” in the Lord alway: and again I say,“REJOICE”.

   From these verses we see that our source of “REJOICING” comes from the Word of God on the inside of the Believer! Keep in mind the Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit is dealing with the necessity of  working the Word, of not being hearers only as the Epistle of James teaches us (James 1:22)!

With that being said, let’s go to chapter 4:9 of Paul’s letter to the Philippians:

*Text Philippians  4:9 (KJV) Those things, which ye have both (#1) learned, and (#2) received, and (#3) heard, and (#4) seen in me, (#5) do: and the God of “PEACE” shall be with you.

Note this is the 3rd time in this Epistle but 2nd time in this chapter Paul is teaching us about “PEACE”! In verses 6-7 we are taught to pray with thanksgiving - communicate with the Lord rather than with fears and worries! Then we would live in a peace of God that passed all understanding! Now today we are taught about not just having “PEACE” but a promise that the God of “PEACE” would be with us when we live by these 5 attitude actions!

#1 LEARNED

*ReREAD Philippians 4:9 (KJV) Those things, which ye have both (#1) learned, and (#2) received, and (#3) heard, and (#4) seen in me, (#5) do: and the God of “PEACE” shall be with you.

Note “learned” #3129 (man-than'-o) to learn and to understand.

*Read Matthew 11:29 (KJV) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

This is so precious, it’s about fellowship with Jesus moment by moment! In all reality we will either be submitted to the Savior or submitted to Satan! Choose wisely!

*Read 2 Timothy 3:12-14 (KJV) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

We are living in the Laodician church age, the time of the great falling away! Remember our opening verse in Proverbs 12:16 - the way of the wicked will try to seduce you
