Bernie Liang is currently the Senior Director of Student Engagement at Seattle University, where he oversees initiatives designed to engage students in campus life and leadership development.  Throughout his career, he has dedicated his leadership to creating inclusive environments that encourage deep interrogation of our systemic inequities in higher education.  His hope is by doing so, higher education and its graduates can become better suited to address the change we need to see in our society.  

A first-generation gay Asian American cisgender man, and child of immigrants, Bernie received his Master of Arts in Education in Student Development Administration at Seattle University and his Bachelors of Science in Business at Penn State University.  At home, Bernie is proud to be a loving husband to Ryan Hamachek, “Papa” to their kiddo Eli, and loving dog owner to their sassy pet Sybil.
