Originally from Detroit, Nicole (she/her) is a writer, performer, producer, nonprofit professional, and educator with over 25 years of experience as a practicing artist.  Nicole is the founder, producer, and host of Black Writers Read, has self-produced a spoken word album, and published a poetry anthology. Her poetry and playwriting seeks to bring to the forefront the authentic experiences of those that are the most marginalized. Her award-winning play, get (t)his!, has been produced in Massachusetts, New York City, and her hometown. She has performed her poetry in over 20 venues across the Northeast and Midwest at various festivals and colleges along opening for musicians. She is a sought after events curator and writing workshop facilitator. She created Black Writers Read to challenge what we define as the literary canon and to help others embrace their love of reading.
