Season 2, Episode 78

Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn about Kathleen Donnelly Israel’s spiritual journey on the Camino. Her wisdom and reflections might inspire you to do this journey one day, too.

During the 17 years that Kathleen took care of her disabled husband, she studied online with many enlightened thought leaders and healers. Kathleen developed some spiritual philosophies she shared with those she met on the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago, 500 miles across northern Spain. Kathleen had great adventures and shared this all in a book, Wisdom on the Camino. At age 72, in 2021, she walked the Camino Portuguese from Lisbon to Santiago and on to Fisterra for almost 500 miles. She is also a transformational breathing facilitator and theta healer.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

  • You will learn why Kathleen embarked on this spiritual 500-mile trip on the Camino.
  • In her 70s, Kathleen prepared for this long journey by reading books and walking the mountains in San Diego.
  • Once her walking journey started, Kathleen walked between 10 to 15 miles a day and never got blisters, as she took her time to connect with each place that she visited.
  • Kathleen said that only 20 to 30 percent of the people are doing Camino as a spiritual journey like she did.
  • Kathleen plans on walking on Camino del Norte and other places for her 75th birthday in 2024.
