Gina Lucrezi is a partner, a leader, a connector, a trail runner, an ultrarunner and founder of the online journal and community called Trail Sisters which started in 2016. She is a women’s rights advocate dedicated to making impactful, equitable progress within the outdoor recreation industry. She believes in the importance of public stewardship and gives back to her local community as the Mayor Pro Tem of Buena Vista, Colorado, a member of Chaffee County Search & Rescue North and a board member for the Hardrock 100. Gina received her BA in Television and Film from DeSales University and her Masters in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. Two years after earning her Masters in Sport Management, in 2008, Gina moved to Southborough, Massachusetts, to work as a marketing manager for inov-8. Later, in 2011, she relocated to Carbondale, Colorado, where she took a seat with “Trail Runner Magazine” as the Advertising Sales Manager. Over the years, she also took roles as the Business Development Manager at iRunFar and Athlete Manager for Red Wing Shoes. At the time when Trail Sisters launched, Lucrezi lived in Boulder, Colorado, and worked as a contractor for Julbo, Ultimate Direction, and Vasque, doing marketing, team management, and athlete management. She is a 10x Division III NCAA All-American, Division III NCAA National Champion for Indoor 1500 meters. She is a USATF Trail 10k Champion, 2012 Team USA 1st place World Long Distance Champion, and 2x Winner of the Leadville Silver Rush 50 mile held at 10k + feet. Off the trail, Gina is most likely developing more projects for Trail Sisters with her husband Justin, or playing with her Airedale, Erza. Gina is a powerhouse, a force, one who empowers and keeps showing up.

We talk about how Gina helps guide the town of BV as the Mayor Pro Tem. She talks about transitioning from field hockey to cross country and loving it; "running took a hold of me." We talk about being female in sport and seeing how there was more tradition and celebration around men's sports. She is honest about feeling left out and asking why don't WE have the things/access/awards that the men had? We talk about the importance of education and education as power, empowerment, advocacy. "An educated person can be a confident person." Gina talks about her challenge with the word "safety" and how it often is accompanied by fear; she wants to encourage awareness as opposed to fear and ultimately create a welcoming and accessible space. More conversation. More collaboration. She talks about growing up with ADD and learning how to harness it and embrace it as a superpower. Gina believes in the strength and power of women!
