62. Robyn Moreno: Getting Rooted; Unlearning; Re-Watering; Being a Fan of People; Staying With Your Own Healing
Jan 22, 2024 Season 2 Episode 62

Robyn Moreno (she/her) is a mama, a wife, a proud Tex-Mexican, a storyteller, a spiritual seeker, and a champion of women and Latinxs everywhere. She is a leader, an author, a certified yoga teacher, a trained life coach and Curanderismo practitioner.  She is on a journey of re-discovery and reclamation of both her culture and herself. Robyn highlights the stories and issues that are not being told about women, Latinas, and people of color during her work at publications like Glamour, InStyle, and Woman’s Day, as well by serving as the Founding Hamptons Editor for PureWow; the Founding Contributing Editor for Cosmo for Latinas; Editor-In-Chief of TheFetching.com; and the Editor-In-Chief and Co-President of Latina Media Ventures. She is an Emmy-nominated TV host who has learned that “You can’t be what you can’t see” nor can we change what we don't acknowledge. She was a contributor to Today for more than 10 years and a brand personality with two other books around lifestyle themes and identity—Borderline Personalities and Practically Posh — She is adept at harnessing the power of voice and personality on every major media platform from TV to online. She has been invited to the Obama Whitehouse, the Sundance Film Festival, and SXSW Interactive. Robyn has interviewed powerhouse women from Rihanna to Latina activist Dolores Huerta, Jennifer Lopez to Hillary Clinton, and beyond! Her latest book, Get Rooted, is a journey of re-discovery & reclamation of both her culture and herself. She is a thought leader who creates and elevates empowering stories about Latinxs and women of color via her popular podcast “Get Rooted with Robyn Moreno”. She was nominated for an Emmy as the host of Plum Daily Hamptons (a nationally syndicated lifestyle show). Robyn’s favorite things are her family, being in nature, and eating tacos, not necessarily in that order. She is a Tejana living in the Hudson Valley of NY with her family. Robyn is a mentor, an advocate, a facilitator of healing and growth and an empowerer.

Robyn shares about how she is a big fan of people and how we need each other to walk this "slick, slippery path." She talks about the power of re-claiming and re-watering, honoring, self-trust and guidance and blossoming from within. Robyn connects with her ancestors and believes that they are always trying to connect with us, whispering and guiding us. She feels more in her Ser, her knowing, when she connects with her ancestors. Her connection keeps her rooted, "our roots connect".  Robyn shares about the importance of staying with your own healing and looking at yourself and holding a mirror and how the staying is her work. "Healing is a lifelong remembering - release, reclaim, and root back again and again."
"Corazon cura corazon" - heart heals heart
Robyn is learning how to receive help and the reciprocity involved.
