This is a BEDTIME MEDITATION focusing on the theme of Abundance, and set in Budapest

Thank you to my Szekely family, for introducing me to Hungary, specifically Budapest, and the suburb of Ecser!

Kids are guided into a very relaxing moment at home in their cozy beds, where they focus on their breathing while listening to an audio quiet time activity. 

This meditation can be used as a nighttime routine before bed is to help them ease into slumber land, or also before nap.

The Breathing Practice for this month is STAR breathing.

Big Belly Breathing (BBB) is an audio program primarily for kids in English and French focusing on health and wellness, started by Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely.

As a teacher, a parent of bilingual kids & a yoga instructor/social emotional learner facilitator and holistic health & wellness coach, Vanessa wants to encourage children to thrive through establishing daily health habits.

Healthy Habits = Happy Kids

While listening, kids learn techniques to increase their creativity and attention spans. By practicing mindfulness, breathing, & gratitude kids experience mini-moments of deep rest that help them to reset, restore and recalibrate.

In today's busy world of multi-tasking, BBB is a place to help kids get centered, grounded and feel good. By practicing techniques learned here, kids develop their own self-care rituals, routines and habits.

These tools benefit their mind, body and heart health and set them up for greater joy in their present lives, and as adults.

So that kids aren't the only ones reaping these benefits, Vanessa has also included meditations specifically for older teens or adults!

#2 Nighttime meditation in Budapest

Good evening! Bonsoir and Welcome to Big Belly Breathing, Bienvenue to health!

My name is Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely, and I'm delighted to guide you on this bedtime journey where we’ll visit the enchanting city of Budapest, a place filled with nighttime wonder. 

Settle into your bed, get cozy under your blanket, and let's begin our adventure under the starlit Hungarian skies on a magical journey to the beautiful city of Budapest, where we'll explore its wonders and discover the abundance of peace and joy. But first, let's practice our special Star Breathing to help us relax and get ready for our adventure.

Imagine a big, bright star in front of you. Each point of the star represents a deep breath in and out. Let's start. Breathe in deeply through your nose as you trace up to the first point of the star, and breathe out through your mouth as you trace down. Move to the next point, breathe in deeply, and breathe out slowly. Continue tracing the star, breathing in and out, feeling more and more relaxed with each breath. (Pause for 5 deep breaths.)

Now, close your eyes and imagine you are standing on the banks of the Danube River in Budapest. The city lights reflect off the calm water, creating a shimmering pathway. You hear the gentle lapping of the water against the shore and the distant sound of music playing. The air is cool and filled with the scent of blooming flowers from the nearby gardens.

As you stand by the river, a magical animal companion appears by your side. It’s a graceful Hungarian Vizsla, a friendly and intelligent dog with a sleek golden coat and kind, gentle eyes. This special Vizsla is not just any dog; it has a magical ability to guide and protect you on your journey. You feel an instant bond with your new friend, and together, you begin your adventure.


You walk along the riverbank with your Vizsla companion and come to a beautiful bridge called the Chain Bridge. As you step onto the bridge, you feel the smooth stone under your feet. The bridge is lit up with golden lights, and you can see the majestic Buda Castle glowing on the hill in the distance. Your Vizsla walks happily beside you, and you feel the gentle breeze and listen to the quiet hum of the city.


As you reach the other side of the bridge, you find a path that leads up the hill to Buda Castle. You climb the path with your Vizsla, and with each step, you feel more peaceful and relaxed. When you reach the top, you see the grand castle before you. The castle is magnificent, with its ancient stone walls and towers. You walk through the courtyard and find a quiet spot to sit and look out over the city. The view is breathtaking, with the sparkling lights of Budapest spread out before you. Your Vizsla lies down next to you, providing warmth and comfort.

Next, you stroll over to Fisherman’s Bastion, a fairy-tale-like terrace with seven towers that look like they belong in a storybook. You explore the towers and walkways with your Vizsla, feeling like a prince or princess in a magical kingdom. From here, you can see the beautiful Parliament Building across the river, its reflection shimmering in the water. The air is filled with the scent of fresh night-blooming flowers, adding to the enchantment of the evening.

You continue your journey and find yourself at the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths. The warm, soothing water invites you in, and you step into a luxurious pool. Your Vizsla waits by the edge, keeping a watchful eye on you. The water feels wonderful against your skin, and you float effortlessly, looking up at the starry sky above. The steam rises around you, carrying the calming scent of lavender and eucalyptus. As you float, you feel all your worries melt away, replaced by a sense of abundance and peace.


Now, find a comfortable spot in the pool or by the side, and sit down. Take a deep breath in, feeling the abundance of relaxation and joy in this moment. Think about all the wonderful things in your life – your family, your friends, your favorite activities. Feel the abundance of love and happiness surrounding you, just like the abundance of beauty in Budapest. As you breathe out, imagine sharing this abundance with everyone around you. Your Vizsla nudges you gently, reminding you of the joy of companionship and connection.

It’s time to leave the thermal baths and make your way back to the riverbank. As you walk, your Vizsla happily trots beside you, guiding you safely. Take one last look at the beautiful city of Budapest. Feel the cool night air, hear the gentle sounds of the city, and carry with you the peace and joy of this magical place.

You arrive back at the riverbank where you began, feeling so grateful for this journey. Take a moment to thank Budapest and its beautiful places for reminding you of the abundance in your life. Thank you for joining me on this voyage to Budapest.
